Official: Yoan Gouffran signs new contract with Goztepe
ponsaelius replied to Tooj's topic in Football
Says who? He's scored more than Remy both this season and last season. I think the price tag is making people ignore this guys record for some reason, he's quite clearly a good player by any account. Remy scored 20 goals last season..... i'm pretty certain Gouffran didn't score more than that tbh.... Remy is comfortably a better footballer than Gouffran, because he's struggled with injuries since end of last season doesn't change that. We shouldn't be comparing Gouffran to Remy tbh, Gouffran is a decent player and should do well but he's nowhere near Remy and he never will be. Always nice to see fans downplaying new players ability and potential even before he has kicked a ball for us. Well yeah, it's a much preferable option to hyping them up to ridiculous levels. -

Most of the French journalists have said he's pretty average and that Ligue 1 is likely his level, whereas Remy is a full international and regarded as a talented player who's fallen out of form this season. Stats don't tell the whole story. I'm not saying he can't be a useful signing, he almost certainly will be especially with our lack of pace/options upfront. A record is much more important than an opinion of a journalist. I'm not buying this talk but I guess we'll see against Villa Is it? The journalists/fans that watch French football will know how good/talented a player is beyond their goalscoring record in Ligue 1, which really doesn't tell the whole story. Anthony Modeste has outscored him in Ligue 1 this season, remember him? Aliadiere has scored just 1 fewer. Goalscoring records tell you little in reality, especially when you're assessing a player's ability to transfer from a European league to a completely different one. Actual ability level is the ultimate factor and that has so many more faccets to it than a statistic - first touch, skill, pace, power, awareness, creativity, adaptibility, teamplay etc. Like I've said, I'm happy with the signing because of the price and the fact he's not Shola Ameobi - but he's a budget gamble on a form player rather than a pricey gamble on a more talented player out of form. -

Sissoko would help us win a lot of aerial challenges/second balls. The way Pardew plays seems to result in our midfielders having to challenge for these more than they should, it was very noticeable at Norwich how many times Anita/Cabaye/Marveaux were beaten and we lost possession through it.

By all accounts Remy is the much more talented player though - time will tell whether this guy whose on form and much cheaper (wages + fee) is the better option. -
San Lorenzo are one of the larger Argie clubs. River/Boca are no less skint, it's a league-wide problem.
-
Nowt. And if a few weeks/months down the line he changes his mind and signs for San Lorenzo? As far as I'm aware he wouldn't be allowed to. We hold his registration until the end of the contract.

Nowt.

Fucking Asia

Unsurprisingly the commercial revenue remains low. Tacky brand these days.
-
Fact is - Ashley is taking us all for a fucking ride.
-
Not really that similar once you get past the title tbf. Newcastle matched their bid then they asked for more unlike San Lorenzo who seem to have offered a 50p and a curly wurly. Aye that situation would have probably involved us funding the buy-out of the clause with a signing-on fee etc. SL don't have the cash. Still - it shows he has previous.

Somebody on my timeline just bumped this http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11843_3881912,00.html Precedent.

Someone was showing pictures on his phone the other day claiming they were of the lass, chinese whispers on a grand scale Or there could be truth in it Either way I find it hard to believe if there was a serious illness the club would not have just came out and said that was the case. Sounds like he can either sort out a sensible fee for someone to buy him or lump it as far as i'm concerned. I know it is a cliché but he gets paid 60odd grand a week ffs. I got told he'd got a 14, 17 and 18 year old lass from Crammy up the duff in the space of about 2 hours the other day. It's bollocks. If he's got 3 different teenage birds from Cramlington up the duff then this really is a serious situation. Particularly if he's done it over the course of 2 hours, seems like really reckless behaviour. Yep. Impressively productive - particularly on the previously acknowledged 'bollocks' - but certainly not the behaviour you'd expect of a husband, parent and role model.

Somebody the other day was trying to tell me the lass in Crammy was Jonas' sister
-
We'd struggle to get a million for him tbh.

Oh Coloccini, you were the love of my life Oh Coloccini, we thought it was your wife Oh Coloccini, please stay and play with Mapou
-
Fallout with manager seems the only situation I can think of, but that doesn't excuse it in the slightest. Completely unprofessional.
-
eh, what?! He's packing in football altogether?! Yeah. Until he signs for San Lorenzo.
-
More suspect that we were willing to give MYM a reported 60k a week.
-
So how does he quit by the way? I thought San Lorenzo had given up. What a shitty way of going about things this is, from him, from his Dad, from San Lorenzo. Just a complete twat of a situation, all happening at the worst possible time. You think you can trust and rely on some players and even they end up fucking around.
-
Very, very disappointing.
-
Very surprised Graham isn't going to hang around for a cup final and is willing to play for them. Sounds like all those quotes in the match programme were the same kind of empty words you hear from most football players and their boyhood allegiances.

He's old enough to fight for his country, so he's old enough to be rib kicked by Belgian playmakers.
