They will have to talk with Nexus regardless. If we want an increase in capacity, without the need of building over the Metro station, we would need to talk to them to make sure they can satisfy demand, and that they are running their system safely. With big increases in capacity, such as a new stadium, there will also be talks about increasing capacity at the station. This could mean anything from being able to double up both sides of the station with waiting trains after the match, or if we are talking about no budget stadium, even adding additional platforms for awaiting trains. With the capacity figures going round, I’m going to guess that a big part of being granted permission for a 70k-80k seater stadium, there will be provisions that as many people as possible make their way via public transport. This could mean the club pushing the Magpie Mover more, potentially offering it for free, or like I said, major re-configuration of the station. I would also anticipate that more shuttle busses are offered, especially after midweek and late KO games. As it happens, I think we will end up with a permanent fanzone park where the Stack is when we get our new stadium, however as I have said, the increase in capacity we are looking at is going to mean that we have to improve access to/from the station, and improve the Metro connection it provides. Edit: Also, the East stand is made of materials and a method that has a life expectancy of 50 years. The East stand is now 50 years old, and pretty much life expired now. The newest parts of the stadium are now 25 years old, and likely 30 years old by the time a new stadium comes around.

Aye, I read that article. It goes against a lot of what he’s previously said, and he kind of backtracks on the article itself towards the end. To sum it up, he simply says the club haven’t been in touch with Nexus, a structural engineer i got in touch with says building over it is possible. The club have told people working on the stadium project that there is no limit to the budget.

Yeah, Leazes Park/Castle Leazes isn’t going to change anyone’s pre-match plan. The good thing is that it will almost certainly lead to Barrack Road gaining some regeneration. Those flats opposite Leazes Park will come down, or be totally refurbished. I don’t think the Strawberry will see a decrease in math going fans heading to it, although so do agree that it’s a dive that wouldn’t have survived so long if it was opposite the Gallowgate end.

If we had finished our chances, we could have won that game. Much like we could have got something out of the Fulham match, and beaten Brighton.

7 Champions League games on, plus half the Championship, and a couple of League One games, yet you picked to watch Liverpool. You deserve it.

It’s honking. What happened to them playing in Green and White?

Nothing much. Just I was listening to it on the radio, apparently the majority of Man Utd season ticket holders were in favour of a totally new ground. Younger fans who were not season ticket holders were in favour of a redevelopment. It kind of goes against the stereotype of younger fans and non-season ticket holders only wanting a new stadium. We obviously don’t know anything more on the questions. For example season ticket holders could have been pressed more on it, I.E. Your season ticket price will go up if they stay at Old Trafford, or you had to also commit to cup games.
-
Wasn’t that majority actually from season ticket holders?

Fulham & Brentford must surely go down as one of the shittest derbys?

I haven’t read the article, but the subline there is a bit misleading. I don’t think anyone thinks Nottingham Forest will be up there towards the end of the season.

Not really. I think the gap is going to increase again. You have Spurs with their mega stadium. Man Utd wanting to build theirs. Arsenal wanting to increase their capacity. Man City extending their stadium. Us building a new stadium. Villa will do something with theirs at some point. You are going to have a case where you have 8-10 clubs with a stadium capacity of 55k and over. At least half of those in time you would expect to have a capacity of over 70k. Matchday revenue alone is going to make it so other clubs can’t touch those clubs. I honestly think that in the next 5-10 years we are going to see a massive shift in the dynamics again. Even if we look at other clubs like Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Leicester, possibly Birmingham City who are looking at 50k-55k capacities. 10 years ago those capacities were big, now they will be classed as fairly moderate. What it will mean though is that the these clubs will almost guarantee themselves a place in the Premier League in future, and the gap between the Premier League, and the Championship will grow. We’ll end up creating a natural gap that in unlikely to be bridged, and that might ultimately lead to locking the Premier League. There will certainly be calls to do so.

The players they had at the time had big names and were living on past potential. They were massively slipping, and being found out by everyone. They had a spending spree a couple of years ago and changed a lot of their players out. They were so much closer to rotting towards the bottom than becoming title challengers or top 4 contenders again.
-
Why the fuck are we listening to Arsenal fans wanting Arteta out? Fuck me man, 2 years ago they were heading to mid table obscurity, with the very real possibility that they would become one of those clubs with the big names but who went down. They have had 2 title challenges, and should at the very least finish in the top 4 this season.

I hate that interviewer. He asks absolutely fucking nothing, and is sent by Sky as if he’s capable of bringing anything to the table.
-
Exactly. It’s very likely never ever going to be something I could afford/justify. However it’s not for me, and so long as we are also making it so people like me and others can get in, then let’s welcome it. In all honesty, I’d prefer for those types of people to be brought in via the clubs blackout Mercedes V series van straight into the stadium, then standing in the way of me whilst they are making their selfie ‘I’m here at the Nooo Castle stadium, and I’m going to go in and buy my jersey for 120 dollars’.
-
It depends. I think a big barrier is also the sponsorship being restricted. Easing/losing that rule would open it up a lot more for those clubs. Of course it will mean 10-12 of the Premier Leagues clubs get left behind.

I fail to see how they were disrespecting ex-servicemen. People like to make mountains out of molehills around ex-servicemen, and try to speak and be outraged on their behalf, especially around this time of year. A lot of us on here feel the sheer amount of poppy watching etc is out of hand, and has turned into a game of who can ‘lest we forget’ more.
-
What did they do? Refuse to give them a discount off food because they used to do a job that they signed up too, and got paid for?
-
Nah, just out of stock at the moment.
-
They will be by the end of this month. Trainers are becoming a collectors item now. I don’t think many of them will actually be worn.

How come it’s at a weird 3pm KO?

I actually thought that they got the rub of the green off the referee. Their players going over too easy, and the fouls being given. The co-commentator actually pointed it out once. Aa I said in a post after the match, I watched it in a pub in Wooler, and there were Sunderland fans in. The one with the Sunderland top on was saying that Tonali’s yellow card just isn’t a yellow card, then looked at me and said it. My response was that if a Sunderland fan is telling a Newcastle fan, that a Newcastle player who’s received a yellow card, shouldn’t have, then it’s fucking clearly not a yellow card.
