I’m going to make a guess and say that they may have wanted to put off naming a new manager before the derby/derbies. I know that it hasn’t got the same feel about it as the men’s side, but if a new manager had came in and lost the derby with Sunderland, or even both with Durham as well, they may have already lost the crowd. They may have felt that it is more ideal to get those games out of the way and bring the new manager without that immediate danger.
