  1. Id take Keegan again in a second if the next time he pisses off we're atleast mid table. Him coming and going would improve our side a whole lot quicker than waiting for the current muppets to get their act together.
  2. Been away for a bit and missed the game, any news on why Jonas wasnt played Just another cock up or what ??
  3. Dunno, think Brambles errors were just far more obvious and we could see when he was costing us goals. Bet if you went back over the highlights this season and looked for where colos been run past easily, badly positioned, or easily beaten in the air. Youd find a very similar amount of errors, probably far more that cost us goals. Dont think its a coincidence that we have one of the very best defenders we've ever had in recent times in Bassong, yet conceded the 3rd most goals in the entire league. Colo having played all games. Its not magic is it really. Whether his form is down to him, bad management, confidence or whatever else is debatable. But facts are it is HIS form.
  4. Generally the whole point of watching football is for enjoyment. That is why we support Newcastle. When you get more despair, anger, frustration etc than any thing close to resembling even hope of any form.....then i dont see anything wrong with people looking to avoid going through that. Especially given how long the bs has been going on for this season, doesnt make them less fans or any of that nonsense. Ill still watch as i often live in fantasy land & would hold some glimmer of hope that we could beat Chelsea even if we played with blind schoolchildren. No doubt their movement off the ball would be better than the current lot.
  5. Thing is, even bramble had his strengths. He had his endless cockups, but he had physical strength to...he could win a ball in the air. Colocinni so far has shown very little of anything over here. Cant remember ever seeing him head a ball away...he might win the rare 1 on 1 thats about it. For a central defender thats not good enough. Whatever you want to say about his capabilities for next season. THIS season, HE has been a big part of our current position. Simple as that, not good enough.
  6. Main positive about S taylor right now is his attitude & the fact he can actually get goals. Cant understand how we dont win more headers in attacking situations tbh. Butt doesnt go up for them anymore..no idea why not. Bassong is class defending them but cannot doesnt touch anything down the other end, dont understand it. Must be crap set piece training.
  7. Dont agree with this idea next season will definately be disasterous to. So much of this season was determined by the early negativity surrounding Keegan and injurys. Fresh season & New start. Key players are Martins, Barton & Bassong. Keep those 3 fit in the side for near every game & it'll be happy days.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Enrique should be the one doing the crossing, imo. Jonas can do the leg work, draw the double team and then feed the ball to Enrique. The forwards should be getting in a position for a cross from Jose, rather than Jonas. When was the last time we scored a goal through buildup in the middle of the pitch? Happened exactly like that once during the hull match, two players on Jonas....Enrique made the run down the line. Gets the ball as one player follows him but he has the advantage of being in full flight...crossed the ball to the near post & none of the striker had anticipated it. Went for a corner for Geremi to waste. Shame they only tried it once. Last goal through middle was from Martins first v aston villa i think ?
  9. Very very likely team will be: ---------------------Harper---------------------- S Taylor---Coloccini---Bassong---Enrique-- R Taylor-----Nolan-------Butt-------Jonas--- ---------------Owen-----Martins--------------- Geremi hasnt had a 2nd chance all season so this shouldnt be any different thankfully. Butt and owen will not be dropped. S taylor will keep his place after the goal. Reckon even with our management they'll give Lovenkrands a go this time & leave out Ameobi. They are morons, but they do change things when it doesnt work.

    Jonas Gutierrez

If enrique overlapped with him more often it would make life a lot easier for him. He has to learn to cut inside more to...he's so left footed that he always goes on the outside. Makes him to predictable.
  11. West brom, hull & stoke still. Reckon the bigger sides will come good including us. Just cant imagine a strike force of Owen & Martins being in a side who are relegated regardless of midfield ability. We'll get more goals before this season ends, we just have to hope our defence sorts itself.
  12. Because kinnear made such a difference on match day when we lost to Hull, or in any game since christmas. Our performances have been better under Hughton tbh. Win at west brom, draw with Everton with 10 men, good performance against united...and...uh a draw with Hull. Sad thing is, in terms of management this might be as good as it gets. I think its pretty obvious that Kinnear did not choose the subs/team v man united. As he wouldn't have played Lua Lua. And whoever chose to start Lovenkrands for Man united & not use Ameobi atall, is not the same person who chose not to play lovenkrands for Hull & bring Ameobi on as a sub. Shows completely different levels of faith in each players ability. Cannot come from the same person & loven did nothing to go down in the pecking order. So since its likely hughton did his own thing v Man U, it seems Kinnear had a word for the Hull game. Probably thinking he could make the difference to the side to get us a win.

