In terms of cost compared to actual games played, Xisco is easily one of the worst signings. Atleast Colo, Robino, Gomez, Shorey, etc etc have actually had some form of use for their sides, actually made the first team. We made one of our key signings in the last mins of the window a player who since then no one has thought to be good enough to even start a prem game for us. He's behind Owen, Martins, Viduka, Carroll, Shola, Lovenkrands & Ranger. Using money to keep a fire going would be less of a waste than our signing Xisco.

Think a loss tomorrow would be pretty disasterous for confidence, especially if al plays 4-3-3. Doesnt mean we definately wont stay up, it just makes it more unlikely. Which is the last thing we need...staying near the pack above us would also be much better. All the games we have now are going to have a very big outcome on the end of our season..no point claiming it'll be fine regardless. Purely denial that.

2-1 chelsea

Malouda would have been absolutely crap for us.

What a load of nonsense over nothing

Got the assist in he last few minutes against tottenham for duff, wouldnt rely on him massively. Might be useful to bring on towards the end

Just watching highlights, that Diego's a bit class.

Think what a lot are missing is that the point is he's acting as if he still actually gives a shit about Newcastle which is completely contradictory to his actions.

Serial bottler, ha ha. Pull the other one princess. You are able to count aren't you? Instead of giving all your bile to someone who saved us more goals than Shearer ever scored for 'walking out' once, save a bit for the guy who walked out on us twice. Its not that bad an argument tbh. Think the only difference is keegan leaving us when we still had a chance of doing something this season, he did it early so we hada chance to recover. Given left when we'd already cocked the recovery up & left us right in it. Don't blame the manager/wise/board for not signing/scouting a replacement though. They only knew he wanted to leave a month. Why would anyone not blame them. This isnt a "List everything you blame for newcastles horrific season" thread, its about Given. So how did he "leave us right in it" then? Pretty sure we went through this.

And therein lies the clue to why so many are pissed off with his comments in the Guardian today. Shay could have been the difference to us being in the Premier League next season and not. No-one wants his "prayers" for us to stay up, would have preferred him to stick out 5 months inbetween the sticks for us, and then moving on. If you cannot understand that then sobeit. I wanted him to stay too but the abuse he's getting for leaving a joke. Why should he have stayed? We had a abysmal caretaker manager, s**** players, no chance of silverwear, a captain that wants to leave, a farce of a board but he's a t*** for leaving? looking like relegation? Didnt even really look like relegation at that point, we were just average. Before the liverpool game we actually had gone on a run of decent results. We had a lot of players out to, he knew that. He just chose to think short term, got frustrated and let that decide his decision for him.

So you'd be happy for the mackems to win in Europe or did you want Boro to win the UEFA cup the other season? Just because Man U etc. play in England doesn't mean ****, half their players aren't even English and any other day of they week they'd be our rivals. Wouldnt want those two winning anything they could brag about, outside of them i wouldnt care. Doesnt matter whether all their players are all English, they're representing an english club. They're drawing attention to the greatness of a league in England, that we're a part of. Why wouldnt i like that ..... ?
-
Good chance he'd do a keane if that scenario happened if we're still up. Shearer would take him & i can see shay joining if he thinks we've been sorted out.
-
Agree with that. We could have had so many more years of greatness
-
Should never have left when he did, they especially made it sound like he was desperate to go. Should have stayed around and help us in this battle, instead he went the easy route. That single decision may relegate us this season. Still, if he wanted to come back who wouldnt take him. Class goalkeeper still.

Dont see whats wrong with wanting the sides representing England to win. In any sport i root for my country to, regardless of whether someone or a team from another country has had far better form & looks the better competitor. Though it is getting a bit boring that its constantly english sides in the final of the champs league. Be more interesting for Barca to get there...id still want an English side to beat them.

Its more to do with the fact that we've been useless in the air outside of Carroll & the fact that liverpool have a defense capable of dealing with pressure if it comes back at them. We try to keep possession & get into dangerous position before putting the ball in...probably because if we lumped it in from 40 yards out we'd lose the ball constantly & invite endless pressure = concede goals. Then you have to keep in mind that these crosses need to actually stay in play & if they do....not get headed away by the first man. Impossible for us 7 times out of 10. Still, agree that more crossing would be useful now Carrolls shown what he can do....think most do. Maybe Owen will get some headers again if he gets it together.
-
Bolton and stoke have numerous big strong lads. We have andy carroll. We make a habit of sticking to long ball football & base all our work around crosses to him teams will pick it up quickly and just mark him out of the game. We still need to learn how to pass the ball a bit. Dont know why we'd give up on that, 4-3-3.....we have the players to play that formation easily.

So liverpool have scored atleast 4 goals in 5 of their last 7 games then. When was the last time a team did that i wonder....
-
Dont understand people that claim they'd be happy with a point in any of the games from now until the end of a season. Who the fck gives a crap about records at this point
-
Had a great season. Really like him as a player these days. agree
