Didn't Leeds United 'nearly' sign Ronaldinho?

Apart from this cunt... http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01342/roy-keane_1342720c.jpg

Wow, I wonder why you'd think that. Watch it again and watch Fabregas' head movements as the shirt was 'forcefully' being put on him. It wasn't going on until he started moving about tbh. Then he played the old 'i don't want that shirt on me' card when it was eventually on him. Oh aye, it's plain to see that Cesc looks ultra comfy in that top, his arms freely waving by his side. Not, as it appears, sporting an embarrassed grin, but a smile born of pride and anticipation ahead of his multi-million pound move to Barcelona.

If Andy Carroll tidies up his locks a touch I'd give him the number 9 shirt this season.

Linked with Bob Bradley today too. Both potentially brilliant appointments. I'd love to see Bradley in the Premiership. Fulham are quite American anyway. Agreed. Would love to see how Bob Bradley fared in the Premiership. He really does seem to be sound tactically.

I'm not saying it's nailed on, I was merely backing up ElDiablo's stance in that he's a better bet than Smith/Nolan in a deeper lying midfield role. I'm also not claiming that he will recapture any form of old, or turn into a special player, I'm simply saying that I'd like to see him try and fulfill at least some of the promise he showed.

"Cristea has won nine senior caps but has yet to score an international goal after also failing to find the net in 14 appearances for the Romanian Under 21s. " sounds great, a striker that doesnt score. We can't look too far into goal scoring records. Let's not forget Roque Santa Cruz barely scored for a much more creative Bayern Munich before joining a relatively drab Blackburn side where he scored for fun.

I think Joey Barton showed in his early days at Man City what he was all about. Granted, I don't think we've seen that same Joey Barton while he's been here but hopefully he's learnt from his (many) mistakes and can build a reputation for himself as the player he threatened to be whilst at Man City.

You can't dismiss the comparison with Pavlyuchenko, regardless of what he'd proved at international level. He still struggled in the Premiership when he first arrived. I don't think TT was comparing them as players, more comparing the situation. I'd much rather give Xisco a second chance to prove himself here than just give up on him and/or sell him for peanuts. Let's not forget he was only 22 when he arrived here, in a foreign country, his arrival was marred by the Keegan/Wise fiasco and he struggled a bit with injuries, I'm sure he didn't expect to come over here and have that happen and find himself dossing in the reserves. I for one can forgive the lad for feeling a bit unwanted and perhaps homesick. Regardless of the fact he didn't score a hat full for Santander (a bottom 5 club) that doesn't mean his loan spell hasn't been a success. He's a year older, a tad more experienced, and judging by what Chris has said about his attitude, that could have changed too. It would be easy for him to have not turned up to the camp in Ireland and to training but he has done and it looks like a start on Saturday will be his reward. I'm hoping he grabs it with both hands myself. Would love to see Xisco knuckle down, impress and make something of himself at this club.

That doesn't look too bad at all. I know football isn't played on paper but compared to AT LEAST 4 or 5 other teams in this league, that's a stronger looking midfield line up. Survival here we come

No point ruling him out, good work by Chris. Agreed, I'd be happy to give him a second chance. Deffo, its another body and he might just click, in the meantime he gets games and raises our chances of selling him. Aye, I think if the lad is good enough and his attitude is right, it'll show in pre-season and we might have a player on our hands, if this happens and we decide to keep him then it would be like a new signing, if we could get a decent offer in from him too if he shows good form, we could decide to cash in. If he has a stinker of a pre-season and his attitude is called into question again then at least all parties know where they stand. I'd rather us give him a fair crack of the whip pre-season then just assume he's not got it in him. Good luck to the lad.

My thoughts exactly on the Boruc transfer. I doubt he'd go there to sit on the bench. Frey to Arsenal was my first thought too.
-
Even if that is the case, surely a 20 year old English lad with potential on a free transfer is a sight better than 99.99% of our other transfer options this summer.
-
Aye, you would think so. The reason he's available is because he was no longer under contract at Everton and the reason for that was they hadn't actually offered him one. I'd be surprised if any appeal was successful given the details that have been made clear regarding the 'verbal offer'.
-
When they say mistakenly released it sounds like Everton hit 'Release on Free' instead of 'Offer New Contract' on FM. http://i28.tinypic.com/t4ybfm.jpg Oops. We've all done it, turned off the confirmations and released a player by accident. And in a desperate attempt to re-sign him you're met with "XXXXX has no intention of discussing terms with his former club"

The comparison and subsequent posts were blatantly sarcastic... Mind you, his record at Man United was 10 goals in 63 games. Xisco has 1 in 7 for us, multiply those figures by 10 and it's a similar statistic though
