  1. It hasn't fallen through. Juve are signing them both.

Yeah I definitely don't think he's commanding, certainly not aerially. His ability on the ball and pace would be great assets to have for us, alongside his personality, but do worry a bit if we play him alongside Schar. I have always generally been against paying big transfer fees for defenders, because I've felt defending was more coaching and organisation and you can get more from less. The VVD signing broke the mould on that for me - seeing how transformative he was and worth Liverpool both waiting and then paying the big £. On a similar note looking at a player like Gvardiol and what he offers as a footballer to City. If we do sign him I think it's not 100% that he'd be worth the money - but I'd trust the club as we seem determined.

He's having a bit of a mare from what I've seen

My biggest worry is not the issue with agreeing the deal but that I think there's no chance Palace sell unless they secure his direct replacement. There's a lot of moving parts, and we're essentially heading into the last week of the window (that includes midweek fixtures for both clubs) depending on getting this deal signed to save our window. We've put all our eggs into one basket and pushed it right to the wire.

Gonna be a genuine shitshow if this does collapse as we enter last week of the window and we do nowt.

Faroe Islands will be one with Klasvik and TNS just now for Wales.
  8. Even the club website announced it as 2025 when he signed his new deal. Unless he had a trigger for an extra year or we've done it on the sly then it's up next year.
  9. No Hope basically saying unless we can shift Almiron or others out there's no chance of a right winger, with all our focus going on Guehi.
  10. We have more left back cover now though and Hall can play midfield.
  11. The amount of entirely contrasting Trippier ITK stuff I've seen on both here and in the real world is absolutely mind numbing
  12. 2025 according to transfermarkt and .com
  13. Definitely fucked up not selling him to Bayern in January mind.
  14. Wouldn't work as he's out of contract next year.
  15. Been a brilliant signing in general but it felt like things went sour last season and it's felt like he's been determined to leave since. Wouldn't let him go on loan though. Fee or he can suck it up.
  16. Merge with Guehi thread
  17. It's definitely a shambles IMO. I'd probably have rather sold one of them early and reloaded with 3-4 signings if that's what it meant to keep us moving forward. Controversial maybe. This is no major signings for two windows and stagnation at best of the squad.

Parish has absolutely played us mind.

Yeah that'll be this done. I think Guehi will sign a 1 year extension with a buyout clause now. Big pressure on us to deliver something before the end of the window and avoid a total shambles tbh.
  20. The Matt Targett signing is probably for me what a misstep for us in the market looks like. It was well reported at the time he wasn't our first choice for left back, but we ended up going for him permanently to get the requisite body in the door early and get our window rolling that summer. Ultimately though he was right in the 'buy wrong, buy twice' category given that we've since signed two new left backs in his position. Wrong age, wrong pricepoint and ultimately just the wrong profile. Unlucky with injuries no doubt but ultimately even without those injuries he's an example of a bad signing I'd say given that he'd only ever have plugged a gap and then depreciate in value. He's obviously better and more expensive but I think Joe Gomez would fall into a similar category and would be a mistake of a signing. What I would say is I feel like we've lost all confidence in the Nickson type signings from Europe. There has to be Bruno, Botman type profiles we can go for in that £30-40 million price point with minimal fuss negotiating with European clubs. There has barely been a single solid rumour of that type except for Thiaw. This is the first window so far where I'm really struggling to get my head around what we're doing, and as a result also worrying that we don't really know either.
  21. I'm actually starting to think we might not do anything. I get the caution over getting it right but this will have been a disaster of a window if we don't deliver on at least one of those key positions.
