  1. Strikers are more likely to fluff chances when theyve touched the ball maybe twice in previous 4 games. All our strikers were missing at that point.
  2. The gap between 1st & 3rd would be closed in though, forest lost to them. So essentially like us losing a match & them winning one.
  3. Clearly wants to take him tbh
  4. Its lucky Burnley didnt think like that isnt it. Moronic to not even try, doesnt matter if the odds are stacked against you. Shouldnt give up a game at any point let alone before it even starts, embarassingly defeatist.
  5. It is with the midfield we had. He was a rubbish captain yeah, dont see why thats relevant
  6. The money being spent badly doesnt mean it wasnt a good deal, it means just that the money we got from a good deal was spent badly.
  7. Yeah that was a strange one. Hes given the explanation that he was just resting players for the christmas period though so not a normal situation. He probably is more comfortable going back to formations that have been tried and been successful to, he's just not likely to try something new unless needed. Guthrie played over all this lot in the centre of mid last season at a much higher standard & he still hasnt given him a look in, he just sticks with whats been successful so far this season.
  8. When they both got over 100 they had good following season in the prem, both got into top 10. I think an increase in confidence will help a lot for a period of time, people need to realise that many of the players we have now werent playing 100% last season & will be more likely to once we go back up with a fresh start. So i dont think its as bad as its sometimes viewed, but obviously we have to bring in better quality in certain areas also. I think a good prem standard striker & couple of midfielders would keep us up.
  9. Hughton just goes with what he knows. If he's played a certain side and theyve got results he keeps it like that, its usually only when it goes wrong does he change it. The issue being that most formations would have us winning games in this league, but doesnt mean theyre the most efficient formations we have. He wont change the likes of Smith/Butt/Nolan in the centre because of that though. Only if two of them got injured or put in awful performances would Guthrie even get a look in in the middle. Was the same case with Lovenkrands upfront.
  10. So top two stood still basically & the teams underneath caught up a little. Cardiff, Forest & Leicester are the teams i want to do rubbish now, the gap between 3rd is the most important thing.
  11. should of been flying with 3 points on sat but fell apart, should of been flying a month or so ago when we again had the chance to fly, this time as in all derby games our wings will be clipped We won 7 on the bounce and went 12 clear of 3rd, i think we've been flying for a while lol Ive a good feeling we'll win this match also, dont think Boro can match us right now atall. We'll see.
  12. We were in relegation form for a long time under allardyce. I remember at the time noticing many of the points we got were purely down to luck, last minute goals/equalisers to get us something from another purely awful performance. We got a lottt of late goals. The way we'd played under him could destroy a persons love for football, he is an appaulingly boring & negative manager. Our games with Derby that season just summed it all up, ive a hard time believing he'd have turned it around & im not sure i care if he would have. Glad to be rid.
  13. Which is just massively over the top. We wasted money on him being the best argument anyone could have, being moreso the clubs fault rather than him for accepting the huge amounts being offered. All this massive personal dislike is just a result of some putting way to much expectancy on the guy to single handedly turn around the fortunes of a crap team because of the money he earned, he was never that player in the first place & is a long way off being near the top of the people to blame for our relegation.
  14. Dont think theres much he could do for the first, was deflected across & then Rtaylor + their player both missed headers & the last guy just thumped it as hard as poss & was lucky it went into the roof rather than over really.
  15. He has the experience the others dont, thats the difference. He's played for us on the big stage before & is less likely to have his performances effected by the pressure of the situation. Bent/Agbonlahor are more likely to put in average performances for England at the WC, depends how confident theyd be going into it. If Owen has even a decent/good season though, i think he'll get in ahead.
  16. Why do they pretend theyre watching it live, its so obvious theyre putting the commentary on afterwards. And about Nolan: "Well he was sent off against Watford, this is his last game before a ban" Btw id thought Carroll was at fault for their late equaliser but its clearly down to Khizanishvili if you have a watch, he drops off him for no reason to mark the guy behind him whos already being covered. Dont want to see him playing for us again, useless.
  17. Reckon he'll take 5 strikers & Owen will sneak in there. He'll get in over agbonlahor & Bent.
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1235599/Graham-Poll-Divers-foreign-No-British-disease.html
  19. Probably, id be far far more suprised if he didnt. Think his goal/games ratio is only behind Defoe of all England strikers this season once again. Probably because hes still a world class striker of the highest order.
  20. Jayson

    No. 1 striker

Carrolls getting very good at laying it off with his head, he did the same when he played for England also. He's becoming strong in that area which is good to see, he just needs to have better movement in the area himself and use that heading ability to direct some of these into the net.
  21. Was just looking over past tables, interesting really. In the last 20 years of the championship/divison one etc the only team to have conceded less goals at this point in the season is Reading, who'd conceded 11 by now the season they got to 106. They'd scored 3 more than us at this point in the season to. So we're still on track for a very good season, before yesterday we had the best defensive record in a long long time.
  22. Its the whole idea that Foreigners bring it in that makes our media emphasize them doing it. When ours do it it doesnt fit with the idea that we're the victims having to deal with other countries & their players cheating ways, so they tend to go quiet over it. It is pretty consistantly Gerrard and Rooney for us mainly, Owen has the odd dive also. Dont think the rest are to bad.
