For all the amount of insane bs mike ashley has managed this season, who would have thought we'd see Keegan & Shearer back managing the club in the same season ?

Its not an april fools, just laughable timing as usual. They wouldnt do this as an april fools itd never work, Newcastle or Alan would have quashed the bs by now if it were. This is a worry tbh. I'm sure it will be a boost for him and he will do a lot better, but not so sure if he is worth keeping around even if this happens. His fitness is a huge worry at this point and that salary of his is massive. Wonder if Shearer could coax him down back into reality in signing a more realistic contract as they're closer. If we can get him off ridiculous wages he'd be very very useful for us.

Realistically speaking, the better quality options such as Bruce etc wouldn't touch us with a bargepole if we went down. We'd have been stuck with Kinnear. Shearer would be the best option, definitely. I think playing under Shearer for Newcastle United could convince a few players (not the likes of Owen, Martins, Jonas obviously) to stay one year with us in the CCC and try to get us promoted. Could be very right there. There are so many benefits to this. The players that will want to stay, the players that will want to sign for us if he stays, the level of leadership he naturally has anyway. Perfect all over

Bent has 10 league goals this season, better than Owen, and only 5 behind the premiership's top scorer. Bent hasn't started nearly as many as Owen either Is Capello laughable? because he clearly agrees with me. Owen has failed at international level post 98. He's chipped in with a few goals in friendlies but where it matters he hasn't delivered. Problem you have is that your argument that he provides nothing but goals is only based on his recent form for Newcastle. Under keegan behind the front two he often was the one linking up play half the time. He has done the same for England, often dropping back a bit unless told to stay upfront. His movement also gives opportunitys to any strike partner as he is an intelligent player who knows how to drag defenders around, providing his strike partner then gets the service to make this any use to anyone. Add the fact that hes a class finisher & you have a very good player. Certainly not a Shearer & clearly not a world class captain. But a very good player who is being underused by us CLEARLY.

Guthrie did show the difference in class between First team & Reserves/U18 generally Id say Cacapa showed that hes not even good enough for reserves Baheng looks a useful player just as Lua Lua did, both should be given a go here and there in first team. Nile kept out of it by their defender tbh who looked good. So hard to judge on that game.
