I fail to to see what’s so hilarious like. He’d never done it before - before you even factor the following window. Funny how the thought of him not getting money in future set him off. I know your views on the spurs boycott and they don’t make sense. -

The boycott had him do that by the way. People shouldn’t forget that - threat of abstinence. -

Definitely an element of that. He surrounds himself with compliant sycophants. He’s out to make a point the fucking sociopath.

As far as I can tell it's contentious anyway. I know a few that have said the Ashley era is the worst they've experienced and there have been some that have posted about it on here too. To be fair they're similar in some ways and different in others. We were in the 2nd tier 78-82 and 90-92 and nearly in the 3rd tier at the back end of the 91/92 season BUT between then and Ashley taking over we've seen how good things could be and that clouds things a bit. In a perverse way league/league position clouds things now. I speak from a place of almost complete ignorance of those periods though. -

I wasn’t alive for one of those periods. But it’s been worse is a low bar standards wise and it’s myopic thinking imo. If back then was worse than renaming hundred year old stadia to flog tat for the benefit of an ethical vacuum, throwing people under the bus who have cancer and being an industrial lie machine who deliberately withhold funds from the team and a coach who is a paragon of sporting achievement and professionalism, then I’m glad I wasn’t around. My niece and nephew weren’t either though, or my children. What am I to tell them to grow up being proud of? Grandad had it worse? Not naive enough to think football has to be the invictus games but it’s hard to be proud of much when we’re so willing to let our own history and stature be dragged through the mud so passively. -

There’s no logic to it. Just well meaning people grappling with the manipulative practices of a complete bastard. He wins the moment your wage hits his account. The compliance as defiance complex makes no sense. -

I think it’s a fair point to say attack his business interests because he cares about that more, though it’s a weird mental leap to make a separation between Newcastle and the rest of his portfolio, solely because it happens to be a hobby of yours. Debate the semantics of the word ‘support’ re: Ashley day and night but pounds volunteered to his arse pocket that never see the team is a weird one to be able to take too much offence to. -

And then it becomes, 'who are you to tell me?' which is a fair question but fundamental truth is Ashley doesn't care who either of you are - just if he has one or both of your funds. -

People do talk as if people who abstain don't enjoy aspects of/want to be going. I like sitting in the stands with my dad and my brother having a laugh and a pint and a curry afterwards but I don't need to pay towards the active decline of club to do some of those things or like them enough not to see my pounds in his his arse pocket is a simple vindication. I'm hesitant to call people pejorative tags but it does make us look like we lack principles. 'It's my team...' doesn't make sense anymore. -

I respect anyone who has gone week in week out for 5/10/30/60 years - thick and thin etc. Ashley doesn't he is only interested in the time your next going to put best part of a grand into one of his setups whether that is NUFC, SD or whatever he is gobbling up. The stories, heritage, achievements of the past count for dick whilst this tyrant strangles us. So yes its sad we have to question ourselves like this and talk wrecking our own commendable track records but when it comes down to brass tacks it defies any objective logic to keep doing it after endless false dawns and deliberately broken promises. He's laughing at NUFC fans but especially the ones talking war whilst giving him money and I mean that with the greatest of goodwill for those with their hearts in the right place. Tough love is needed at NUFC. -
We’ll ultimately just be pushed from the premier league on this sort of basis

Didn't take that much to get it to blow over did it. Bishop - Don't worry Mike, it'll all blow over. Fans - Nah, no chance. Mike - hey guys, there's a takeover. Fans - ace, we'll leave you to get on with it then, thanks Mike. He’s not being left alone. Trust me. -

It's easy said when fan groups are trying be decent against those lacking decency. I mean it should reflect most poorly on the liar, not the lied to ultimately. Granted, I don't agree with every bit of it that has gone on. Best change of tack is to drive stuff that is out of stadium or Newcastle altogether but you're local match goer wont back it in the way attempted...flawed as it is. If/when Rafa goes people need to have a good hard think who they next scrutinise hardest. -
Love mitro man

I think that one's explained by a level of naivety from him. When he was persuaded to make a statement in support of Ashley he simply hadn't realised the backlash he was going to get. He was the supporters hero, they waved a giant flag with his face on, and then Bishop whispers in his ear ala Wormtongue how he could ease a lot of pressure if he just persuaded some of the fans Ashley wasn't all bad. Going from hero to villain was likely a bit of a shock and still mentally effecting him now. Viable theory? Certainly something in that.

I mean if another Ashley or worse comes along then that’s me done with nufc and football tbh. No hyperbole. Just not worth the time.
