There is no single Tyne and Wear council. Also it’s worth noting that our councils don’t operate like they do in other countries like the USA. Our councils get a small allocated amount of money to operate day to day things. If they want to improve anything then they have to bid to central government for funding and compete against other councils, often against their neighbouring councils. They also do not have the ability to leverage a local sales tax and or business rates to fund projects such as stadiums. A new stadium would far exceed any potential pot any council would bid for, and I doubt any of them would be suitable towards a new stadium. On top of this you also have the fact that we are currently ran by a Tory government who do have any sort inclination to spend public money, let alone on a football club that is now regarded as having the richest owners in sport. Then again the Reubens are Tory donors.

If we did do a rebuild of SJP it would be interesting to see how it would be done. Another Wembley style bowl would be shit. You really need something like Spurs’ stadium. Ok so we will never be getting say NFL games in Newcastle, but we should be building a stadium that gives UEFA no reason to deny it hosting European finals. I also think corporate boxes maybe a way to go. Selling each sponsor a box or rather selling boxes and then sponsorship inclusive maybe a revenue maker. That Dallas Stadium that was mentioned earlier, it has over 200 private boxes. Indianapolis Colts stadium has over 100.

I remember when this was 1st built. There was documentary on it. They brought in the architect and he was disappointed as he wanted the support beams alongside the escalator to be in perfect line so that when you went down the escalator, you could only see one support beam. The engineers did not get it correct and you could see all the support beams behind each other.

Absolutely shit. Our midfield is missing, they are either hiding behind their marker, or so far wide that there is no space. Saka and Sterling are so ineffective when we don’t have possession. Kane has been dropping deep but doesn’t look up to see who he can pass too and ends up running into trouble.

Why does Sterling never cut inside and take the shot until he’s past the last defender and not when it opens up?
