Hate our own players being booed. Makes me squirm. Harewood's been a huge disappointment, and I'd end his loan early Wouldn't have booed him though. All of this, although it's not like we're in a position to be shedding squad depth BUT Marlon is/or has so far proven to be lacking in ability. It's a horrible, horrible situation

From what I've seen he's been first choice. You misunderstand, maybe I should've put it as 'from what i've seen of his ability he should be a last resort and should always have been'

Disagree. Even when he has the ball at his feet he can't trap it or control it and even given the long ball tactics, given his size and build, he doesn't even compete in the air. He has very little in terms of any sort of ability imo. I'm sure he'll net the odd one if the others are picked/play well but he's last ditch if you ask me. Ranger has these qualities in abundance and can't get a start ahead of him. Shocking. He offers nothing that Carroll, Lovenkrands or Ameobi does. Believe it are not I like to be able to see positives in a player but Harewood's proving to be like a magic eye picture right now.

I like how you place Harper next to the corner flag, risque tactic some might say, but we need to take chances! It's some Hughton creativity. Be the last thing they expect

The booing was frustration from certain people in the crowd, I didn't boo him but a lot of people thought he deserved it and I can understand that. I'm not sure what good booing will do as it'll just knock any confidence that Harewood has and we'll still need to use him while he's here. He's a squad player and should've been from the start...from what i've seen he's a last resort

The booing when he went off was quite loud and came from all areas of the ground. Doesn't deserve to be booed like but he's aptly atrocious

Well lads, at work so can't really comment of performances but very dissappointed with the choice of centre mids. and the constant inclusion of Harewood and Carroll rain or shine, when I saw the starting XI I had to groan. No-one in their right mind should be coming out with 'we're too good for this shit league' crap after this. Who's on the bench?

Harewood's managed a goal with only 2 starts. A statistic that doesn't change my belief that he's no better than what we already had. There are lies, damned lies and statistics

In this league I would agree. Only proven to be average at best during his Premiership career (Barring the end of last season playing at full-back). It's fairly obviously as well btw that Harewood isn't very good in the air yet we seem to persist on lumping long balls up to him. Aye. inclined to agree. It doesn't help. Not out for a character assasination of the lad but I just happen to think Harewood's as mediocre a footballer as Andy Carroll and yet starts ahead of the likes of Nile Ranger.

Difference is Taylor is clearly class, Harewood has done sweet FA in evey game he's had in a Newcastle shirt and has nothing to offer other than not being Andy Carroll

Not saying he has or is, but I don't believe Harewood has anyhting to offer anymore. Know your gonna hate this but he seems like he could'nt trap a bag of cement and competes in the air like one too. Limited as he is even Carroll can just about manage the basics. I think Ranger would create more than either anyway and should be first name on the team sheet atm, whoever plays should have a better chance of scoring if he was imo.

Wouldn't grumble too much at that. Seems a definite improvement. What would you base picking Taylor on the wing for? Crossing ability?

We either play long ball because our midfield can't create or because our Chris 'Barack' Houghton knows no better. Probably not mutually exclusive. I'd like to see what Ranger would be able to do with either Lovenkrands or Carroll again purely because Harewood is about as much use as a fart in a spacesuit

From what i've seen of Lua Lua he seem far and away our paciest, attacking minded player. I thought he was one of the better of the kids alongside Ranger in the Peterborough game and at a time when we are distinctly lacking these qualities should be given regular starts, its the the only way these players will develop and conrtibute to us getting promoted. Lua Lua in particular can get past a man and created an opening that should've have resulted in a stonewall penalty in that game. I don't subscribe to this 'they'll have their time' mentality. He deserves a shot

Marlon Harewood? and I know the squad is thinner than the broth at a S***derland soup kitchen but I wouldn't let Geremi anywhere near it

Well...its getting to the stage we're struggling against just as many sides as we've beaten and think we've rode our luck a bit given the threadbare squad. I'll agree we have players who are far and away superior to the general quality of this league but to say we have a team good enough and with enough to be truly sucessful in this league is optimisic...Hope i'm wrong pal. i really do. I do also realise they can play so much better than last night

Upping your game and plenty of huff and puff only get you so far. I think its pretty clear that Nolan has been a shadow of the player he once was at Bolton. Nolan aside, the quality in midfield i still abysmal. Butt? Past it. Smith? Has played well in spells but only really good for kicking people. Geremi. Terrible. Barton? Least said about him the better. Its endemic of the squad. Quality and depth has lacked and thats part of the reason why we are where we are now
