  1. I would probably still pick Saudis ahead of most others tbh. If they're good enough partners for our govt, Amanda and the Reuben bros, they are good enough for me. Exactly these journalists now preaching we should be wary of their motives can fuck off. I’d happily see them purchase the club without passing the test, and then just fold the club to fuck off the PL. These journalists would be better off investigating which clubs are actively pulling Masters strings to prevent this and also what extent Bein are medalling behind the scenes.
  2. thing is most potential takeover are simple enough, ie are you disqualified as a director committed a crime etc etc and don't involve piracy issues and geopolitical bullshit
  3. he's just sticking with what they've always publicly said ie its none of our business and a matter for the premier league to deal with
  4. well some sort of plan for the new season has to be in place regardless of any takeover
  5. they got a new tv deal (france too iirc) so probably didn't want to risk starting it late
  6. what kind of answers are they giving if they can't even satisfy the premier leagues O&D test (hardly the toughest test in history) on who's going to be making the decisions
  7. possibly true but its a lot cheaper to replace a manager than get half a new team especially in the current economic climate Aye, but if they don't change half the team they won't finish any higher under any manager. don't underestimate peoples ability to rationalize things especially when money is involved

  9. Giggs was the PFA award though the FWA have form giving the award to Scott Parker when west ham finished bottom
  10. apparently they take off field stuff into account as well in which case Rashford should win by a country mile for what he did
  11. Ahead of Van Dijk, Alexander Arnold and Mane? Really?
  12. jesus christ he's played what less than 50 times for them and they're retiring the number, your going to have no numbers left with that low a requirement to retire a number. Unless its a cunning plan to charge fans extra for getting a players name on the back since the players will have numbers like 545 or something
  13. how the hell do you apply that to relegated teams
  14. What’s to stop Saudi coming to an monetary agreement with Israel to Legally use their broadcast stream, thus bypassing the problem with Bein? Nothing, the Saudis could then legally broadcast PL matches in Israel, to Israelis. Not sure how this addresses the matter at hand though? The matter in hand seems to keep harping back to bein being blocked so the Saudis have no way to watch the PL which seems to be the main PL problem, an agreement with Israel bypasses that problem no it doesn't as it would be in breach of beins contract with the premier league as the exclusive rights holders for the MENA region which SA is in. Also it involves Saudi Arabia acknowledging the existence of Isreal which they don't currently do. Theres a much better chance of Qatar and SA kissing and making up than that happening
  15. They'll have to get it legally watertight to accept or reject the deal. I'd imagine they are shitting themselves realising their test wasn't fit for purpose and was really just for show. at the same time how incompetent do you have to be to be on the verge of somehow failing the fit and proper person test there's literally only one way they could fail it and somehow they're making it worse for themselves by banning bein sports making it so that the prospective owners have no legal way to watch their own club on tv in SA There is nothing in the O&D test that states the prospective new owner must be able to watch the PL in their home country. its not exactly a sign of good faith to ban the premier league rights holders in your region while your trying to buy a premier league club, gives the wrong impression It's a better one than allowing it via piracy, especially when they are unable to bid at the moment. banning the only legal way to watch it is not a great way to reduce piracy

  17. well yes £500m the single largest rights deal outside the uk. Of coarse they don't want to annoy one of their biggest tv partners thats really not a good way to do business

  19. while this idea would obviously be utter chaos I can't help but like this idea, majority of the league seems to just exist to keep cashing in the tv money now making no real effort to improve
  20. come on villa (just to relegate watford)
  21. basically this is years of payback for KSA ignoring the beoutq stuff and blocking any attempt to deal with it in a saudi court and nufc are the club caught in limbo in a geopolitical shitshow. This is why countries should not be allowed near fucking football clubs
  22. It's not a company from SA it's SA. The PL themselves described PIF as a company in SA like. whose chairman happens to be the crown prince of saudi arabia (and as far as I understand he's been making more and more decisions for the country the last few years) and its literally the public investment fund of saudi arabia how the hell can it not be considered an arm of the KSA goverment I know and you know it's the state. It doesn't necessarily follow that's the case legally. I'm just baffled by the very idea, they get all their funding from the KSA government, their chairman is in line to be the next king and is already pretty influential at the very least, its sole purpose is to make investments on behalf of the KSA and its somehow not legally considered the state
