  1. Good enough to play wing back for Argentina but not Newcastle Different sides that need different things. When you have a bunch of individually skillful players who can create things for themselves, its ok to have a player who can hold the ball and do simple passes. When you have a side that needs it handed to them on the plate, that same player may not be able to contribute as well.
  2. Jesus christ what a bunch of whiners half of you have turned into. If it all goes wrong criticize away, until then give it a second. If we win, so many of you are going to look like right mugs now. Guti will be good against tired legs & Duff is more direct. Dont know whats happened to Oba, we'll find out after. Rest of the team looks fine to me. Not suprised edgar is starting.
  3. Changed mind on my post, dont want to tempt fate. Hope for a good game
  4. Happiness does not come from any of those things. christ i was pissing about man, have a sense of humour for once kind of agree with djmattis though about it - if he's that f***ing unhappy he should return all the money inter have pissed up the wall while he's been trying to get his head together then see how he feels* i guaran-f***ing-tee you he'd be a lot less happy as a binman or a toilet cleaner mate incidentally, as you seem to know, where does happiness come from then? *if he's got genuine mental problems then all of this is moot by the way, however no-one seems to be suggesting this so he's essentially just being a crying little bairn, until i'm told otherwise EDIT: just to clarify this grates on me a bit for a number of reasons not least that i work like f*** in a shitheap of a country away from my family for weeks on end where i spend a lot of time not particularly happy - the difference is i don't have millions of pounds in the bank so i can just throw in my chips and f*** off home 'cause i don't fancy it any more there are millions of people losing their jobs and homes around the world and this pisspot is turning his nose up at being a top level pro footballer, f*** him Same argument could be used towards endless things. People dont see things from others perspective, they see it from their own. There are obviously millions far worse off than you who could have a go at you for claiming your not happy enough even though you have a job & a family. That you're unhappy you dont get to see them for weeks, when they cannot see them atall. etc etc Hard to appreciate what you have unless you've experienced being far worse off for a long period of time, same for anyone. Cant hold it against him tbh.
  5. Doesnt sound like hes been under the confines of Ashleys ideas so far does it with the whole system being changed for him. Dont think even Ashley will make that mistake twice, he knows how we'll react to it. He also went out of his way to get Keegan back remember after it all went wrong.....so he'll be going out his way not to have that situation with Shearer.

And here in article about Oba. Clearly in his thoughts, world of difference to kinnear. Reckon he'll clearly defo get on the pitch before the end of the season.

Shearer in the Journal today saying how impressed hes been by him now hes working up close with him.
  8. Al not happy with the players fitness......sounds like Keegan again. Amount of games where we've been fine until half time only to fall apart second half this season has been ridiculous.
  9. Jayson

    Boro or Hull

With most likely a better goal difference unless both matches are only won by 1 goal.

Might not be bad to bring him on as a sub though, when the oppositions tired.
  11. Either that or use R taylor left back & drop Geremi into right back. Every combinations going to create a weak link at some point tbh. Think our best chance at keeping a clean sheet is just marking Beattie/fuller out of the game though. Bassong and beye are both capable of that. Unless you drop Bassong into left back in the hope that he sweeps up behind Colo if he needs to. Still dangerous though.
  12. Id have 4-3-3 So Geremi/Guthrie would be over on that side. Get Carroll upfront so their big lads have someone harder to deal with & hopefully that'll leave space for Owen & Martins. Get guthrie slottin in through balls to them and it should be happy days. Like i say, last game we exposed their defence rather easily with some nice passing.
  13. Nolan wasnt bad against WBA. Remember he set loven through easily in that game & he missed a sitter. Think it was that game. Wasnt brilliant either tbh. Dont think he'll be good for this game anyway. Against stoke we gotta go out of our way not to give away pointless fouls/free kicks. Thats where theyre dangerous. We were battering them in the other game until Guthrie went off at half time & that was with Geremi in the middle. So prob best to go with that again. Still cant believe we surrendered a 2-0 lead.
  14. Like what he says about slotting balls through the defence for Oba & Owen to run onto, thats exactly what we've been missing. All long ball football & no through balls atall. Goes inline with what he said about playes taking risks in the right areas. Hopefully theyve been working on that in training. Still think Beye & Bassong as centre backs each marking either fuller or Beatie is the best option. Both class defenders that will be able to keep track of them. Fuller took the piss out of colo in the last game...he cant handle it. Get r taylor as right back, beye & bassong in the middle & duff/edgar in left back.
  15. If Guthries alright as they say he'll get started over Nolan. Might keep bassong & beye as centre halfs & use edgar in place of Enrique.

