  1. I was listening to something on the radio in the last couple of days where they were saying that the next TV deal is not far off and they fully expect it to be 3 times the current deal. Foreign TV deals maybe, can't see Sky or BT paying much more than they are now. Sky's profits went down last year from the extra cost of the deal. dunno bt will want to try to get a bigger share of the prem matchs and sky will do everything in their power to stop them, so could easily see a big increase again. Its all going to collapse in on itself sooner or later and then we'll be perfectly positioned to dominate english football With your state-of-the-art youth development? (Sorry)
  2. They've posted Kanji's stuff on the wall as motivation.
  3. Schneiderlin qualifies as homegrown.
  4. I like the crux of his argument, but didn't someone point out that he was playing a bit fast and loose with the maths?
  5. Can't say I'd paid much attention, but I'm told many Southampton fans rated Schneiderlin in their top two players.
  6. They're probably asking 60M for him
  7. West Ham - Are you and West Ham sharing flights and hotels to save cash, or something?

    Sunderland

We used to live in a shoebox in the middle of t'road...
  9. We're supposedly in for Schneiderlin, and as the man says, have asked the question about Rodriguez. In addition, we are supposed to have enquirer about Lovren, but the money is silly.
  10. Supposedly Fabianski is now #1 at Swansea, which means Vorm is choosing between #2 at Swansea and #2 with us. We can offer him the Europa Cup games, so it makes some sense.

    Football pet hates

Nothing personal, but one pet hate of mine is anything quoted from Talkshite. They just make stuff up to annoy people. Not worth a second of your time, or anyone else's.
  12. Whats the deal with the strikers situation? Soldado, Adebayor and Kane?? Is that it? Yeah, though the way Poch plays that should in theory be enough. We have a shit-load of players who can do that attacking midfield role either from the middle or the wings - Falque, Ceballos, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Holtby, Townsend, Lennon, plus arguably Dembele, Paulinho and the kid Mason (although the first two will probably start further back. Enough for a not entirely convincing 4231.
  13. Oh I completely agree, I just hadn't realized how active everyone else had been. Apart from Everton, but that nearly goes without saying We have soooo many players available - nearly two full teams played against Seattle, while there's pretty much another full team due to come back from the World Cup/injury. It's going to take Poch half a season to get his head round it, and a fair few of the youngsters will have to get loaned out.
  14. That's because you bought 4 squads over the last 3 years. New manager too. Not saying that it's a bad thing, just that I hadn't been paying attention .
  15. I didn't realize we were the only team not to sign anyone yet.
  16. I know someone said that Fener aren't going to have a sponsor this year, but I wish people would stop getting too excited about kits where the sponsor hasn't been added yet. It makes a massive difference to how the kit looks. Not that the Fener ones aren't excellent anyway, btw.
  17. The next guy to make one is going to get battered.
  18. The main difference is that they are doing it while in the Champions League, which gives them more pulling power, plus they have the huge sponsorship deals generating more cash. They can attract better players and pay them more.

  20. I think this really shows the value of US friendlies. MLS teams are decent, and always well up for these matches - as are the crowds.
  21. If Man U finish above us but we get above Everton then we'll be as high as last season. I agree though, it will be very tough, you could argue that everyone bar Everton (so far) has strengthened, while we've only improved our manager - and of course only ourselves and Man U have a new manager finding his feet. Again. Your squad definitely performed below its possibilities last season, imho. If Pochettino clicks you shouldn't worry about lack of major signings. Agreed - if we get Davies then we've strengthened the one true weak spot. Lamela would make an enormous difference if he gets an extended run in the team, and much depends upon Eriksen again.

  23. No way to tell from this team - if we get Ben Davies in then there is precisely one starter on the pitch (presuming one of Lennon or Townsend gets a start, and even that's debatable). Good game so far though, Seattle seem well up for it, and that was a cracking goal. Just meant generally really tbh. Think he'll do a really good job there. Wel jel Cheers. I really hope so. We've got a very good squad with one or two weaknesses that hopefully will be addressed in the next month, much will depend upon whether he can establish a style of play that allows these fringe players to slot in. Europa will take it's toll. Alright Pards. thought you'd appreciate that. I must admit i wonder how you'll cope with that miniscule squad of yours. Yeah, we're the anti-Pardew, millions of clever CMs and one left back.
