He's slow and s***. As you say, it's better to live in reality rather than have pipe dreams of him suddenly becoming anything else. That was a bit of a crap response really wasnt it. If you've an argument as to why he cannot improve his fitness or why im assuming you think hes always been crap...regardless of the fact that hes a better goalscoring record than any of our other midfielders go ahead and provide it. Not much point typing otherwise. We can all state pointless opinions based on nothing
-
You gotta live in reality Im not claiming hes any real use to us currently but it was probably either Nolan or no one. So of all the players to get in such a desperate position, atleast he could be half useful in the future.
-
But it can turn a s***/average player, someone who's more sensitive to criticism or praise, into a better player. See: Parker, Scott and Bramble, Titus. Dont think it has much to do with it tbh, if they have more ability than theyre showing it'll be down to how theyre being coached more than anything else. You dont get to premiership level footie by being sensative to criticism.
-
We need Colo dropped if only to stop you banging on in every single thread about the same issue. He is a bit crap tho isnt he
-
Has a better goalscoring history than any of our other current midfielders. Around 40 goals over the last 5 season in total. As i say, 26 years old...can easily get him back to fitness. Could be a good player for us in the future.
-
Nolans just not fit enough, hes proven he has quality. You dont pass your best at 26. Not that bad a signing tbh. Taylor is debatable, still think he could be useful backup to beye or something. Or on right wing until we have anyone better.
-
Nothing wrong with having a go at a player that cocks everything up. Doesnt effect very much, its down to their own level of determination. If theyre good enough they'll suceed regardless. People need to realise that supporting a player isnt going to miraculously turn them world class.

Mirror has some footage of it: http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/football-banter/2009/04/watch-alan-shearer-score-a-goa.html

Thats what I was thinking You have seen Carroll 'play' for the first team then? He's played like 4 times this season. Set up a pen v Wigan & should have been given a 2nd. Scored 2 goals in other games. Not really a bad record is it for his first proper break into the first team. Hopefully Al can work with him & get his potential out. Dunno why people are down on him. He's 20x more capable than Shola.

It is funny that people are so quick to write off these two who have only just joined & played in some hard games. Yet the guy who actually managed to lose us the game last sat & has had all season to adjust, is clearly having "confidence" issues and probably has potential (Based on nothing). Even though he hasnt proved himself to have any ability atall in this league & the other two have. HE must be the only one whos lack of confidence is affecting his game. Couldnt possibly effect one of our new signings who has a great weight of expectation on him...far more than colo ever experiences...every time he steps up to take a set piece, as that was probably the only reason we bought him. Has also already stated endlessly the position he wants to play in which is consistantly ignored. No no, poor colo. Lets not make him a scapegoat.
-
I love how at best, people can name about 4 games where he debatably put in a half decent performance & dont realise that saying this means theyre basically agreeing hes been average/crap the other 27. Yet supposedly its only his recent performances which anyone can criticize.

Bassong only played a handful of times before Fulham and they were all at left back, I can't remember him covering up for Colo. The relevance? You said he only played well because Bassong was mopping up for him! Games played well in: Man U, Bolton, Fulham (at least for most of the game), Chelsea, Boro (although can't remember much from this game). And do you define "played well" as him making good tackles, interceptions, headed clearances etc or simply not making any ridiculous errors. Because i saw all the games you've named & i do not remember seeing very much that impressed atall. As i say, beyond people pointing out his great level of "composure". Realistically, there are far far far more games at the start, middle & end of the season where you can pick out colo's errors that have lead to goals over any moments he actually had a beneficial impact. From the Arsenal game, he has been at fault often
-
Well thats not true, but even if it was i dont see the relevance. Name the games colo proved he had any ability in.

Now seeing a player lacking confidence.... he's been dreadful all season get a season ticket man. Tell me who this good technical South American footballer you see is because it wasn't the one that showed that dreadful first touch of his leading to the goal that ultimately lost us the game last Saturday. The continuous excuses for this dreadful player has gone on long enough he has consistently cost us goals and ultimately matches all season which if it continues will result in relegation now if Alan with the standards he expects doesn't have him dropped at first chance I'll be very surprised. Colo was a good defender till about November so I its rubbish saying he's been terrible all season. I didnt see that atall. Some games he did alright, mainly because bassong mopped up behind him. I never saw him excel in his own right, i offer anyone to name a few games where he did. Taylors made several key tackles this season, bassong the same, enriques been class..beye always is.....but Colo...Dont see it atall. Hilarious that hes our most expensive.

Some are just in some serious denial over the fact that we've yet again wasted a large sum on a player who isnt good enough. Luckily this time we flukely got a class one for barely anything at the same time. Who knows where we'd have been with taylor and colo all season, especially with injuries.
-
Bs. No one can possibly state that Colocinni "will come good". A statement based on nothing but hope. He has shown in no way this season any reason to believe that he will & out of all our defenders this season, he has easily looked the most hopeless. So whether thats down to lack of ability or lack of determination. He clearly lacks something that the others have. Wheres the reason to believe that he'll come good. Because he did well in a completely different league, with a different style of play that didnt expose his weaknesses ? Oh yeah, hes gonna be a star.
-
Maybe when a players barely come back from injury as their first match. But having been brought on as a sub in the prem, Kinnear/hughton would never then put them into the following reserve game.
-
Actually using reserve games to get a players fitness up....amazing turn of events
-
did you watch the WBA game or just the highlights on MOTD? He didn't even look that good then Because your opinion is so often well thought out isnt it. Most were praising Taylor then & he did similar for Wigan. It doesnt all dissapear miraculously, if you have the ability you have it.
-
Ryan taylors inability to take a decent free kick now is a perfect example of what the pressure of nufc can do to a player. Theres no way a player who can score so many free kicks against us with ease...who looked so good in that first game for us suddenly cant even get it past the first man. Must have been training with Geremi.

Theres defo a glaring lack of movement in our side. Meaning the simple passes they could have become even harder & theyre just not capable enough half the time. Pass and move is such a simple concept you'd think. Half the time they dont even try to get into space, think it comes from the fact that they dont really want to have the ball...a key factor when a side has a lack of confidence. Negative thinking. None of them want to be the ones to cock it all up...so they pass it and dont try as hard as they COULD to get it back again. You watch rooney and gerrard for England, rooney especially. He ALWAYS wants the ball...he never stops trying to get away from players to get it...just so he can get his head up and find someone..create a move. The mark of a player with real confidence in himself & his ability. We just dont have that atm. Hopefully shearer will bring it back into them..they defo need a leader. Having Beye & Barton out we've really lacked that.
-
In their last home game v boro they looked awful. Lucky to win with near a last min goal, it could easily have gone either way. Same happened against west brom earlier in the season. They've a good record at home, but often largely down to luck rather than brilliant performances. I still think, we play our best we will beat them well. We'll have to keep Beattie out of it though.
-
*cough* Stoke have only lost 3 matches at home this season.
-
Early part of the season being The Man U & Bolton game ?? Because he had a disaster of a game against Arsenal & it carried on from there. Even against United and Bolton he didnt nothing big did he, i just remember peopel saying general crap lik ehow good his "Composure" was. Any excuse to praise the new expensive signing really. He did nothing special atall.
