Helps him get his appearance bonus I suppose.

Good, solid signing the Eddie Howe FC fans will tell you. Seriously though, surely there's not a chance it happens

What we've done historically is totally irrelevant in 2026. We had a reset in 2021. We've spent over £700m on new players since then. This isn't the Newcastle United of the 1980s that I grew up with in a crumbling wreck of a ground where you got soaked unless you could afford to pay for a seat, having to sell any asset who was worth a few quid. We're up with the big spenders now. We should be better than a 14th placed club bit we are there and we deserve to be there. People need to move away from that little old Newcastle mindset and think bigger.

Nothing fickle about calling out shit result and performance after shit result and performance pal. You're just one of those who won't see anything bad against Howe regardless of how bad it gets because he won the League Cup. That's fair enough but all I'll say is that I hope the decision makers at the club are more ruthless than you, othwrwise ultimately we just go backwards. He'll have been here 5 years in October. Most PL managers last around 18 months-2 years. Maybe there's an actual reason for that because as things stand we just look so stale and out of ideas.
-
Shows how much we're regressing then. Thanks for pointing that out.

PIFs fault mate.
-
He's done an unbelievable job but when fans are paying £800-£1000 for a season ticket his style of football wouldn't go down too well I'd imagine. In saying that it wouldn't be much worse than what we've watched this season.
-
Again you miss the point, as you have pretty much all day tbh. To simplify things for you. If they aren't backing him with cash to improve HIS team, or they are buying up players that he doesn't want or interfering with the team (see Forests owner) they would have to take a big share of the blame for this awful season. However they have backed him with huge sums of money, given him a lot of power in the transfer market and don't get involved in on pitch affairs so I wouldn't be too harsh on them in this aspect. However trying to shift blame onto them and off Howe for the awful signings he made in the summer, for the poor tactics this season, the 20 defeats, the terrible in game management, the constant 2nd half collapses, all the late goals conceded etc is just directing your discontent at the wrong place.
-
Useless bastards. They need to stop giving the players sleeping tablets at HT and generally improve their in game management massively.
-
And they got a tenth of the credit that Howe got when we won the League Cup (unless I missed the huge PIF flag hanging from another city centre hotel). You see how this works?
-
He's been backed with ridiculous money over these past 4 years. I'm sure they would have given him even more if the rules would have allowed as well. He's been allowed to build an entire new team, which is what we've been watching this season. I don't think much of it if truth be told and I'll happily say as much.
-
He's been backed with over £700m in transfer funds tbf to them. They've also hoyed another £300m+ into the club as well. Obviously there's been issues with staff recruitment and retention above Howe but not sure how they can be held responsible for continuous poor in game management and the fact that his half time team talks seem to kill off any 1st half momentum we might have (25 points now dropped from winning positions).
-
You said he's better than all 4 of them yet there isn't 1 metric out there that you can use to back that up. For what it's worth I actually agree with you. Out of those 4, Iraola is the one I'd like to see us get. He's going to end up at a big club sooner or later. Wouldn't mind it being us.
-
Aye but you said that up until this point Howe has proven to be a better than all 4 of them and have failed to back up that statement with facts as 3 of them have won more honours as a manager and the other is above him in the league. I'd like you to tell me the metric that you're using to put him at the top of that list.
-
3 of the 4 managers have won more managerial honours than Howe and the other is above him in the league. Fair enough if you want to class the Club World Cup and the Conference League as not being major trophies, but plenty people also say the League Cup isn't one. This narrative that we could never attract a better manager than Eddie Howe is just plain odd, and untrue.
-
Nothing that a trip to Turkey or even a few teeth whitening strips wouldn't sort.
-
In what way exactly? Iraola is above him, Maresca, Xavi and Pochetino have won more trophies.
-
Well Iraola has spent far less and is above him so it depends on what you're classing as "better" here.
-
Aye let's never get rid of a manager ever because 20 years ago we dropped a bollock by appointing Souness
-
14th in the table after a £700m+ spend? Throwing away 25 points from winning positions. Losing 20 games (and counting) this season. You tell me when we've been here before please. I'll judge on what I'm watching, and what I've been watching most of the season has been utter rubbish. I'll give him the plaudits when he's doing a good job and I'll call him out when he isn't. That's perfectly fair.
-
Brentford lost a load last summer as well. Players come and go all the time. It's how you react and evolve that matters.
-
It's hardly a one off poor performance. You're only kidding yourself at this stage if you genuinely believe that. That's why it was our 20th defeat of the season. Take your head out the sand.
-
Defenders and strikers do that to each other in the area all the time and it's hardly ever penalised. Very harsh. If anything blame the club. They should have requested years ago that a family of dog shaggers with a clear dislike of us, aren't to referee our games.
-
That doesn't mean we cant talk about what's happening right now though. And currently we are sat 14th and on how we've performed after 33 games that's about right.
-
Clubs lose their best players all the time. A lot of managers aren't afforded £130m to replace him with though which was absolutely squandered on utter shite. Get your head out the sand and see what's happening in front of your eyes. 3 weeks rest. Palace played Thursday. There's another excuse for this seasons shitshow up in smoke. 25 points dropped from winning positions now. Absolutely shameful.
