Everton 0 - 1 Newcastle United - 18/09/10 - post match reaction from page 36

I was saying not long ago, we seemed to go on a real drought of scoring good goals. The turgid relegation season had very, very few moments of quality. I can't think of a single screamer we scored that season. Best goal was probably Duff vs Spurs, or maybe Martins vs Wigan. We've already loads of good ones this season though -

For me yes. We've had some good'uns though. Barton vs Villa and Raylor vs Accrington run it close. -

Crespo was Parma and Lazio, when he was at his best. Didn't fail THAT badly at Chelsea actually, 20 goals in 50 appearences. Infact his first season was great.

Newcastle v Manchester City Sun 26/12/10 15:00 - Pre Match Thread

Actually looking forward to it far more than Christmas Day. If it gets called off I'd literally cry myself to DEATH. It really shouldn't like, even if it does snow heavy they should be well prepared. -
58008 Or the more advanced... 55378008 boobs are more fun than boobless. QFT.

When I said leave Keane up to 'some other mugs', my first thought would be West Ham like.

Different Serginho...we're on about the 82 one...not a vintage. Ah sorry, didn't read the rest of the posts. I'll let you dinosaurs continue

The man in my avatar.

They had that wonderful midfield of Eder, Cerezo, Socrates, Zico and Falcao, but up front they had the ungainly figure of Serginho, who probably wouldn't have made it into any other Brazil team before or since. But yes, I remember at the time they were a sensation. Even non-football fans were talking about them. Serginho was a poor man's Justin Fashanu.Shocking player. Only player ever to make Zanetti look like a mug.

makes no difference. It does for the next set of qualifiers. Considering he's not in the current set up for the Championship coming up, and his last appearence at any youth level was back in 2009 I think it's safe to say his career in youth internationals is over.
-
Was in the U21 set-ups, he's 22 now.
-
He's definitely only worth it if you were in a position to spend money and then loan him back out. He's got potential, but is certainly living off hype at the moment. It's worth noting that he has had injury problems this season and when he has started he has been a handful.
-
He's got potential, but he's far from a Premiership player at the moment and he's pretty similar to Carroll (although is a better player on the floor than Carroll was at 17). Apparently he doesn't completely see eye-to-eye with Keane, and that has fueled the link that Ipswich will try to cash in on him. While he suits our 'model' he is probably a bit too expensive at the moment and is not really the player we need right now.
-
Fuck me I thought you lot were just talking about numbers for the crack, didn't realise there was actually a suggestion we're going to sign him permanently
-
That made laugh Same. He's definitely a #10 like. Continental attacking midfielders = #10. Carroll #9 Ben Arfa #10 A striker that isn't Peter Lovenrands #11

You've always had a secret love-in for Simpson tbh Dave. Even when he was slated you were proclaiming little Danny had become 'underrated' I agree, though.
-
Okay. Your original retaliation just seemed completely unrelated to the point I was making though

"May aswell sign nobody if we're not going to improve the first XI." Suggests that the first team is all that matters. If our backups are s***, surely we should look to replace them as well? Pardew's comments suggest that we are going to sign backups to the likes of Shola and Gutierrez, rather than actively trying to improve on them. We have a reasonably deep squad, the problem is that this squad depth is mainly comprised of players who are not completely up to it at this level, adding more of these types of players (which is what those quotes appear to suggest) just seems pointless to me. I'd rather we bought one good striker than 3 Championship players to further pad our squad with rubbish. Rather than replacing squad players we should be relegating some of the current starters to backup players. That's how it normally works when teams want to improve.

What?

We have enough shit squad players. Some of them are currently starting.