Which would be football more than anything else surely, doesnt make to much sense to me. Obviously lots is down to character. The kind of players who would become unmotivated by the fact that they have a crap manager are not the kind of players who are good enough anyway. The character of someone like that is not built for winning. The kind of players that get big have a perfectonist attitude and a drive to improve endlessly...to be better than everyone else and better than they were previously. They want to improve status & reputation...get into the national teams etc Id hope that anyone who makes it to premiership level thinks like that in the first place. Dont believe its down to natural ability in the most, more character. If we're playing badly it shouldnt be down to lack of motivation, but down to purely not having a clue wtf their role is in the team. Like hulls first goal, s taylor was busy pointing at colo to go mark Fagan as he was running down the wing...colo didnt move so taylor had to run back out again...didnt get their soon enough...cross & goal. Its that kind of basic bs that is doing us in, not motivation.
  14. Team on paper is a very good side. To be honest sorting our midfield would make a massive massive difference. Right now Jonas is our midfield & the others make up the numbers. I still think Barton coming back will be key. Hes the only one who shows the spirit they all claim to have in these interviews on the pitch...the only one who looks to be able to drive them fowards. Problem is he'll need a few games before hes even half back to his best.
  15. Still get rid. Hes shown no level of tactical awareness whatsoever. The closest he got was the fluke of bringing Duff on in the 89th min v tottenham who miraculously scored. Even if he didnt play Butt, Smith or Shola.....at best hes doing what any sane person would. As fans i think we want a manager who knows more than us about the game, not someone whos barely catching up. How can you have any faith in that.
  16. Only overly harsh on colo because of the price tag. Cant say i watched him La liga, was he a massively different player ? Tbh seems to me if he spent a fair amount of time in the gym and got his strength up...had better coaches training him, a lot of his weaknesses from this season could be fixed hopefully. He just stands off to much atm, allowing players to beat him with pace in to many scenarios. Remember him and S taylor both standing off Ronaldo dancing around our left side of our area in the Man u game...got a clear shot off easily..just hit it badly luckily for us. Couldnt understand it, no pressure on him atall. Ridiculous against a player like Ronaldo. Get him to stay tighter & have a bigger physical presence he'd probably be far harder to play against...he'd win a lot more headers also. They just ease him off atm to easily. These two do have the potential to create our best central defense in a long time though...atm 75% of that is down to Bassong.
  17. I think (hope) that Ashleys plan was to keep Kinnear on until the end of the season to give the players a sense of stability. Theyve all been moaning about quickly changing managers, so hes probably put stability as the priority. Hoping that this would help them get sorted over time...that he shouldnt rock the boat. Realistically though now...he HAS to be realising this isnt good enough. The players need proper guidance more than stability at this point, they need someone who they believe actually has a clue as to wtf hes doing. Such a massively clear difference between Keegans results last season & this seasons.....same players...its beyond evident. Under Keegan we didnt lose to a side outside the top 6... Not a coincidence.
  18. Based on their fitness though, I can only see Nolan getting a start. I can only see Beye getting a run out if we are defending a lead (can't see that!). Guthrie will get at least 20 I would have thought. Or knowing our management... they'll start with a clearly unfit Guthrie, replace him with Geremi 10 mins from the end & leave Nolan on the bench
  19. Because Lovenkrands has never played or scored in any other football match before joining us obviously.....
  20. Agree that Owen should have been brought on midway through 2nd half at most. No idea why Hughton changed anything from the Man u game, fair enough Ryan taylor seriously messed up...but i never saw him do that for Wigan. Surely a one off, you gotta give the guy the benefit of the doubt when you just shed out millions for him and you have Geremi as a replacement. Completely moronic decision, Ameobi coming on was just beyond words. I find it amazing that every single fan knew that was a bad decision but they cannot see it... Reckon as some have been saying though it must be down to Kinnear. Last game Hughton actually brought Lua Lua on.....now that is not a Kinnear move. He also left Ameobi out. Why would the person who starts Lovenkrands against united...pick Ameobi..a player deemed not good enough for that match...over the guy they picked to start who also scored. Have a hard time believing those two sides were picked by the same person. Reckon Kinnear is doing us from the sidelines making all the decisions. Hes the one who favoured Ameobi.
