  1. Yeah, Keisling has had a great season aswell.
  2. Ronaldo still achieved more in his early years than pretty much every other footballer has in a whole career. He didn't even the need the years he was fat in.
  3. Christ man Disco, great minds.
  4. Really hope Suarez scores and then shush's the crowd. Would be funny. Btw, they should have games to decide 5th, 6th, 7th place etc. This is brilliant.
  5. Yep, 2002 one was a great game.
  6. But I take it you're referring to the Carrick that moved to ManU for £14m and had a few solid seasons for them, as opposed to the Carrick that played last year for them? His entire game is based around his passing/distribution. He's not a natural ball winner, he's not the most athletic of players, he's not a goal threat, and technically he's very limited on the ball (which is why he passes it quickly in the first place). Since he was very poor last year in terms of passing/distributing the ball, shockingly so at times, and his touch had deserted him, he was pretty much a nothing player for ManU. Compared to Gibson, he looked inferior when Gibson did play imo. Can't say I noticed Gibson's touch/passing being awful, maybe you're right as it's often easy for poor players to be masked in good teams, but with Carrick being so visibly piss poor, merely posing a goal threat was enough for Gibson to look a better player imo. And given that Gibson is younger with possibly more room to improve as well as being from the ManU academy, maybe Fergie sees him as a better prospect than Carrick? Or as Dave says, it might be that he wants to bring through other prospects. But with Scholes and Giggs on the wane, and Carrick being in a prime age for a midfielder in his position, surely Fergie wanting him out should ring alarm bells for anyone? Assuming there's truth in this rumour. And of course the notion of him being another Butt type Fergie cast-off depends on whether last season was a blip for Carrick, or the start of a slide. If Fergie does let him go, I'd hedge my bets on it being the latter - he's not infallable, but if there's a manager out there who excels at getting rid of players at the right time then it's Fergie. To be fair, his first couple of seasons he was very good. My Man U supporting mate reckons Carrick was one of their most consistent players for the first couple of years, but said that last season was disastrous and he seems to have slipped completely - like you said. Whether he's on the downward slope or not I'm not entirely convinced, he might be, but Gibson is not the man to step up and replace him. Neither of them (Carrick or Gibson) are good enough for them in the future. If they're planning on replacing Scholes long term with a player like Gibson then they're making a massive falldown. Gibson is a poor passer of the ball, has very little vision, doesn't have fantastic technique infact the only thing he does have which can be compared with Scholes is in being able to strike the ball well when shooting. Of course very few players have anywhere near the ability of Scholes, considering he's probably the best English midfielder since Gazza. Even of the limited viewing I've had of Cleverley I'd rate him higher than Gibson. Despite being 2/3 years younger his vision and technique is definitely better than the Irishman's.
  7. He's definitely not inferior to Gibson. Gibson is crap, like really crap. Beyond having a canny shot once in a while he's terrible technically, in terms of passing, vision etc. He actually would struggle to improve our midfield in that sense.
  8. Another thing different between the Spain and Barca sides. Clue: It beings with M and ends in essi.
  9. Another two years. Aye, thought so.
  10. Smith looked just as useless in the Championship last season as he did in the Premiership. Can't believe we're gonna be stuck with him and his wages - how long does he have left on his contract?
  11. That's a trend that needs to stop happening on here.
  12. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/chelsea/7882754/Ricardo-Carvalho-set-to-sign-for-Inter-Milan-as-Chelsea-move-for-Bruno-Alves.html Strange one. 32 and isn't going to break in ahead of Lucio and Samuel, to joing Cordoba and Matrix on the bench?
  13. Think we need a quick, strong, physical presence alongside him. Infact I think we need a player of this ilk in general in the squad. Anthony Annan for Ghana would be absolutely spot on but I think he's heading for bigger things after his World Cup.
  14. He'll have to tbh. Smith and Nolan cannot be relied upon in the Prem, and Barton? Will he be fit?
  15. Kily Gonzalez, Santagio Solari, Pierre Wome, Ze Maria, Favalli, David Pizarro... I'll give Mattis the floor on this one as I may seem bias, but to blame two young strikers still adapting to top flight football, is both harsh and naive. That's why the blame should lie with the management, for entrusting two young players with that level of responsibility. I'm pretty sure Julio Cruz was actually top scorer that season.
  16. Butt with a cool finish and Huntington on the score sheet. That game was bizarre, especially so in hindsight.
  17. Kily Gonzalez, Santagio Solari, Pierre Wome, Ze Maria, Favalli, David Pizarro...
  18. He was good. Explosive and showed alot of passion playing for Inter, had 1 season where he got 20+ goals...not bad for somebody who had 'better' players ahead of him. Like I said at the time Inter fans were on the majority dissapointed to see him go. They handed the keys to the team to him and Adriano in 2005-6. They're inconsitency was the team's downfall that season. Definitely, but that's bad management rather than bad on Oba's behalf. Still got the title by default regardless He was what, 20/21 at the time? Hardly the age to be leading the line on his own for a big club like Inter. When he left Inter at the time most fans were dissapointed to see him go, because they saw him as a big talent for the future. He was irratic, inconsistent sure - but they're the kind of faults that should have been ironed out over the coming years (something that never happened here). Here's a scope of how Inter fans felt about the decision to let him go: http://forzainterforums.com/showthread.php?3392-Ratings-of-the-transfers-of-the-summer-1-by-1 In hindsight it was a great decision by the management to cash in.

  20. They've just sold their star striker Bukharov to Zenit, so I guess this is their replacement. He's getting first team chances where he wouldn't have got (and didn't last season) with Wolfsburg. Still a step down though imo, even when all things are considered.
  21. Fwiw I never really grew to love Martins when he was here. He frustrated me no end, and I was never that bothered when he left. Funny because I was over the moon when we signed him as he was superb for Inter, lots of Inter fans were gutted they'd sold him and replaced him with Ibra.
  22. True, and CL football aswell. Still I'd bet he wishes he was still playing in a top league tbh. He's on a slippery slope to his career fading out completely.
  23. That move worked out didn't it Oba, you JOURNEYMAN.
