Eh, isn't the elbow earlier on this season the first time he's acted like anything other than an absolute saint since he arrived at NUFC?
-
Bollocks this like, what's becoming clear is that anything the media jumps on gets picked up and acted upon quickly and harshly by the FA whereas other stuff slips off the radar. Which is completely ridiculous when you consider that most people in the media aren't in the least bit unbiased or without an agenda of their own. What has happened to referees over a number of years has made its way into retrospective punishment - decisions not being made based on the crime at hand but rather for the fear of consequences in the media. The worky ticket managers and ex-players of big clubs fuel that of course, and it ends up with more of these things going their way.

'Newcastle say they paid my wages when I was in jail but they never. I was not paid. 'They were giving me an ultimatum saying if didn't sign this contract on a fifth of the money I was on they would sack me. I was sitting in a jail cell at the time so I had no real power. 'As a principal I told my agent I'm not signing, I will let them sack me. I was quite confident I would get out of there and get back to the player I was. FA rules proved they couldn't then sack me.' Players can generally do what they like when they're on a contract with a club, a long ban is not much of a deterrent in that sense.

Barton wasn't paid when in prison People seem to be saying that lately but it's not how I recall it at the time. Perhaps I'm remembering it wrong and he was insisting on getting paid but was ultimately unsuccessful. Regardless he went to jail and we carried on paying him when he was out. My point is that the journalist is talking shite about the club holding any power.

"The wrath of the club". We paid Joey Barton £60,000 a week while he was in jail and for years afterwards.

The pair of them should be sent on a bonding trip to Naples, the spitting capital of Europe.

Not as bad as I thought he'd go at Abeid tbh. He's still pointed the finger squarely at him and not mentioned that Krul could also have cleared the danger rather than setting Man Utd up for a goal. They were both at fault, not necessarily equally like, but he's chosen to point the finger at one of them and it's not surprising which one.

The perception that a manager playing 442 means they're going all-out-attack compared to if they'd played another formation.

I don't understand why this is important when everyone else in the league (i.e. our rivals) will see the same increases in TV revenue. Yes we might start spending a bit more money but other teams in the league will do the same and then some. I understand what you're saying about TV money becoming a bigger proportion of all revenue but the same goes for all clubs and we've seen before it usually leads to another increase in wages across the board and not much else.
-
Erm, he doesn't have that much money?

Carver and Pardew both seem to take great pride in saying stuff along these lines, like management's a bit of a laugh that comes naturally to them.
-
Oh how we laughed when we finished above Liverpool once later on. I know his career's been fucked since then but he was absolutely correct in what he was saying.

I'm brave Mike, are you brave? I don't even reckon I am brave tbh, but then again I don't gan around telling journalists that I am. This thick little ape has learnt self-publicism from the best of the best.

Unfortunately Federer's away really fucking soon, suspect it'll be this summer but not sure if the top clubs need a new right-back. If not we'll have him another 6-12 months. Yay. -
2nd win in 9 for a midtable side with better players than most of the teams around us when we've only had 2 hard games, well done John. Brave little cunt.
-
Lush goal by Zach Clough versus Brighton. Based on that and the limited footage on YouTube he looks a classy young forward who we should sign and sell for a decent profit, i.e. as good as it gets now.
-
It's fucking depressing how we all knew this guy wasn't good enough when he signed, he went on to quickly prove us right then 3 and a half years later he's still here.
-
He's a baller, Mick.

Watching Shearer and Shola up front was always painful like, should always have been Lua Lua in for Bellamy when it was him who wasn't fit.

Whoever it is they make zero noise and don't appear to enjoy it a great deal. Baffling as you say.
