Think I'd have been too young to understand the art of defending around the Albert era.

At his very best, Colo seemed to be able to slow time down as he engaged. Like he was floating at times. I agree Schar has probably shown better distribution and ball playing ability but then Colo wasn't really asked to either. Was very good at keeping it simple. Would be interested to see a prime Colo in this team to see what he could do.

I think this is it for me, he has so much hunger seemingly every time he's on the pitch. His pace and directness is going to be huge in getting those goals we had been lacking from our wingers without Miggy. He showed it in his limited minutes last year tbf but he was always going need time to condition and understand. He's come from a pretty closed minded "fight" mentality under Frank et al at Everton, in to a fight and be smart mentality here. He's been given lots more thinking to do whilst keeping the intensity (and maybe channelling it better) and he's handled it brilliantly in a short space of time imo. Yes there are parts to his game he doesn't have yet, but his basics are very good. Pace, strength, directness, shooting ability (more shown for U21s but starting to show it here now too), 2 footedness. He also seems more of a team player now already and for a 22 year old it's an impressive improvement in not very long. Price tag for a young U21 international might have been a bit English premium, but I think when you look at someone like MGW as well you understand why. MGW has had more time but I have every confidence Gordon will justify that initially seemingly inflated price tag as well as he has.

Get the absolute fuck in. Annoys me there was ever any doubt or question, mind. Hopefully just the moves for him over the summer making his agent talk and push, and fair enough if so.

Would be a good foil for Rice and Bellingham in a midfield 3.

Buzzing for him. He linked up brilliantly with pretty much everyone today. His awareness to drop in when Bruno goes roaming is impressive too. And that cross field raker was a beaut.

Its mad to compare my feelings towards this lad when he was starting on Trippier and after today. Dont think Ive ever swung further for any other player.

Will do wonders for him that game. Looked good from start to finish and looked like he belonged. Good ball control, good decision making, good short passing. His header was mint too, he looks good in the air. He looks more at home in that midfield position now than he has further up previously, think he will bring some of the ball carrying ability Willock does in that position.
