  1. Think he'll make a difference yeah. We just need to get going really, lots of pressure on this first goal it seems.
  2. Exactly, dissapointing result but we've a manager now who will analyze what went wrong and adjust. If you give up on someone like Benitez this quickly no one has any hope of retaining your patience. Its a new team as has been stated, people are getting way to carried away with the "we'll not lose a game" nonsense. You'd expect us to do well, but dont go writing off an entire league because you enjoy feeling like the top dog. They all have a point to prove & there is more to a game than pure ability as we've all seen being Newcastle fans. Benitez said last season, he has to see who will step up and perform, handle the pressure & we'll just have to do that process again.
  3. Massively deserved. Really glad for him & nice to have a manager that makes the simple choices the fans can see aswell. He proved his leadership when he spoke up when needed, many captains just get the role on reputation. This guys a genuine leader, just needs to keep learning now.
  4. Looks a superb signing, watched him in the playoffs & he was the stand out player each time i watched. Looked a step above this divison easily.
  5. He was our best player in pre season last year and didnt get a look in. Mclaren then only gave him any real time at left back. He was available for 16+ games last year, he wasnt injured as much as made out. At times he just wasnt in the squad or was benched.
  6. Aarons has done nothing to warrant a starting spot man Eh, he's been pretty quality whenever started in his actual position. Injury has kept him out, not ability. If he's not getting a consistant chance at championship level he wont be staying here like. And when last was that? That guy is a squad player to start the season. No way he can be trusted as he never stays fit, and has not played a full memorable game in over a year. Ive no problem with bringing in someone to challenge the position, im just saying if you make it Ibe you're likely writing off Aarons career here as i doubt he will stay personally. He has loads of potential & has been misused. If he doesnt play much in the championship, we wont keep him. Though he's played less frequently, at his best i've seen more from Aarons than Ibe.

  8. Good one. But you'd want someone he could compete with when fit, can't see Ibe dropping a division to spend much time atall on the bench.
  9. We have Ritchie & Aarons for the wings dont we, where would Ibe play? None of the 3 would expect bench time.
  10. Are they taking the fucking piss

May have thought Mole quoted a different post then to be fair to him The stuff about us needing to expect to do badly was a joke, think most of us trust Rafa to do well.

Because how we receive things on the internet relates to real life results I mean i have heard of superstition but that's ridiculous. Its more that its embarassing if you're overly cocky about how easy it will be, when things are rarely that simple. How have you not learnt that lesson after your Iceland nonsense.

Im fairly sure its a certifiable fact that if we expect to do well, we will not do well. Recent steps to success have been, get thrashed by a lower league team before the season starts. Hate the new manager. Expect us not to get the best manager we've had in recent years. Then definitely expect him not to stay. Lets not change this winning formula.

Agree, maybe a bit early but Howe is the perfect candidate if you're going English. Meant to be creative with drills etc, could be a great match.

Yeah lets not get massively carried away and ahead of ourselves or anything.

Its nuts how efficient we are suddenly.
  17. Posted when we were linked with him ages back that i thought it'd be a top signing. Hes looked good whenever i've watched him, but been managed by Pulis, Warnock, Pardew etc. Still top scorer each season for them barely starting games. Rafa must have seen something to choose him, so hope he repays that favour. Nice to feel a player has joined who's genuinely excited about playing for us. That attitude is exactly whats needed for a change.
  18. Nee worries we'll return the favour next season, see it like a loan

How was Roy Hodgson on 1.5 million Euro's a year more than Joachim Low?

You have a point there in regards to creativity, thats certainly part of it. You look at our leading assisters last season: Milner 11 Alli 9 Barkley 8 Deeney 7 Drinkwater 7 Albrighton 6 Vardy 6 Lallana 6 Rooney 6 Daniels 5 So not only do we not have key creative players of the past like Beckham, but we dont use the half decent ones. 5 of the top 6 didnt play. Jason Puncheon is the 2nd highest English player for Key passes & crosses. Top English dribblers are Zaha (who was the best in the league), Barkley & Jordan Ibe. None of the names we're looking at for the England team were actually that effective for their clubs. The ones who were we dont see as being good enough.

Shearers got it pretty spot on throughout the tournament for me.

Half the media were questioning even taking Rooney though, it was the manager this time. No one got Sterling, Wilshere etc as choices. It wasnt pressure it was him being loyal he said.

Roy lost his bottle in the Portugal game, tried to fit Rooney in and couldnt differentiate between whether the tactics hed set up were nullifying the threat of Kane/Vardy or whether they just played badly together. It was obviously the former, but the latter meant no Rooney. So he somehow came up with both not starting them together again and moving Rooney. Befire that we were scoring pretty easily.

Id agree previously but i think this younger set of lads are harder to put that on. As i say they seemed pretty over the moon to beat Germany a few weeks ago, they went nuts for the last minute winner against wales. I agree mentality is an issue and they can be nervy, i think they want it though. Certainly we go for names rather than putting a side together, the Germany game is the continous example. Beat the world champions and never repeat that team because: Rooney, Wilshere, Sterling, sturridge etc any combination of big name, transfer fee or big past. Not big form. But again thats all on Roy. We certainly could do with someone they believe in still yeah. Eddie Howe seems a great prospect, hopefully he keeps doing well.
