  1. We need a keeper who doesn't concede goals, they're the best ones.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

We should drop Coloccini, we did concede after all.
  3. Prophetic words. Worth repeating that the key to his performance was that he didn't sulk at being played out of position like Danny Gutless, but turned in yet another 100% committed performance. Outstanding. Praise Barton, no need to slag off Guthrie. He had just came back from injury FFS. Barton quality, btw y'all.
  4. That would be a fantasy result. I suppose he'll get a lot of stick today. I've nothing against him, but it's the way of things. We, the fans, made Bramble s*** with out constant uneasy groaning everytime the ball went near him and we're lucky we haven't done the same with Colo. What about his howlers with Wigan? The East Stand Corner Booers haunt his soul! Let's hope they do today as well!

  6. Clark's Huddersfiled up to 2nd today.
  7. Was he? I thought Taylor was the one that lost him. Taylor was probably blamed anyway.
  8. I listened to the Talksport thing. I can't be bothered to rip the whole thing apart but I want to point out the Man City fans text. They had better attendances when relegated? Man City 26,710 (96/97) 28,197 (97/98) 32, 088 (99/00) Newcastle 43,384 (09/10)
  9. Carroll seemed in confident mood when he came on, hopefully bodes well for Sunday. He probably drifted outwide a little too much but the cross field ball to him seemed to be the best way to start out attacks. Got a good reception from the crowd as well despite the recent 'troubles'
  10. Glad I'm not the only one. I agree as well. His early missed chance seemed to make him lose confidence. He won fair few headers but was pretty sloppy in possession and seems a bit thick with his movement of the ball.

    Sunderland...

Anything we could hope to have? I'd say even from the little I've seen of HBA that he would eclipse all NE players quite easily even Darren 'scuffed shot' Bent. Darren Bent has a s*** load of goals to back his case, Hatem Ben Arfa just has enthusiastic Geordies. That won't change till he's fit and has had a decent run of games for us. True, but when you talk about anything we 'could hope to have' I can't prove it either way! I just don't want the mackems getting praised on here without comment.

  13. The CCTV footage was good & there were plenty of witnesses who gave statements on the night & at later date. That is the reason Cook could not take his loot because the fuzz made it clear to people in this mix they had enough evidence. As a regular reader of the Chron & Journal I read day in day out s*** sentencing from local courts so this is no surprise & seem harsh tbh. He should not be judged on the job he does or the money he has just that he is prick from Gateshead. How do you know all this?
  14. I'm not normally one to FYP, but it felt right. Jose still, tbh.
  15. Did he play offside though? I just thought he lost his man when he made a run. Haven't seen it again but I'm sure he stepped up.
  16. Thought Williamson did well, Colo as well (although he shouldn't have tried to play whoever offside for their goal). I'm happy with both at the moment.
  17. I'm not Nolan's biggest fans but I've got to disagree with a lot of this. How are we relying on 'guaranteed' goals? To get these 'guaranteed' goals (not entirely sure what these even means) you have to create chances. Playing possession football is just one style and generally not suited to most players in our league. Stoke have stayed up for 3(?) years now without playing possession football. Our aim this season is just to stay up, let's just do that first of all. It's a bit shortsighted to say Nolan only contributes a goal every other of every three games (which is a quality statistic anyway!). He keeps the ball for the most part, despite not being totally creative, only gave the ball anyway two times yesterday (and scored a goal). Playing a conservative style is the way to go, Burnley went down going for the jugular, Hull as well and Blackpool will do the same. If you haven't got the players you can't play that style of football. If we keep getting 11 or so every 9 games with Nolan in the team I'd be pretty happy. Again, our aim is to stay up and therefore out of the relegation zone, we're doing this at the moment, we do have a game plan (especially away from home) even isn't carpet football all the time. As I mentioned above, only two misplaced passes against West Ham, less than Tiote. I've never really watched Coyle's Bolton but Nolan's Bolton got into Europe I can't see Coyle's doing that. One one hand you're talking about ambition and then saying you would settle for more attractive football. I think Nolan is a really good captain and the best we've had in a while. As Stu says he has improved the club by helping to cultivate a team spirit that has improved the current team and has seemingly helped new signings to bed in easily (I remember one interview where the players said they regularly go out for meals and bowling these days which they didn't before). The team spirit seems amazing these days that's the third game this season we've came from behind to get a result. To say Nolan is sending the club backwards in his captaincy is rubbish IMO. Look at the most cosmopolitan squad in the PL, Arsenal. Surely they would be the best example of the "Mediterraneanization" of a squad, doesn't stop Bendtner coming out of clubs with his pants down his ankles. Spurs players always seem to be coming out of clubs drunk and have massive parties, they seem typically 'English' in that respect especially with someone like 'Arry, from the 'old guard' at the helm, didn't stop them making Europe though... If Ben Arfa was fit I wouldn't have Nolan in the team but I think he's probably good enough for a team of our level (i.e. attempting to avoid relegation) and the stuff about being the wrong type of captain is, as I say, rubbish IMO. I was sceptical about players last season saying the team spirit was amazing and thought it would be severely tested this season with us losing more games, doesn't seem to have been broken as easily as expected and Nolan is a massive part of that IMO. If he gets Carroll on the straight and narrow we will have more to thank him for as well. As I say, not the greatest player but I think 10 years down the line we'll be looking back at Nolan (and a few others) and praising him for playing a massive part in helping to turn the club around
  18. Will be all the more embarassing for them when they crash out then.
  19. It's better than booing the players off to be fair, should be praised. Hate our fans booing at HT. I'm just being a prick tbh, was going to slag them off if they booed as well. I hate Liverpool as well.

  21. Yup, saw that yesterday looking at the top scorers chart. If Capello really does pick England squads on form (hah!) then the four forwards will be Carroll, Bent, Nolan and Walcott.