  21. Agree with what you say..but he has to be chosen over the likes of Geremi. Also think he offers more than R taylor attacking wise tbh. Taylor is good with crossing etc...but none of our players are that good at heading..so it kinda cancels itself out. I suppose now owens back he could be useful, will have to see. Anyone but Geremi.
  22. When Barton came back earlier in the season he had key roles in our two wins in a row v Westbrom and aston villa. Set up the pen against west brom & set up martins first against villa. Both simple through balls from midfield setting up our attackers in dangerous positions...two wins. He then went out and we've been useless since then. He's not even brilliant at through balls...hes just far better than anyone else in our side. He's just our most dangerous midfielder and we need him. Martins is obviously good still, i think he lacks the confidence he used to have. That chance he had against man united a few years ago would have been smashed in.
  23. Beye aint average he's class. The rest are all weak links.
  24. Harper - Doesnt look a replacement for Given. Clearly his reflexes dont look to be what they once were. Colocinni - Hasnt proven himself in any way whatsoever. To slow, easily dominated in the air, lacks strength, slow reaction speed, stands off players for to long...on this seasons showings he's lacked most of the essential qualities needed to be a good defender in the premiership. He's sometimes alright in a 1on1 situation. I dont see him being able to improve these any time soon...& think the prem just doesnt suit him. At best even if he improves in some areas...like his reaction speed..standing off etc. He'll be a player who simply doesnt make many mistakes, with Bassong sweeping up behind him just incase. No potential to excel like Bassong though. No where near justifys his 10 mill tag. Duff - Not as bad a player as everyone makes out, can be quite an attacking force at times & generally tends to have more end product than gutierrez on recent showings. Doesnt have the potential to single handedly change a game really though as Gutierrez does...but you normally know what you're getting. Butt - legs gone...been a bit better recent games. Still crap. Why doesnt he go up for corners/freekicks anymore (Management???), used to be one of our better headers of the ball. Gutierrez - Has shown the potential to be a class player...like owen hed be better in a better side. Where players actually move into space for him and dont just watch and hope he'll go past 2 players on his own. Brilliant at tracking back. Has a woeful shot on him & not the best crosser tbh Needs to learn to cut inside instead of going outside all the time, to predictable. In our position, players like Milner/n'zogbia are far more useful though. Less potential than Jonas, but able to provide far more to a team who plays as we do consistantly. Milner was better at shooting & crossing (Corners, freekicks), Zog was more dangerous when running at players...simply because hed cut inside though & had a decent shot on him. Barton - A key player for us. Our best passer of through balls, our best shooter from midfield, our best defensive midfielder, the one player who could possibly drive them on when needed. If hes in the side at his best its a whole different Newcastle. Martins - The same player who smashed one in against tottenham ? Hard to believe he's 24 Owen - lots been said about him. In a good side hes brilliant, in a side playing like us near useless. To many long balls when hes short. Or we pass to his feet when theres a 6'2 lad standing on his heels......the guy needs through balls. Should be simple sh.t...couldnt be more obvious. We should be playing to him and martins strengths...their runs. No one in centre mid gets foward enough to put through balls in even if they could...guti stays on the outside to much. Its all moronic. Even put him behind the two strikers, anything to give him space. Just dont leave him upfront in a 4-4-2 if the midfield wont get foward. Lovenkrands - Has played upfront in a 4-4-2 twice and scored both times. Clearly has owen like instincts for poaching...has stated he prefers being upfront. Should be played constantly. Overall though we've lost Given, Milner & Zog and replaced them with players who cannot help us as much.
  25. That's s****. We certainly haven't lost against Arsenal at home in the league in the last 3 seasons You're right just checked. I was under the impression they usually took us apart, probably confusing them with liverpool. Still reckon they'll do us though. Just our luck that all these teams come into form just before we play them.
