Surely promotion will compound their financial problems and their base costs go up but income won't rise at the same rate, especially if they're struggling and their crowds are smaller than they are now as was the case last time they were in that league (more people will pay to watch a winning team in League One than a team losing most weeks in the Championship). You look at established Championship clubs like Birmingham and Derby County, obviously Bolton went tits up when they were in that league, Reading, Hull, the list goes on so if they're hanging their hats on promotion sorting them out they could be in for a shock.

Historically much smaller than us, whether that's trophies won, attendances or both clubs standing on the European stage. At the moment and in the future, both short and long term they are absolutely tiny compared to us and as their future fanbase in the region is further eroded away as the next generation are pulled in by what's going to happen here it's only getting worse. It's really grim times for them. The grimmest times in their entire history in fact, and whatever happens to them this season, it's only getting worse.

Aye it's people whos 10 year deals have ended. Was always going to happen. 10 years is a good run for a price freeze. You can't expect it to stay like that forever. Looks like the idea may be that everyone just pays the same, so in the Gallowgate for example, that's £659.

Brilliant that they've frozen the prices especially considering how good the team is likely to be. Now all I've got to do is try to get one (well 2)!

This. Sunderland are more just something to have a laugh at these days. Other than Geographically they'll likely never be proper rivals to us again, think Liverpool with Tranmere or Man Utd/City with Wigan or Rochdale. They go up and they'll spend next season fighting for their lives in the Champo, as they call it. Everton going down would be hilarious.

Takeover was completed coming up for 7 months ago now. Takeover day was the day they finally knew beyond any doubt that this 1% pipedream was never going to happen. They've just been sat on this huge pile of cash all this time and barely anyone has raised an eyebrow. Staggering really.

Howe has commented on numerous occasions about how good the vocal support is and how much it's helped the team at home. I'm not sure how someone sitting there in silence taking up a seat is really contributing to that but each to their own. Like you say people go for different reasons amd at least they are there. When I go I like to give the players as much vocal encouragement as possible and I think they appreciate that.

That's my worry. As much as I want my ST back if it's not the Gallowgate I'm not sure if I'd want one. Wouldn't mind the East Stand as long as it's in the closest block to the Gallowgate but the thought of Level 7, the Leazes of Milburn Stand doesn't appeal anywhere as near as much.

Middle tier of the Gallowgate is a problem. We were in the Upper Tier last night and it's very noticeable from there. You have the corner which comes across excellent then you have the lower and upper tiers getting up off their seats singing but the majority of the middle (which probably has 95% season ticket occupancy) just sit there and don't get involved. Another bugbear of mine is the "United" chant. Why shout "Toon" in between? It was always 3 claps in between which sounds much better, see below.... https://youtu.be/u_1usHbNj8g

MOTM for me last night. Thought he was outstanding, even by his high standards. Special mention to Krafth on the other side who had an excellent game as well.

Once again I will happily admit that if the roles were reversed, we were a dead 3rd division club and they were the richest club in World football, I'd be broken as well!

Taking last nights result totally in their stride this morning Anyone wanting a good laugh with their mornibg cuppa before work would be well advised to pay RTG a visit. It's tremendous viewing this morning!

Apparently they've sold 20k season tickets for next season but over 7k of them are Under 16s tickets which cost 40 quid.

The stand opposite the camera and to the left are rarely more than half full and the upper tier is closed apart from a few hundred away fans. They seem to be adding around 10k to the actual number.

They are massively exaggerating their crowds. They only have an operating capacity of 36k for home supporters with the upstairs being closed down and it rarely appears much more than half full yet they still claim 30k+ every week. I suppose it's all they've got really so I can understand why they do it like.

Definitely don't sound like mackems.

They’ve certainly been massively exaggerating their attendances this season. They've only got the lower sections of their stadium open these days which puts their capacity at around 35/36k plus whatever the away team bring which is rarely more than a few hundred, and it still looks little more than half full opposite the camera and behind the goal to the left.

I don't even think he managed a single goal under Benitez tbh. He just looks out of his depth as a footballer at this level. Looked good in the MLS and playing against weaker opposition for his country but I dont't see any future for him here. At 27 he's probably not got mich improvement in him either. We won't get our money back for him when we do sell him either.

Always loved it. Can't think of a better one in the Premier League. Also believe it's now the longest standing club crest in the league.

Our current club crest is perfect. One part of the club that definitely doesn't need changed.
