I’m making a point about how the Germans make out as if their league and teams are free from ownership of global companies, and how they are ‘fan owned’. The reality is they aren’t, they are arguably the most capitalistic clubs in the world, and they wouldn’t be anywhere near as big as they are without such companies owning them, and their fanbases wouldn’t be anywhere near as big without those companies subsidising their ticket prices.

What do you suggest? The teams who currently finish 25th to 36th all drop into the Europa League instead of going home?

Not at all. Bayern are owned by a division of one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, the world’s largest sportswear manufacture, and one of Germany’s and the world’s largest banks. Leverkusen are owned by one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Wolfsburg owned by one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. Stuttgart owned by a division of one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, and one of the largest luxury car manufacturers. Sick of the myth that surrounds German football. They have all benefitted by being able to be owned by these companies and having their money trickle down to them to sustain them.

It’s almost as if the other 49% of their major clubs aren’t owned by some of the biggest organisations in the world, their league is dominated by 1 club who end up taking all the players and coaches of any club who dares to compete with them.
