I don't have a problem with all the money he spent at Villa - he was rebuilding a squad. The main issue with all the players he bought was that (a) their wages were massive (b) he ended up feuding with/not playing many of them © he didn't have viable exit plans for them, he just expected the owners to cough up more. Lerner told him to take some responsibility for them, so he quit. I can't see him taking the Sunderland job without the owners promising him money. Does anyone know off the top of their head how their finances are?

Me too. I don't know how much discretion the ref has if he decides it was handball - it was clearly unintentional but I have a vague memory that that doesn't matter in these circumstances. I'm undecided about the whole thing really. I mean, it's Spurs, and obviously I want us to win every game we ever play ever, but I can't remember being less fussed about a competition. Isn't the next round a league as well? If we can blag our way through playing makeshift teams then great, but UEFA have utterly fucked it up by introducing too many games, then throwing the CL teams back in for a laugh.
