West Brom vs Newcastle United - 25/03/12 at 4pm (on SkySports)

To be fair the likes of Blackburn have no problem allowing away fans to pay on the day. NUFC need to remember that it was a minority of idiots down at Darlington that spoilt it for the vast majority who follow NUFC around the country without hardly any problems. Personally I think banning general sale for away games was all just a ploy to increase the club membership which they've promoted quite heavily for the past couple of years. -
Apparently he hasn't failed. He just couldn't pee in the bottle!

Just had a text from a friend in Eindhoven saying it's rumoured that he's just failed a doping test.

Do you know which ones mate? We were planning to get into town by about 9am but from what I can gather most pubs aren't opening until 10am. I know the likes of The Black garter will probably be open about 7 as usual but it's not really my cup of tea! i know about its reputation but what specifically is so bad about it? never been inside I had the misfortune to meet someone in there after the Arsenal game at the start of the season. Couldn't argue with the prices at £1.79 a pint but the place was stinking and when this old fella who was sat just along from us sh!t himself that was the que to get up and find another pub.

The person next to me booed, I didn't. However as much as I didn't agree with him booing he's paid for his seat the same as I have so is entitled to his opinion. I didn't let it bother me.

I went up to get an extra ticket for my brother today because he's just found out he can get back up here for the match. I sit in the Gallowgate so I tried to get him in there but was told it's sold out, same for the East Stand and Milburn Paddocks. Managed to get him a seat in the NE Corner in the end and the bloke in the ticket office said there were only 350 tickets remaining and that nearly all of them were up in Level 7 in areas that Wolves were entitled to but didn't take up. Means there'll be over 50,000 home fans inside the stadium.

If he's fit i'd play him at right back on Saturday. I'd play Guttierez in front of him because they work well together and play Ben Arfa on the left, Tiote & Cabaye in the middle obviously.
-
Steve Brewce is the 8/13 red hot favourite to get it. Curbishley's at 3/1 and then after him it's Lee Clark at 9's.

This is the team I would like to see but with Raylor in place of Simpson.

Totally agree with you. Fair play to him.

Newcastle United vs Aston Villa - 05/02/12 @ 1:30pm (Sky) - Pre-match thread
Wallsendmag replied to JH's topic in Football
eh ?? To simplify it for you we beat Villa at home last season. Out of the 23 games we've played so far we didn't win any of those corresponding fixtures last season. For example last season we drew our game at Blackburn so this is the first time this season that we're up against a team we beat in the same fixture in 10/11. -

Amazingly this will be the first match we've played this season where we won the corresponding fixture last season. -

Pardew rages at Ray Stubbs: http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2012/02/01/pardew-unhappy-at-ray-stubbs-over-yohan-cabaye-incident-61634-30239579/ Ironically when I phoned Sky to cancel my ESPN subscription once I found out that Cabaye had been charged I gave Ray Stubbs as my reason for cancelling when the wifey on the other end of the phone asked me. Whether he deserved to be charged or not is a matter of opinion. Maybe he did but then when you look at other recent incidents which were far worse than what Cabaye did (Lescott, Crouch & Van Persie) maybe he can count himself a little unlucky. What you cannot have is a television presenter, someone who has never played the game before, demanding that the FA look into it, "The FA have got to look into that, surely" was the phrase he used on more than one occassion. He's there to present the programme and ask the opinions of the 2 professionals alongside him, not to ask the FA to look into specific incidents. -

I thought he did well enough against Blackburn in the cup once he settled into the game. Wouldn't have any worries if he was thrown in on Wednesday. -

I honestly wouldn't know. Better things to do with my time then spending it trawling mackem messageboards. -

ESPN were absolutely desperate to get him banned with the amount of times they replayed it and then Ray Stubbs saying the FA had to look into it. I've just phoned up Sky to get it taken out and i'll walk down to the local to watch the Spurs match instead. Aye ESPN are a joke like, there's no way they would have emphasized it that much if it had of been the other way round. If that match hadn't have been televised, ESPN hadn't shown it about a dozen times, and then Ray Stubbs hadn't have stuck his orr in where he more or less demanded the FA take a look at it the incident wouldn't have even been looked at. -

I would put them both in. They've played less than they would have had they been here and the thought of seeing Shola or Best up front on Wednesday isn't one I want to contemplate.
-
I'd rather go with a not 100% fit Ba and Cisse than go with Best and Strolla again.
-
Think it's a nailed on defeat today. Too many key players missing, plus they are very strong at home, plus it's a ground we hardly ever seem to do well at. Think we'll be overrun in midfield.

Try to get to a Bundesliga game at least once a season. Been to see Eintracht Frankfurt v Hertha Berlin which was one of the best atmospheres i've ever witnessed in nearly 30 years of watching football and last season I went to see Bayer Leverkusen v Mainz (decent atmosphere but not anything special) and the day after that Schalke v Nurnberg which we had standing tickets for, which cost the princely sum of €13. 61,500 at that match, great atmosphere but I was suprised at how much they pack the people in behind the goal. I literally couldn't move my hands from by my sides and you had no chance of getting a piss or a pint at half time. Going to watch FC Koln v Stuttgart in April.
