After we brought Routledge in, his work ethic seemed to improve massively. Which lead to an improvement in his performances. Think his work rate wasn't as bad as some made out to be fair. West Brom away he was chasing his own flick ons, and getting them!

One of the problems from tonight I thought was that even when Cabaye came short, Gosling was about 30 yards further up the pitch. Add to that the fact that we didn't have a right winger and it made it more difficult to stretch them in the hope of creating more space in the middle.

Think its because when we've got our backs against the wall he doesn't get exposed as much, when we push on and leave space for the other team he flounders. Not that great going forward when we have to do that either.

I know everyone on here hates him but I don't think Ameobi deserves to be dropped yet. Put in a shift against Sunderland and this is the first game that we should impose ourselves a lot more and not be on the backfoot so should create a bit more.

He was. He was decent but nothing more. I'm not sure he's viewed in terms of his relative importance to the team, but I'd be worried if you're relying on him to score consistently. A bit more match time, as I've said, and he'll get goals. No doubt in my mind. His goalscoring record last season was pretty handy. I'll always support and hope he becomes good but that's 23 games that he hasn't scored in. I realise that isn't all starts and I know everyone will say 'Shola's record is crap' etc. but Best isn't that answer IMO, still definitely need a striker.