Reckon Nile will get a chance to come on as sub under Al
  17. The best hope colo has is to improve his strength & his tactical awareness through coaching. If he gets stronger...he might not get pushed off the ball so easily...and if he uses his head he wouldnt need to use his pace to catch up to players that have gotten past him in the first place. Hes got a lot of disadvantages to work with though. Taylors looked no worse in the same position, hes actually made several key tackles this season for us. So if anyone looks to have potential to improve under Al its taylor atm. Gets useful goals aswell.
  18. its not, its gradually gotten worse each season. Muscular injurys especially, we regularly have more than double every other side in the prem every season. Never a coincidence, something doing the players in. Als brought in Ferris to have a look at it.

    Ryan Taylor/Nolan

He's slow and s***. As you say, it's better to live in reality rather than have pipe dreams of him suddenly becoming anything else. That was a bit of a crap response really wasnt it. If you've an argument as to why he cannot improve his fitness or why im assuming you think hes always been crap...regardless of the fact that hes a better goalscoring record than any of our other midfielders go ahead and provide it. Not much point typing otherwise. We can all state pointless opinions based on nothing I've been against Nolan's signing from the beginning although I was hoping he'd prove me wrong. I'll repeat the reasons again if you've missed them previously. Nolan has no vision, no ability to pick a through pass, no desire to pass and move (have you seen him do any quick one-two's?) he looks overweight, and he genrally only plays for about 45 mins. Bolton fans were booing him, were delighted to get rid of him and their results have improved since he left. As an athlete, on a scale of 1-10 he'd score 3 if you were being generous. He has no pace whatsoever, no engine and his legs look shot. Is this enough for you or do you think I'm watching a different player to you? I think that you're not able to follow the conversation. Heres some quotes for you Now you've responded by explaining to me that recently he looks overweight..only plays for 45 mins etc Look at what im saying & decide for yourself whether your argument has any relevance to anything im claiming. I didn't realise that you only wanted to discuss Nolan's fitness and not his qualities as a player but if we are doing this in lawyer-speak then I'll just say if he's not fit to play an important role this season then he was a waste of money. By the time he is fit (if ever), we'll have better players available like Barton or Guthrie. Just trying to put things as simply as possible. You're arguing about his current ability which i have already agreed isnt very good...so it seems kind of pointless. I put this down to the fact that hes currently a chubby lard & no where near his full ability. Even so hes still got as many assists this season as anyone else in our team. Add to that the fact hes a far better goalscoring history than any of our current midfielders and hes not some disasterous signing as some of you are making out. You can only compare him to what we currently have. Not some fantasy team you have in your mind. Hes not a bad signing compared to what we have....obviously it could have been better. A lot of our signings COULD have been. We COULD have done a whole lot of things differently this season, but you have to analyze what you currently have and leave it at that. Even with Barton back he could have a role in the team, whether coming on as a sub to get goals or simply being a squad player. Its very likely that Barton or guthrie or both will be out of the first team again at some point in the future & its never bad to have a midfielder who likes to get foward and has proven he can put the ball in the back of the net every season. He wont have lost that at 26...you dont peak at that age....hes just lost his fitness & its obviously all dependant on him getting that back.

    Obafemi Martins

Well said. Our win and draw ratios are a lot higher when Martins starts than when he doesn't, that's for sure. Do you have these stats? If so I wouldn't mind looking at them. In January or February (can't remember and can't be arsed to look it up again), this season we had 1.5 points per game with Martins in the side compared to 0.5 without him. Obviously you can't put it down to one player though, and that's not looking at which games he actually played. I remember someone bringing up a stat that we'd only won 2 of the last 22 games we'd played without Martins in the team.

Yes I've noticed you and Jayson save your negative judgements for Coloccini, so you must be going easy on Nolan to compensate. Nice strategy. Quite a few save their negative judgements for colo, this is because hes been playing crap. Not to complicated surely. Nolan is more likely to improve & hasnt cost us as many games as colo. One is clearly fit the other is not.
