  1. Yeah, changed it straight after I typed that, dunno why I put Celta Vigo. I heard about him a while ago and remember watching videos in awe, and he was mentioned in a podcast I listen to the other day. Maradona seemed to rate him very highly. I have to say I was only 5-6 years old when he was in his prime, but he was still a great player to watch during his latter years in La Liga. Extremely unprofessional and unfocused, sadly.
  2. What would happen if Barca were ever to suffer relegation and Barca B were in the Segunda already, VI? Seeing as they're not allowed in the same league. In that case the B team gets relegated. It happened the year Atlético got relegated.
  3. Mágico played for Cádiz, and he's a legend there. He was extremely skilled, but didn't had his head screwed on properly. Wasted his talent.
  4. Fun fact: Barça B was promoted once to Primera. It's forbidden by our rules but Barça spun it off and it became an independent club so they could be eligible. They got relegated the next season.
  5. They are penniless, plus have had 3 managers in the past months, of which the latter two (Arconada and Mandiá) I don't rate at all. They still have pretty decent players for this level, but they won't contend for promotion in my opinion. Who do you think will be promoted? Obviously Barca B cannot but they are doing very well it seems. I'd like to see Las Palmas come up, went to see a third division game when I was there. Well, Segunda has a lot of randomness to it, not too indifferent to the Championship in where there are favorites but some really odd sides manage to sneak into the top if they put together some form. Betis are strong favorites, Valladolid have also kept a strong squad and play pretty aggressively although they are bit streaky so far, but I expect them to make a good run for it. Other than that there's a number of decent sides like Las Palmas, Cartagena, Salamanca, Rayo, even Celta or Xerez, that can get there. The fact that we have changed our promotion system to the same you use in the Championship puts even more sides into play this season.

  8. Celta have been in a bad shape since they got relegated, but they are currently topping the division. I'm not confident they will be able to keep it up, since they have been closer to relegation than promotion these past years, but we'll see (would love to see them back up myself). Betis are doing fine, not spectacular. They should be at least certs for a playoff spot, particularly if they can put their ownership shenanigans past them.
  9. I guess they are trying to get a Breach of Fiduciary Duty case.
  10. Honestly, even if you don't mind ManCity buying their way to success, I find rather criminal to have unlimited funds and end up playing 3 DMs every game.
  11. I find them to be a fun bunch, and they are quite watchable nowadays under Coyle. A relief for them after the Allardyce/Megson years.
  12. I'm a bit lost on the whole stakes of this case. If H&G had won the case, wouldn't RBS just called in the debt and lost the club for naught? Or am I wrong and they could have held onto it?
  13. High scoring game compared to the previous one, one can notice Benítez is off. Good news for Liverpool I suppose, are they going to get points docked?
  14. Second half of Scotland-Spain was a crazy game of football.
  15. Nobody relinquishes power out of sheer kindness. The only way the other clubs can pressurize the big 2 is locking TV cameras out of their home games against them, which exposes them to breach of contract lawsuits.
  16. Interest, could really help open the league up, just a tiny little bit and stop clubs going into administration (seems to be at least 1 a season). Yeah, I posted this Madrid/Barça's counterproposal a few pages ago. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,70560.msg2552864.html#msg2552864 We'll see what comes out of this.
  17. I hope the rumors are true and we are after Llorente.
  18. Still slightly surreal to see Kevin Davies grabbing his first cap at 33.
  19. We all said the same about Adam Johnson mind, but he's getting games. Johnson was more of a finished product when he signed, imho. Had prem experience already and had started regularly at pro level for the past years. Assulin needs much more development. I'll take your word for it, I know nothing about Assulin. He has lots of raw talent, but most of the time he seems to still play like a 15 year old. He's been awful these past 2 years when he transitioned from youth football.
  20. Villa ties with Raúl as Spain's all-time top goalscorer with that pen.

  22. From my odd watching of Spurs last season, when he cared he showed he still has the goods. The manager that can get him to care regularly will have a bargain, in my opinion.
  23. Didn't they used to be owned by two families who used to argue over the direction of the club etc. Valencia? They have had big boardroom instability these past years. I'm not that familiar with them to know all the intrincacies but they have had a few abortive sales and the two top shareholders hate each other.
