  1. Every time I see “Cazoo” I laugh childishly.
  2. Yup, and in that vein - Micky Hazard. Actually think he’s generally underrated by us as well.
  3. Yeah, it was the second point - I didn’t think you were better than 12 teams.
  4. Disagree with this, although I’ve not watched too many games this year.
  5. Was always an issue for him when he played for us. Lovely player, great going forward but against the top sides defensively he’d get burned from time to time.
  6. Whilst I agree, it would be remiss of me to not mention the fact that Spurs’ record against the top two this season is W2 D2 L0.
  7. Well we’re not fucking neutrals are we . I’ve hated Liverpool FC since I was a bairn.
  8. We’ve been through this before . Somebody has to win it. In the unlikely event it’s not Spurs I’d rather it was a club with infinite money where them winning anything doesn’t mean very much. For a while there it was Chelsea, now it’s Man City. If Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal win anything it’s annoying. Man City just don’t mean anything to me any more, so let them have it.
  9. Fuck, that seems pretty harsh. Just maybe sell them instead?
  10. Jesus look at all that hair
  11. I’m being unkind, bike fell apart there one day years ago while I was passing through and an old guy on an estate was really nice and helpful. It’s still an absolute dump though.

Agreed but… Top 4 now Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arse Top 4 10 years ago Man City, Man U, Arse, Spurs Top 4 15 years ago Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal Top 4 20 years ago Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, Newcastle It’s cyclical to a point, Even if Mike Ashley didn’t exist you can see why a lot of people struggle to give a fuck any more.
  13. ‘Twas ever thus, and for years it’s felt like there’s a social studies paper on it waiting to be written. It’s weird.
  14. 93/94 for me. That win over Wimbledon was dodgy as fuck. First goal was a penalty that the ref just plucked out of his arse IIRC.
  15. “Charm offensive”. That’s one phrase for it.
  16. Would only be a consolation mind. Everton should have been flushed on more than one occasion in my lifetime and this is long overdue.
  17. It shows what money can and will do in the end if you have enough. West Ham misused it for a while but eventually got it right. Money bought them enough bites of the cherry. You can always point to one or two failures such as Everton, or West Ham themselves for a while, but sooner or later the law of averages will win out. It took Man City a while too.
  18. The worst bit is the effect on the heart, unfortunately.
  19. Agreed, but the point still stands. Contrasting West Ham and Lyon (for example) is strong evidence of the PL’s financial might overwhelming others. Just looking at transfer fees (leaving wages aside) Lyon have had to recoup large fees every year by selling their better players to…the PL. For the last few years they have had a net transfer surplus. West Ham have been able to spend large sums on players year in and year out. If someone doesn’t quite pan out they can afford to suck up a major loss and move on due partly to the large amount of TV money the PL brings in.
  20. …but they’ve still massively outspent Lyon in terms of transfer fees and wages. It’s much easier to recruit well if you can outspend your competitors year in and year out. They just can’t outspend their competitors in the Premier League.
  21. Don’t think Modric is totally different at all…as a player. Very similar role in a team. To JPB’s point, Xavi was essentially a one-club player who was groomed from an early age as part of a team and system. Modric’s achievements are extraordinary because he wasn’t in that position.
  22. I completely forgot about the early game (again) but actually went up in the standings.
