Research has shown that if the Premier League went to a direct consumer model and showed every single game, priced it at an average of £10 per month (some countries would be less, some would be more) than the TV revenue alone would go from the current £3bn it generates per year today, to up to £24bn. I think that is on the high side, but say £10bn-£14bn would be enough for every Premier League team to receive £400m per year with plenty of money left over. To put it into context, the NFL alone receives £9bn in domestic TV rights alone, that’s 3 times as much as the Premier League receives in global TV rights revenue. At £400m per club per season, you could easily have match tickets at £20, and season tickets at £150 and not feel the negative consequences.
