I'm with you. Was willing to give it a chance but now think it's basically become a tedious procession, with little weight being given to games that should be heavyweight clashes. Inter have rested 4-5 of their best players tonight because the league game at the weekend is bigger, and they know they're probably already through this early on. The new format has reduced the jeopardy rather than increase it.

He's been playing as a support striker behind the other lad though, and they've been banging them in between them. 8 goals (4 assists) in 13 this season isn't bad anyway. I'm still glad we didn't sign him, as pretty sure we'd have not got Isak, but you can see he's got a lot of ability now he's gone to the right kind of club to play for.

Yep, this is it. But I don't think people realise how difficult a lot of old buildings are to adapt to new uses. Retail demands changed so dramatically in a short space of time - and most of that demolished wasn't usable for what people wanted. Same story with the old city hall and the new civic centre - the old city hall was completely unfit for purpose (not that it necessarily should have been knocked down). Ultimately cities do need to be vehicles for the economy and society more than they do museum pieces - it is a balance. In hindsight some form of facadism might have been a good compromise to retaining the historic appearance of old Eldon Square - but it would have been far more expensive I would say. And that option certainly wasn't in vogue at the time.
