It’s all transparent. You can’t argue with them. I remember the weekend after our takeover I was in London for the NFL. An Arsenal fan was telling me that now that we had been taken over by the Saudi’s, then Sunderland fans have the moral higher ground. I asked him if they got that moral higher ground a week before hand when the leaders of the official supporters group stood outside of the SOL with a ‘Refugees not welcome’ banner? If they got it when their supporters defended a sex offender and started chastising the victim just because he played for them and scored goals? If they got it when they cheered the same player when he celebrated a goal against us by doing the aeroplane celebration not long after 2 of our fans died in a plane crash? If they got it when they were booing players taking the knee for the BLM movement to the extent that they became the 2nd professional club to stop kneeling, beaten only by Millwall fans? If they got it when they defended racist views when they employed a known racist as manager? If they got when they became the 1st city/area to vote to leave the EU due to an argument that was heavily steeped in racism/xenophobia, and largely for those reasons? Sunderland used to be an area that was known to be that town near Newcastle where the people there have a rivalry with Newcastle and nothing else. In 2016 they changed that view to that place that voted for Brexit. The people living there now will try to argue that it’s known as that place where that team from that Netflix show is, but it’s not. It is still known as the Brexit place. As time goes on it’s only going to get worse. The effects or Brexit are only just starting to come home to roost. Things will get worse, and the generation who largely vote for it are dying off, and are being replaced by the generation who has to live with the consequences and know exactly who and where fucked them. The sign the Arsenal fans made for Sunderland fans (PREXIT) was funny at the time, but I think over time it will prove to be very fitting of how other areas of the country will hold Sunderland amongst other places in contempt for their ‘moral choice’.

The guy who drew that on SSC was saying he opted for an option where the strawberry development is set back a bit and even though the Gallowgate stand isn’t as high, it goes back a lot on the front print to either just about in line with the Metro station, or above it. His idea is that the Gallowgate would be a single tiered giant stand in the form of the Yellow Wall of Dortmund.
  3. They never had to put up with him. They only know about the media narrative about us being deluded and only thinking we hated him because we never won anything. They also believe the narrative that we were virtually about to be liquidated without him. The Rangers fans were no doubt happy when he 1st arrived at their club. As we see, it’s only when he’s got his mitts on you that you fully appreciate/understand what he’s like.
  4. The thing is the EFL will only listen its own members. If they can sell all matches at 3pm as a global package for say £400m per year over the estimated £180m per year they get now, then they’ll do it. It also opens up the possibility of the Premier League doing their own deal with streaming providers and almost doubling their income to about £10bn a year, of which the EFL itself gets a share. There has already been talk of the National League broadcasting games and I believe they have done some sort of trial on YouTube or are wanting to. All of a sudden you then have all the way down to steps 5/6 all broadcasting their games. It will happen, it’s just a question of if they are going to have to use loopholes 1st to get there or not.
  5. Aye. Sorry to say it but if I want to watch a Newcastle match then you’re doing that. You are either going to the match, watching on IPTV/pub, or sitting at home watching the scores on SSN. You aren’t going to go and see Hartlepool in League Two, or North Shields in the Northern League instead. If you don’t scrap the rule, sooner or later the Premier League will just change the KO times of every game away from Saturday at 3pm, then you’ll get the EFL doing that themselves.
  6. It’s a voluntary rule, UEFA allow the rule to happen and enforce if broadcasters go against it, but the football leagues and/or FA can ask to reverse it. The proposal is to scrap to rule and make every game open for broadcast, they want to appeal to Apple, Amazon, and Netflix, and to do a universal deal.
  7. The EFL already are in the process of selling their next round of rights without the 3pm blackout. The Premier League will follow when they sell their next round of rights.
  8. A long time ago and I’m sure it was blocked for the very reasons said about the Amazon links. It doesn’t matter in anyway, I can’t see Amazon doing it.
  9. Same players, same manager. Very bearable but they are still a Premier League team and have got this far on merit, so be aware but not afraid of them.
  10. Yeah, same as I said when Apple were linked. It rules them out from ever showing Premier League games, and potentially Cup games ever again. Like Apple, they would receive no benefit from taking over them that they couldn’t do with a commercial tie up.
  11. Amazon if you want to believe todays made up rumour.

    St James' Park

If you built it at say Silverlink/Northumberland Park, then you are locking out the fans in the West End of Newcastle and possibly in the South who don’t have a car, especially kids in cup games etc. The same work if you built it at Kingston Park etc.

So is the Freeman hospital site if it were to relocate, the houses would probably fetch more money as well.

Yeah, the new Freeman hospital is to be built on the site.
  15. Fans and pundits alike always predict England to go out at the Quarter finals. That’s because we are good enough to qualify from a group and usually in 1st place. Because we expect to finish in 1st place we usually get a last 16 round where we are considered favourites and a team we should beat. The Quarter Finals is where we often usually first come up against a team where we are not considered favourites or it is expected to be a very close game. That’s where people expect us to fall away and they are usually right.
  16. Honestly, I think they should be on the bench in the friendly next Saturday, and in contention for a start against Bournemouth.
  17. The thing is though like I said he got there because of the luck of the draw. If previous England managers got those draws we would have got as far or further. If a better manager got those draws then we would probably have went further. If we got those tough teams earlier would we have went out? Well the evidence says we would. Like I said even in the World Cup we got beaten by Belgium, but got through because it was the group dragged, then lost again to them in the 3rd play off place.
  18. Who have we played and beaten in both Tournaments who we shouldn’t expect to beat? Columbia? Possibly the worst Germany ever?
  19. His performance of manager is deceiving. We got to a semi-final and final by the luck of the draw. Both times we lost as soon as we came up against a decent team, in fact in the World Cup we lost to Belgium in the group stages. Anytime we play someone decent we lose, even the Nations League shows this. He should be sacked as he’s not good enough, but aside from Howe, who do we actually have who can manage England?
  20. I just don’t think we are actually that good. Good individual players, but not as a team. In all fairness a lot more goes into a team than players. The manager and coaches perhaps are lacking as well.
  21. Yeah, been poor really. Winner of this match should win the World Cup, and we have bottled it.
  22. Still should have had 5, and one of those was only given because of VAR.
  23. Referee has been bought here, should have had like 5 penalties.
