I think he tries to approach each game individually, and he is instrinsically negative so generally that involves worrying about and then preparing for what the opposition has to offer. To an extent I think it did work last season, we were able to nullify the opposition's threats in certain games and grind out results - prime example being Stoke away. Generally though this lack of a proactive mentality is not going to get you anywhere long term. The best teams all have a set style of play that they are all drilled to and play regardless of the opposition. Generally the basis of good teams philosophies is that they want the ball and want to always impose themselves on the opposition, fairly basic fundamental stuff. That's the main reason we look out of place on our league position last year IMO - we're the only side in last year's the top 6 that didn't/doesn't do that as plan A.

Simpson, Ryan Taylor, Shola. The list goes on. Summer was the perfective opportunity to capitalise on our strong season and upgrade on all of these players that simply aren't good enough.

I go back to it, but they had Taarabt, Faurlin & Granero in there. Forget the fact they're 19th or whatever, they're 3 bloody good players. They never had a sniff all match apart from one moment where Taarabt skinned all three and played in Cisse. I don't even think it was anything to do with that, he stuck with the team that allegedly (didn't go) played well against City and rightly so. Even then, aside from Marveaux there is no-one else to put in really and even then many on here would advocate putting him on the wing. Anita barely played as a defensive minded player either. I can understand a midfield of Tiote Perch Anita against City, less when it's QPR. Anita isn't as defensive as Perch, even if he played RB at the start of the season, but he surely isn't as attacking minded than Marveaux. Perch was terrible on Saturday IMO. I don't think he's at all good enough for NUFC. Well unfortunately under Ashley he is good enough and that's half our problem.

Very, very tall horse you got there. Maybe, just this once, some people have got more of a clue about a particular subject than you do. MacDonald's a hero to many people, if my Dad is anything to go by. I'd probably snap at someone for calling Shearer a piss-head in twenty years time, for eg. I made a point to not bring his footballing talent into it (since I couldn't possibly comment) and merely called him on the constant stream of lies and negative shite he comes out with on the Legends and in the press. Why would somebody call Shearer a pisshead? As far as I'm aware he's not. He is however a largely abysmal pundit, with the personality of a doormat. Footballing ability/achievement and what players do away from the pitch are very separate things, I don't know why people get offended by such. Btw, he was on the drink because he needed a knee operation but couldn't afford it and it started a downward spiral (something which has happened to quite a few footballers from the 60's and 70's). Not an excuse for his drink driving conviction though. I know, I've read his autobiography before. To be fair to him he is very honest about his faults it there. But the shite he talks in the press and on the show far outweights that. Just comes across as a total gobshite to the point of real irritation.

  7. They didn't win largely because Wayne Rooney put in one of the worst performances you'll ever see from a top class player. The sensationalist comments are largely to take the focus from him and the rest of his players.

Granero couldn't give a flying fuck about playing for QPR; a more pointless, half-arsed performance you will not see in the Premier League all season long. The other two have not done anything to prove that they're great top flight players and as such they are where they are in the league for a reason. Without doubt the worst team I can remember seeing at SJP since we were promoted.
  10. Anybody else going? About the only excitement I've got left for this shitstain of a season, even when Pardew inevitably pulls a Pulis/O'Neill and sacks the competition off.

    Papiss Cissé

A decent coach and somebody who has some authority would have had us playing a flexible, functioning front 3 all season with Cisse through the middle and Ba left. There is no reason they can't both score and create goals in that system if given the right platform and freedom. As much as I went fucking mental when Shola scored yesterday there is something seriously depressing that we instantly looked better with the 31 year old, perma-injured, never-been-good-enough physical lump on the pitch to hoof the ball to rather than with the excellent striker we spent £10 million on. It's an unbelievable waste of resources.

    Loïc Remy

He hasn't been in the team all season Skirge. He's on the bench.

Ridiculous post. He's entitled to his view and is one of our greatest ever players. He's totally wrong on this occasion though. On this occasion.

What a clown SuperMac is. Literally couldn't give a fuck how many goals he scored for us, my only memory of him is being a drunken half wit so as far as I'm concerned he can fuck right off.
  15. He's never said something so hillarious though 'Typical Germans' wasn't far off. There's been others too, he always does it. Wenger frequently does similar.
  16. Fergie is just doing his age-old routine after a poor result of drawing the attention away from the team.
  17. They gave Bosingwa a 3 year deal too. He can sit on that 65K a week, Alan Smith style.
  18. True, but Fernandes has enough money to roll the dice in January. I think this we ain't got money is a bit of a bluff so his transfer record will look better, keep prices in check, while being active in getting the higher earners off the books. He's playing transfer games before the window is even open. It's all borrowed. They're going to be Portsmouth in 3 years.
  19. Just seen the Madrid goals, what the hell is the whole business with Casillas being dropped?
