Nah, they looked very calm on the ball for most of that first half. Kept us in possession. Need to win those headers though.
-
well we fail at headers

I disagree. they have been given some pretty close access to Pardew/Players. And now that the local media are banned they are prob the only ones getting any first hand news. The Napoli interest could be bollocks, but either way its still them trying to flog him publicly. "So we want to sell this player, shall we contact other clubs? His agent? Nah if we put an article on SD.com they'll be banging our door down". They probably only avoided eBay because of the 5% they'll take from any fee we receive. Generally a difference between going up to strangers with an item and saying "i really want to sell this" compared to just putting it in a shop window though. You dont have much negotiation power in the former really, going to someone gives you far less power than making them come to you.

We've enough to beat these
-
How has he given that as a pen

Yep. We are in a great position now to kick on, but we'll need to show different qualities in those games. This is key for me really. If we cant show those qualities after the recent results, when will we ever do it under Pardew? Our confidence & self belief should be flying.

Great result for him again, surpassing expectations against the bigger sides atm definately. I hope we use the confidence from this against the other sides coming up.

What a result that is

Stahp Brett pls. The difficult period involved us being thoroughly embarrassed by Sunderland. Still needs a couple of good results in the next 4 to win back some hearts and minds. Really though? We got beat, it can happen. Cardiff beat Swansea at the weekend, does that now mean Cardiff are better than Swansea and embarrassed them? No, not at all. The 3-0 at home however was thoroughly embarrassing, losing to a 20 yard strike in closing stages isn't. Norwich/West Brom are the big games, i agree. This period of games from Everton away was tough though and i think the players and manager can keep their heads held high bar an embarrassing display tomorrow. You're ignoring the details of the situation though. There are clear patterns in terms of how we play, its not just losing to Sunderland. Its what that game means, the gap in ability of the sides at the time & our lack of ability to step up to the occasion (having just matched the team in 2nd place). You're acting as if its a one off, when it is one in a long run of poor performances when under pressure & underperforming against sides we should be beating. The other games dont change what that means about our potential to do the same in the future.

Good points: Playing more attractive football. Anita, Cabaye & Remy have been very impressive for the most part. Shout out to Gouffran & Ben Arfa's early season form. Have matched several top sides in recent games. We're scoring more from indirect freekicks recently. Bad points: Expectation to win creates poor performances Players cant keep composure/belief in ability when they go a goal behind like the other top sides. Similarly one poor defensive mistake normally leads to others & complete dissarray. Pardew doesnt seem to be able to fix this. To have a good season & be more consistant we need to keep clean sheets really. The scoring is atleast more consistant atm, defensively we've been a bit suspect.

We are playing more football on the ground, players like Anita & Cabaye are helping that cause. Our style of play isnt the issue this season, its been the defence being laughable in several games & a lack of belief if anything whatsoever goes wrong during a game.

Poyets gone full retard way to soon
-
Tell you what, you could lipread "round the back" from Pardew there. Fairplay.
-
Yeah could put someone on the line, but hes pretty efficient at finding that top corner.
-
Toure has turned into a bit of a Beckham on freekicks
-
Anyone got any real faith we'll turn over Norwich with relative ease in a couple weeks?
-
I wouldn't say we're any better, for that to happen we need to string a few results and performances together, instead of us blowing hot and cold. Fair enough, let's hope we manage it. 6 or so wins from 54 games of the opposition scoring first under Pardew suggests theres quite a long running issue. When you are limited to keeping a clean sheet or scoring first to win a game, you will be inconsistant.

Basically the criticism towards him was entirely based on being dominated by Lukaku (like everyone is) and one moment against Suarez. We need to chill with our criticism of players sometimes. Think it was quite a few more moments than that like against other sides like Hull.
-
Yeah, except it also makes losing to Sunderland & Hull all the more embarrassing.
-
Its not random, look at it. West ham 0-0, hull 2-3, Sunderland 1-2. Liverpool 2-2 (We scored first), Chelsea 2-0 (We scored first) Aston Villa (We scored first) Man City 4-0 (They scored first) Everton 3-2 (They scored first)
-
Well we'll never know will we? But Anita didn't cross the ball onto Gouffran's head for the opener, for a start. Obviously the manager is only part of the equation. But Anita's influence is likely what lead to us getting the freekick in the first place, as our entire ability to trouble them with the ball started then. Pardews overly negative man, it works at times but its hurting us so much at others.

His move to get his weight past the defender from the dodgy return from Obertan was quality, so many would lose the ball there. Such a simple thing.
