yes but the 'last 2 seasons' represents a somewhat window dressing approach to Owen's record, doesn't it mate While only mentioning the last 12 games just to suit your own arguments is perfectly acceptable. Exactly.

Over the last two seasons it is. Owen has played 58 (scored 23) Martins has played 52 (scored 17) I'm not having a go at Martins, I just think both (or neither) should be called injury prone.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7998204.stm Weird Lists Main Rio Ferdinand Steven Gerrard Ryan Giggs Cristiano Ronaldo Edwin Van Der Sar Nemanja Vidic Young player Gabriel Agbonlahor Jonny Evans Stephen Ireland Aaron Lennon Rafael Da Silva Ashley Young Rafael? Only played ten games for god's sake. Bassong should be a young player nominee IMO, but its no surprise he's been overlooked.

Total overreaction to oldtype's posts. The fact is most other fans wouldn't have expected us to beat Spurs in a few of the games we've played against them recently. I'd say we've, on average, been on the level with Spurs, so saying we're were underdogs is hardly the worst post of the century. I don't see why people would go and say **** like go and follow another sport.

The news musn't have filtered through that Shearer's took over. On a serious note, it'll be interesting to see who he manages next, to see if he really is a top manager.

Great idea! Let's give him a jolly big crown and rename the club after him as well. Jesus cried so hard he had to be detained. I had originally thought that, but deemed it too excessive, I'm warming to it again though. Put it this way, Martins will leave in the summer, we'll have a spare number nine shirt. We will probably sign a new striker (or two) in the summer but they don't have to have the number nine shirt, no matter how big a name they are (see Owen), why not give it to a local lad who has previously idolised Newcastle number nines? Or just keep posting hyperbolic ****, your choice.

Yep. The fact someone who's lived in Lyon & Paris and yet decided to settle in Newcastle and set up a business speaks volumes. Who's that? Bernard. Ah, what's his business?

Give him the No. 9 shirt next season, would do wonders for his confidence and belief IMO.

And one less body at the back where you're...strong? I think having anything other than 4 in defence will just screw up your chances, tbh. It's the players themselves IMO that need to prove their worth. Defence is our best area, our best players are probably Beye, Bassong and Enrique. The reason we concede is down to the pressure on the defence, which results from the **** midfield.

It's not like you to slag off Owen.

i'll pre-empt NE5 by saying we might do a leeds anyways! doesn't change the fact that pre-ashley we were headed for trouble though, of course if you want to succeed at anything in life, you have to take risks. And football is pretty much as risky as anything going. We know that wages etc are out of control, but its the same for everybody. it's not the same for everybody...who else had 70% of turnover going on wages ? lets say, for example the club were on course, even with all the cost cutting, to make a loss of £30mill for example for the current financial year. do you think we should borrow more on top of that to "compete" ? may feeling is we wouldn't have got anyone to lend us money even if we wanted to take the risk..........like anyone gambling, you can't gamble indefinitly if you are losing. don't bother competing then, like Ashley. You have what you wanted. Why do you always resort to this? Just because some people want the club to act sensibly they automatically want mediocrity? It's childlike logic.

Just noticed as well, they've got a **** GD, so even if they get the points they'll probably still go down on GD.
-
Harder run-in, aren't going to change manager and have two less points.

They're aren't getting it wrong, they're in the Champions League, we're not. Leeds tried to budget on getting CL football every season and look what happened. ......... and we have tried to balance the books - or make a profit in transfer windows - and look whats happened. don't even think they've attempted to balance the books yet...just tried to stop losing soooo much money. i'll make it easy again for you. just copy and paste what i type below, saves you typing it out. I believe we should just borrow more and more until we achieve success. we are the only club in debt then ? i don't believe i said that. we ceratinly aren't the only club outside the champs league having to change their finances because they can't afford to keep on going the way they were. your dodging it again....you think we should just keep on borrowing regardless until we are succesful don't you ?. (i believe this is a yes/no situation) what you are saying, is you think the club deliberately borrows money to deliberately go bust ? Madras, you have what you wanted mate. The old board were accountable for their mistakes, and paid the price, so you have their replacements. Unfortunately, you can't see that it is like wanting rid of Alan Shearer for missing a couple of penalties and replacing him with Shola Ameobi. More like replacing Sibierski with Smith Still happy with the replacement for the fat b****** ? Was I ever? Turns out two fats don't make a right. aye, qualifying for europe and the champions league more than every club bar 4 was really crap, wasn't it ? It wasn't a sustainable business model!!! I don't see how you can't see this. Don't bother with the 'you want us to be like Bolton!!!!' reply, we've hear it every thread. It seems like the ignore the debt because the administrators haven't be called in and because there's no tangible effect (whilst there would have been had Ashley not came in).

Nope but our debt is worst than most http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/34/soccer-values-09_Soccer-Team-Valuations_DOV.html Only Arsenal in this list have a higher debt as a percentage of club value and considering the fact that we haven't built a whole ******* stadium in the last few years ours is probably worse.
