Heading down to the Powder Monkey in a few minutes to watch it. Not too hopeful to be honest. Would be happy with a point but i'm not expecting much.

Definately Man Utd and Arsenal and probably Man City as well I would have thought although come the end of the season I wouldn't be suprised if we've taken over Man City because we haven't played any of the top teams at home yest whereas they've already had Liverpool and Chelsea at home.

My knickers arent in a twist mate, i still go to games and wouldnt let such a minor, petty excuse get in my way. I fully grasp the point by the way as insignifigant as it is but hey you can continue to cry over it all you want while i enjoy my matchdays. Good for you. Would you like a medal? I still enjoy my matchdays as well thankyou very much only nowadays mine consists of sitting in the club with my mates and a few pints watching it on whichever Foreign channel is showing it (unless it's on either Sky or ESPN). The thing is now that they've put the restrictions on the noisiest part of the ground I probably get a better atmosphere in the club.

Don't know if people are aware of this or if it's been posted further up the thread but season ticket holders are also allowed to buy 2 extra tickets during the members sales period in any section of the stadium so I am able to make my 1st appearance in Leazes Corner this season (£37 up there).

tbh- im sure they are even bigger than the avarage for the 90s..... Its only the 2000s in my lifetime that has seen the avarage of 50k over a decade- think SBR takes a lot of that credit. The most the stadium held in the 1990's was 36,500.

That's true and it makes a bit of a mockery of the heading at the top of this thread. "disappointing attendances". We're averaging over 45,000 with 2 of our 3 home games being televised on a Sunday dinner time and only 1 of the 3 away clubs has brought a decent support up.

Jesus Christ its a free(nay better than free) card that takes no effort to get. Get over your self man, all this nostalgic bullshit over nowt! Making out you are better than those currently attending because you are too daft to accept it would benefit you? In reality it's clear that it's actually you who needs to get over yourself. I'm not saying i'm better or worse than anyone else and if people want to buy up this membership that's up to them although evidently not many people have bothered. I don't want to become a 12th man member and that's my decision. Just get over it. It's no big deal. I'm happy to watch the games on the foreign channels instead. Calling other fans 'spineless' and suggest they arent 'proper fans' says you do think you are better. I dont need to get over myself mate i am not the one inventing issues where there are none. Where have I suggested anyone isn't a proper fan? All i said was that our support of years ago (of which i'm presuming you weren't part of because of your age) wouldn't have put up with all this rubbish of only being allowed in certain parts of the ground unless you buy up a membership in advance or having the name of our stadium changed to Sports Direct.com@St James' Park or whatever he's decided to call it at the minute. Open your eyes and take a look for gods sake. People don't want to be forced into buying a membership just so they can go into a certain part of the ground, that's why that part of the stadium is empty this season, and for you to say it's cheaper to do that is a total load of tosh. For example I have 4 friends from Arbroath who like to come down to watch Newcastle 2 or 3 times a season and for the past couple of seasons they were able to join me in Leazes Corner to watch the match and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere up there. I think that is a ridiculous statement like - how much you support your football club isn't about far into your pockets you dig. I see Otters point. I agree, I went from 'hardore' supporter to a fan. I still love nufc, but I no longer go without to attend football matches. Snap!

Imagine in the 1960's and early 70's the board saying fans could only stand in the Leazes End if they bought up a membership in advance or them introducing the scheme for the Gallowgate Corner and Scoreboard sections in the 1980's/early 90's. There would have been uproar and rightly so and it wouldn't have been allowed to happen. Sadly nowadays we have too many spineless people following the club who just go along with whatever they are told and is one of the reasons SJP is missing that spark that it had yesteryear and sadly I think that's gone for good now. I'm not just referring to NUFC here but football fans in general these days. I'm just glad i'm old enough to have witnessed the better times when I could stand shoulder to shoulder with proper people who certainly wouldn't be pushed around.

money / work / not being that arsed any more..... That's the real problem, the membership thing is just a convenient excuse. If anyone actually wanted to go to a game they would, as simple as that. So you honestly think LC would have been empty this season if it hadn't been members only? Don't talk daft. People don't want to become members and hardly anyone has. Look at the stadium plan for sunderland. thousands of tickets will go on general sale despite it being 2 per membership because there are so few members.

