Only just realised west broms game is championship. Come on blackpool

Beckford would have pissed all over this league

1 win out of 14 league games is near identical to our form under Allardyce, the longer they go without a win the more likely it'll look. Even if they get draws, bad form plays on morale. They need to win one of the next two games against Wigan/Portsmouth. After that their next 8 games involve Arsenal, Fulham, Villa, Man city, birmingham, liverpool & tottenham. Can see them losing all of them.

6 minute hattrick, gotta be close to a record surely

Palace 2-0 up against wolves glad for them That Butterfield lad with both. Looked a good player against us aswell. (Ambrose with assist for 2nd)

Before the last game itd only been 3 games since Nolan scored. Its a managers job to put faith in his players, let alone the sides top scorer. I imagine he'll be coming close to a decision to drop him soon, i see no reason to think he wouldnt. He has shown he can identify the weaknesses in our side previously, hes not blind. With Smith its a case of him or Butt & people are happy with neither at the moment. Butt was better than both in the last game for me, but people werent happy about him staying on either even though we ended up massively on top after the other two went off. The things he does arent that baffling. You could argue that you'd do it differently, but the choices he's making arent as idiotic as theyre made out to be (on the whole).

As has been said before. How do you know that without him, we'd be playing football that deserved to win? You dont know that it would happen, people simultaneosly accept that areas of our team are rubbish & then also expect that we've the quality to take apart every team with the right manager. The central midfield he's had to work with, isnt really the best for passing & moving football is it. For all we know he's getting the best results out of whats largely been a side with a massive weakness all season. We may have had to play as we have been to get the results we've had, that doesnt mean its perfect each time. But in the majority, it may have been. The commitee of players thing is based on little more than the players saying they got together after the Orient game afaia & has been exaggerated for amusement since then. It isnt rare for a manager to let the players have meetings and sort things out between themselves, its happened for many sides. It doesnt mean he has no control does it, again its assumptions formed to fit a negatively biased opinion of him.

You get the idea. People are far more ready to use a poor situation to create a negative perception of that persons entire ability, rather than accept that people dont always perform at their best/make the right decisions consistantly. Hughton made very bad choices for our last game for me & ill criticize him all day long for that specific situation. Dont think its sensible to then use that one game as a reason he'd then be a useless manager, even if its happened once or twice before. Ive seen positive & negative signs this season, probably more positive. As has been discussed a lot recently though. Peoples expectations increase as a situation improves. Id rather have a go when someone does something wrong & still have faith that they'll improve in the long run than write them off completely because of it. People are writing off Hughtons involvement in our current level of success due to guessing games for the most part of what he's responsible for. Its not based on anything solid really, mainly just disagreeing strongly with certain decisions he's made and using that annoyance to bias your opinion against his ability as a manager overall.

I think people get far to Harsh far to quickly. Its the same with the players & the manager. Its far easy to form a quick negative view of someone for most, than to sustain a positive one & accept that it may not constantly be perfect.

Reckon i know how Skirge voted
-
Reckon he'll be dropped for this next game, Him or smith anyway. Wouldnt suprised to see butt stuck in there as he was clearly preferred in the last game

Dont want him to be captain. Dont see any better choices, Rooney comes closest for his determination. Dont see him as much of a leader of others though yet.
-
Championship standard strikers do not finish many half chances, they havent against us atleast. Our side has scored them to win games, it hasnt been due to opening up the opposition with our beautiful passing. We've been better at finishing. Thats what he means, seems obviously correct.
-
I think we'd end up with a much better team under Shearer. We'd likely have gotten moses/beckford for example quite easily. Dont think we can judge him positively or negatively as a tactician after last season, as he was trying to salvage a sinking ship & patch up holes he hadnt created.
-
Exactly. Even Andreas Andersson scored league goals at Old Trafford, Anfield & Stamford Bridge...couldn't hit a barn door the majority of the time. Leeds have played 4 prem teams this season, hes scored fairly against all of them. The one against liverpool wasnt given. That wouldve given him 5 goals in 4 games against prem opposition. Thats pretty consistant.
-
Its a pretty good sign when a players consistantly scoring against prem standard opposition Beckford looks very talented. Was more annoyed about that than missing out on moses myself.
-
Not sure I get this bit unless I missed something. Everything Shearer wanted in those 6 weeks in charge, he got (Wise out, Dowie in, etc). He had plenty of time to keep us up (that shocking home draw at Portsmouth springs to mind), and had he won that, would have been given the job full-time imo. Keegan wouldnt have kept us up given the same period of time. Wasnt plenty of time atall considering that crapstorm of a season we were coming off. Was nowhere near enough.
-
Probably because we were playing Tottenham and Liverpool Away last year. I'm pretty sure a Shearer team Away at Scunthorpe or Leicester would be different. And Stoke and Villa. The Villa game, where we needed to win, still rankles with me now...after being on top for about 20 minutes we sat back and invited them onto us,and once they scored,we had no momentum.I mean, inviting the likes of Ashley Young to attack David Edgar..... Probably more to do with player Morale than his tactics. I dont see Shearer the premierships top scorer being a guy who sets his team out to play defensively really.
-
He'll definately be given another go at managing us at some point.

http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20100201/deadline-day-deal-united-bag-best_2240137_1951679 Confused by this. Wiki has him with 15 games. Soccernet says hes played 26 games in the championship & started 24 & lists all of them. Tell me they havent signed him based on his wikipedia entry.

Just seen it, great strike. Hopefully one of those players who'll step up then when motivated enough.
