We'll fuck him and his agent of off on pure principal alone. This one is done.
-
Really though? He's hardly been pulling up trees has he? Not this season but he's proven it in the past, and because of his current situation he was an available transfer. The only one I can see where the very specific list of variables fall into place (plays in Ligue 1, cheaper than he should be for some reason, willing to join, positionally a good fit to the team). I'm looking around and struggling to see anybody who we could get. Hopefully I'm wrong and we pull something out of the bag.
-
Both of them will probably cost more than Remy anyway. Really looks to me is that we've blown our only top quality, realistic target.
-
Last time I checked Lyon were offloading Lisandro Lopez to somebody. Gomis is their first choice striker and they're going for the title, as unlikely as they come.
-
A new picture of him seems to come out every year or so looking slightly tubbier and slightly more beardy.

10 league games in 5 years!

Interesting one, does he speak the language at all?

Still feels to me like we're letting the deal go on stubbornness/principals. We're in a desperate situation in January of a relegation threatened season which is caused by their stubbornness in the first place, letting another signing and subsequently window go will be disasterous IMO. Look at the quotes from Ben Arfa today, if the ambition is there he is on board otherwise he's off and he'll not be the only player with the same ultimatum. For once we need to just go and get our targets, fill the squad gaps and stop fucking about. Look at that net spend table for fuck's sake, it's a joke. The lack of apparent alternatives out there in the market is worrying too.

Michael Higdon, Billy McKay and Leigh Griffiths outscoring Soopa Hooper this season.
-
One of the worst things about this is the forward momentum lost. All our players thought he was coming, a boost for the team before the big game on Saturday. Potentially a snowball effect with other potential signings now gone. We just can't seem to get going at all this season, it's either one thing or another.

Some names (linked and not linked, CF and wide-forwards) Aubameyang Gouffran Bafetimbi Gomis Erdinc Gameiro Aliadiere Leo Baptistao Iago Aspas Negredo Adam Szalai Wilfried Bony (at ACON) Tim Matavz Danny Graham Tom Ince John Guidetti thoughts
-
Maybe Aubameyang or Gameiro. Hope not Erding. I said a few pages back but I can see that Gouffran from Bordeaux. Out of contract in the summer, far more underwhelming but when you limit yourself to one league there's only so many options you go through before you're scraping the barrel.
-
So who are we going to move onto? This deal was always a goer because he wasn't playing and Marseille are willing to sell. The backup plan is apparently Aubameyang, but their owner said they won't be selling him. I just can't see where we go from here, and I doubt the club do either. Even if there is a next move I bet we're starting from scratch with the bidding/negotiations process.
-
Got an exam tomorrow and I've spent most of the day following this shite instead.
-
The backup will be somebody far more underwhelming like that Gouffran.
-
Think of the people that will put out of work. Quite poignant in this thread.
-
Disastrous this IMO, regardless of the circumstances.
-
It's borrowed money. They'll be fucked in 5 years time without a doubt. Unfortunately, that means nothing in the short-term. Irritating that a club with a half the revenue stream can convincingly outbid us for a player.
-
Lets be honest, he can't play in our Europa campaign and we're only a couple of wins ahead of them with an uninspiring manager at the helm. If they offer him an extra 20 or even 30k a week and a similar relegation clause, it's not such a surprise. Worst case scenario for Remy is if he does well and they still get relegated he hops onto another English club ala Ba.
-
You simply can't trust our negotation on anything like this. They're stubborn enough to simply pull the plug there and then out of spite if QPR offer a bigger deal.
-
Fee also agreed with one unnamed club on top of us and QPR.
-
"Pour Rémy il n'y a pas que Newcastle, nous on est aussi d'accord avec QPR et un autre club c'est à Rémy de décider" From Anigo at OM. Agreements with both clubs, his decision. Can't see anything other than QPR personally considering the kinds of money they have offered players recently.
