    Obafemi Martins

Yes, he should be our goalkeeper, defence, midfield and strike force. How useless.

  3. What are the chances next season of us making a bid for Given & him coming back now shearers here ? Harper doesnt look up to it so far sadly

    Some positives

Agree that we should have expected more. Dont go for this a point is a good result nonsense. Its not disasterous....its not good either. As much as you want to say about their record at home. Our players should be better than theirs, simple as that. They should be up for it more than even now with Al behind them. Carroll clearly is. The goal we conceded was crap. Our general play was crap for much of the game. This wasnt down to stoke being brilliant at home ffs, it was down to our lack of ability. The fact that we had to change our entire formation because of martins. Our defending was abysmal, we cleared off the line so many times it was ridiculous. This again wasnt because of stokes brilliant home record. Its because we're absolutely sh.te at defending set pieces. Same way liverpool exposed us & so many other sides. The only moment we looked strong was when carroll came on. He cleared about 4 in a row at the end. But we should have gotten a lot more. Once again though, Martins going out has recked it for me. I cant base the rest of the season on yesterdays game, no way to apply it.

You what? The reason it worked so well last season was because we had pace up there too. Biggest reason it worked last season was just Owen being able to find space. He saved us with his movement not martins with his pace most of the time. If Martins is out injured, im saying it wouldnt be that bad. Carroll will be useful, Shola will be pulling a defender away & owen will get space. why dont you just shove your cock up his arse when he's not looking? Owen has 1 goal in his last 13 now yet you still talk about him as if he's the man to save us, absolutely pathetic Your opinion is laughable mate as ive told you before. Look around, a lot of people reckon owen has a role to play before the end of the season. If you had any form of observational skills you'd notice the arguments against your opinion & atleast attempt to reply to them. Then again if you had any you wouldnt need to read these arguments to understand the situation in the first place, so i think you're just a lost cause tbh. If you disagree with something ive said, pick it out and argue why you think its wrong. Dont just consistantly make general ignorant statements, you're making yourself look a right tw*t
  6. Compared to Chopra & Shola this one might actually be able to step up. His first proper chance for the first team and he's doing well, getting key goals for us. Might actually be the first success of our youth system.

From what Al's said, he might just still try 4-3-3 with both Carroll & Shola upfront. Owen behind. Wouldnt be that bad
  9. Jayson

    Ryan Taylor/Nolan

Got a few off the line & his long throw set up duff to cross in the ball. His crossing has been disasterous tho, needs to get working on it again.
  10. Works for them though clearly booing like that, teams dont handle the pressure. Especially those lacking in confidence.

    Nile Ranger

He's basically said today that Nile will defo be playing first team footie at some point this season
  12. Jayson

    Obafemi Martins

Seems everyones ignoring this. If its right, none of uz has been deleted.
  13. Agree about butt, we slate him for his ability but he has heart. Amount of times yesterday we were just knocking it around infront of their area with no idea what to do. Guthrie didnt want to commit to a through ball, Nolan didnt want to try it....so they all just pass it between themselves until Butt finally attempts to knock one over the top. Then we all bollock him because clearly he's crap at doing it. The main points being missed though, he only does it because our other players dont. Its down to them to step up, they have the ability to make it count. Not butt....he's just trying.
  14. Dont agree that we dealt with their set pieces atall until Carroll came on. We looked reckless every single time.....cleared half of them off the line. Only Bassong stepped up as usual. Think he waited to long to take Shola off also tbh, but its understandable. Bringing Guti on as a sub actually worked well, he had fresh legs and the opposition were more tired so he could run with it. Prob could do same from the start tho. He started taylor because he wanted someone who could deliver good set pieces & cross the ball in well. Taylor managed to crap it all up again. Used to be much better at crossing for wigan.....so his confidence must be out or something. I dont understand it, but it is ridiculously frustrating. Could have won yesterday if he'd been half good at delivering. As harsh as we all are to Shola......its not his fault hes being picked. If they stopped playing him & he increased his fitness in training he MIGHT get it together a bit. Think what most ppl see as laziness is shola just being knackered far to quickly. Dont know why the hell they had him marking Faye on corners......thats their fault. But he's clearly just not good enough & reckon now hes had his last chance this season. Nolans not fit enough obviously, was crap again. Harper looked lost......not impressive. Edgar fit in well, didnt look out of place atall next to Beye & Bassong. Overall tho its hard to take very much from that game atall towards our chances of staying up this season. The obvious positive is Carroll, but its impossible to know whether he'll continue to keep stepping up the rest of the season now. He's clearly our biggest threat when the balls in the air atall & our only striker who can muscle some space for himself on his own. Showed he can strike a ball recently in the reserves aswell..so i HOPE he keeps going. But Martins being out has ruined it. We played crap against stoke, but the system was completely changed for whatever reason & if any players could deal with that its certainly not ours. Our season will still be based on whether we can play 4-3-3 well i reckon......the performance has to completely change. Any decent side could have buried us yesterday, stoke went through with 2 players to 1 so many times and sliced it wide. Very worrying. But like i say.....very hard to tell right now whether we have the ability to improve.....all we can possibly take from that match is 1 point rather than any real confidence in our ability. Still 60/40 that we just might not have enough this season.......but its still in our hands.
  15. Even on his good run his goals were pretty crap. He wasnt exactly exceling was he. Sliced one in, had a tap in another game, penalty, header from cms out v sunlun.
  16. What other player do we have whos looked even half dangerous from set pieces. Have to play him if only for us to actually have any reason to cross the ball or take corners. None of the others can head for anything atm.
  17. Strange how just like in the west ham game, he headed one barely wide from the far post before he scored. It was like an exact replica. Then his goal was near an exact replica...strange stuff.
  18. Jayson

    Obafemi Martins

And that Martins hasnt yet complied, or hed be giving the reason and not just say hed asked him. Sounds bad either way
  19. Als Just being kind to Shola, he knows hes at fault for the goal & says he was dissapointed with it. Hes not going to openly slag the players to the media, even if it is Shola. Hes trying to keep them up on a high, not bring things down. No doubt they'll be focusing only on positivity once again.
  20. Jayson

    Obafemi Martins

Pleased with the way Shearer phrased that. Theres no implication at all that he's blaming Oba for it, just disappointed that its happened so late. Saying "we've asked him to explain it" is pretty much pushing the root cause over towards most likely being Martins own fault, or his own bs.
  21. When is carroll going to get his own thread. We're all kissing the ass of a reserve team player when we've a young lad already saving our asses in the premier league. As said, 5 games 3 goals & 1 pen. Should have had another in that first game if you remember aswell. Shows clear passion for us everytime he scores.
  22. Carroll will save us a new legend for newcastle has arrived yaaaaa Hes stepping up big time
  23. We had a lot of possession, that was clear. It gave the illusion that we were constantly under it because everytime they had the ball they got a set piece or throw in & next thing you know we're all bricking it. They didnt actually have the ball at their feet very much atall.
