Bassong only played a handful of times before Fulham and they were all at left back, I can't remember him covering up for Colo. The relevance? You said he only played well because Bassong was mopping up for him! Tell me who this good technical South American footballer you see is because it wasn't the one that showed that dreadful first touch of his leading to the goal that ultimately lost us the game last Saturday. The continuous excuses for this dreadful player has gone on long enough he has consistently cost us goals and ultimately matches all season which if it continues will result in relegation now if Alan with the standards he expects doesn't have him dropped at first chance I'll be very surprised. Colo was a good defender till about November so I its rubbish saying he's been terrible all season. I didnt see that atall. Some games he did alright, mainly because bassong mopped up behind him. I never saw him excel in his own right, i offer anyone to name a few games where he did. Taylors made several key tackles this season, bassong the same, enriques been class..beye always is.....but Colo...Dont see it atall. Hilarious that hes our most expensive. Bassong didn't start playing until after the Fulham game.

Xisco doesn't even look a good player playing against 17-18 year olds in the reserve league, he's weak as water he was struggling to kick the ball 40 yards when trying to hit cross field balls, there's 13 year olds in my nephews team at cramlington juniors stronger than him! He'd be the last player i'd want on a pitch against a team like Stoke, someone like Faye or Shawcross would probably snap him when they hit him! Even if you don't think he's terrible you can't throw a player into a relegation battle so he may regain his confidence!! thats madness. Maybe not play him against Stoke but I don't think crap players get picked for Spain U21s so I don't think he should be written of.

Good footballing teams never have their left backs hit long balls do they.... Good football doesn't mean playing 5 yard passes up the field all game. Watch Barca and you'll see countless crossfield, long balls (especially for Messi) as well as intricate play.