I think most people realise what this 12th man rubbish is all about but people are not interested in all that. They just want to buy their ticket and watch the match in the section they like best like they've always been able to do. Even if the club had came out and said their reasons for doing this it would be a start but they couldn't even be bothered to do that. A decision that will probably end up costing them in excess of £750,000 over the course of the season.

£47 tickets are for the East Stand and Milburn Paddocks. Leazes and Gallowgate are £42. A disgrace really for a 90 minute football match live on TV.

Then it costs you £10, not really the end of the world if L7 is more important than simply going to a couple of games if you ask me. Or am sure if you have any mates there will be a use for it over the course of a season........ We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one because it could go for ever although judging by how empty Leazes Corner is this season a lot more people agree with me.

Anyway the proof is in the pudding and Leazes Corner has gone from being sold out for just about every Championship game last season to being about a third full in the Premier League. Is that true? I paid for mine about a week before the Blackpool game, and got it before that match. I know of 2 lads who ordered them before the Blackpool match and have been told they'll recieve their packs in early November and will get paper tickets for the sunderland match on October 31st.

You would lose the loyalty points. I was on 107 points when I gave my season ticket up back in 2008 and I know that in 2005 I was in the top 500 season ticket holders for loyalty points after I had a bit of a carry on with the ticket office when they wrongly refused me a ticket for Heerenveen away (fair play as they sorted it in the end) but for the last couple of years I found that the fear of losing my points was bigger than the fear of not getting to every match and that was why I was renewing when in reality I had far more important financial commitments that should have taken priority. In 2008 I finally decided not to renew my season ticket after 17 years and went to a pay as you go type supporter which I was quite enjoying until the club decided to make leazes Corner 12th man membership only. Seriously you would think that in this day and age with crowds around the country on the decline they would be making it easier for people to gain access to matches, not more difficult. Sign of modern day football I suppose though which is sad.

Exactly its the stupidest excuse i have ever heard for not going to a game. If the L7 is so important then its a bargain to get one, these wankers running our club give them the cheapest tickets then give them a further discount and get complaints still. My 3 year ticket in the Gallowgate runs out this year and i honestly have no idea if i can afford another when the huge price hike kicks in, i may have to give it up. I hope this L7 bargain continues into the next year as i have no problem saving money if it means i can watch us live every week. Why should I, and many more like me who have taken the stance of not attending buy a membership just so we can go in a certain part of the ground? I've been attending matches at St James' since the early 1980's and have spent a large proportion of that time as a season ticket holder until 2008 and in all that time I have never known the club come to such a ridiculous decision as to only allow certain people into certain parts of the ground. Have they ever given a reason for it? Well me, and a couple of thousand others apparently have stuck 2 fingers up at them and won't go back and I have to be honest and say so far I haven't missed it as i've seen every match on TV (and the atmosphere has certainly sounded poorer for having a Leazes Corner about one third full) and also have a bit more cash in my pocket. As a side issue I believe people who signed up for these membership packs at the start of the season still haven't recieved them yet which just about sums things up. The worrying thing for the club is that people who have stopped going will get out of the habit and even if they relax the rules might struggle to get the fans back.

Exactly, my ST is in the East Stand and i wouldn't change it for anywhere else, its pretty much dead centre of the pitch & the ticket has been past down from my grandad who's had it since the early 80's. I dont want to be sitting at the top of L7 watching subutteo like players where the majority of kids & chavs probably sit. like I said self acclaimed elite. I actually find L7 claim to be holier than thou. Yes they make some good songs & make some noise but some of the stuff they sing is so cringeworth e.g the here we go song then f*** off at the end.. very cringeworthy. Also some people who sit in L7 feel that they are better because they sing/chat etc and will slate other stands which imo is pathetic You will find tossers in every stand. You will also find more decent people in every stand.

Great view in the East Stand and i'm sure there are some very decent people in there who have been supporting NUFC for Decades but it's personally not for me. I liked Leazes Corner. They don't sell tickets for there anymore on General sale so i've stopped going. For the record I should add I had a season ticket from 1991 until 2008.

I will never ever go into the East Stand, can't stand the fuckers in that stand. Spot on. Don't like the idea of either sitting in silence or singing on my own whilst people give you strange looks as is the case in other parts of the ground. Might as well save the admission fee and watch it in the pub with some of my mates who have taken the same stance as me. As soon as they reverse the ridiculous decision to only allow members or season ticket holders into Leazes Corner will be the day myself and approximately 2,000 others return. Until then i'll stick to watching on the foreign tv channels.
