  1. Does England produce many "advanced midfielders", though? Outside of bringing Johnson or Cole into the squad, I don't know what other attacking options you are talking about. That's what I mean. I said we don't produce them. We play in straight lines and as such the players we produce fall into that.
  2. Are England the only major nation taking 4 strikers? Everybody else seems to produce/understand the value of advanced midfielders to the point where they don't need to bring a long a load of centre forwards for the sake of it.
  3. That looks good too.
  4. Looks like that account might be less than trustworthy...
  5. Downgrade but about as good a replacement as they could get.
  6. I've heard the Harper out of contract thing a few times, isn't he tied until 2013?
  7. Also on this point, one of my favourite ever neesy moments (it's probably tied with when Guthrie attacked his mate for no reason) was when he was furious with the Tioté signing because it was 'negative' signing another defensive midfielder on top of Smith.
  8. Cabaye M'Vila Ben Arfa Nasri Ribery Benzema DIS.

I was out with some Mackems this weekend and they would not have it that Santon was anything other than complete shit. They asked me to name one good game he'd had, I reeled off several and they insisted I was lying. Absolutely mental. He had far more excellent games than he had shockers, and a number of very solid performances. Man U and Stoke in particular he was brilliant.
  10. Anyway, I really don't think anybody can argue with Tioté. Our dogshite midfield got us relegated, and then there was numerous occasions it was overran in the Championshit. Smith was our starting holding midfielder going into the season, starting against Man U and Villa. If we'd gone the rest of that season playing Smith instead I am absolutely convinced we'd have been relegated, probably rock bottom. One of the most crucial signings we've ever made.
  11. IIRC we had Shearer Ferguson Cort, then Ferguson requested a transfer that summer and we bought Bellamy. Ferguson left summer of 2000 didn't he? Bellamy came 2001.
  12. Who did Bellamy replace? Gallacher/Cort?
  13. Tiote for Smith. Reverse them and we'd have finished bottom of the league.

They just can't see they're setting themselves up for a massive fall with this 'classy' s****
  16. Both him and Rodallega were on the bench because they were out of contract at the end of the season and refusing to renew. Clearly Martinez was already planning long-term.
  17. Mint interview that. Brilliant quotes.
  18. Signing him would make sense as he would be effective in a midfield 3 and also wide in a 442.
  19. Most of the players on the pitch play in neither league.
