  1. Winnable match whoever gets through. Logistically/Socially I'd rather it was Brighton, closer for me to get too and will be a good night out with plenty of Mags no doubt enjoying the seaside. Although you have to think Wrexham is eminently more winnable, but it's a nasty place to go to, everything would be set up for an upset. Would it be easier to go to the nice modern stadium against a team with players we've heard/know more about, and a club we'd take more seriously as a threat. There are a fair few loony's that follow Wrexham around too, they'd certainly look to cause some trouble in their own manor win, lose or draw. I've been to Wrexham at least 6 or 7 times and never had the slightest bit of trouble, unlike going to South Wales. Have you been recently? They've had a really bad reputation since dropping in to Non-League.

  3. I forsee a N-O night out in some lovely gay-bars if Brighton get through. Electric Six - "Gay Bar" (Hi Res) Cajun is up for it, I know this without asking.
  4. Am I reading that right, did you say you played at Chasetown when they went on that cup run? If so, you obviously want to play reds vs Blues, and are clearly on the blue team. Yes but havnt played in over a year so not sure how the legs will hold up! I'm sure you'll be fine. You are now a member of the blue team. Congratulations.

Went with Santon, supporting my Italian brethren.
  7. A nice easy game, away, in the south so I can go without it costing a fortune.

    N-O Reds v Blues.

Can we also stipulate that only people signed up for the forum, or who have turned out for NOFC, can play. We don't want those sneaky Reds bringing in half a semi-pro saturday team again. And when I mean signed up, I don't mean a couple of days before. A month at least.

As always I am up for this. Got to redress the balance after the shocker we had last time, but then we were without the majority of our first choice squad. Vittoria per gli Azzurri!!

    Loan deals

I don't agree with Premier League clubs loaning players, in or out. It allows the big clubs to stock pile players, which goes against the idea of the 25 man squad rule. If you don't want them then you should be made to sell them or play them in the reserves, regardless of the loss you make. Imagine how much more competitive the league, and the lower leagues would be if the decent players were actually allowed to play for clubs that needed them.
  11. I remember seeing him on some old (obviously) film in a desert and he got out of a jeep and gave our soldiers the V's, I knew what he meant but it was still funny. Can't pull that one in here Mick, Madras told me you were there in person.
  12. Missed from a yard though like We've already got Besty to do that, and he does it well.
  13. £10k cash, or part-exchange with alan smith (alan smith + £20k cash) the guardian rumour mill (i think? or the bbc one?) said yesterday we were going to jump in on portsmouth's deal for dan thompson, funnily enough. any cop? Not seen him myself. Hardly played for the first team but is very highly thought of. Only 17 though, so whoever he goes to will be one for the future. My brother is heavily involved at the club though so if I hear anything i will post on here. Will probably sign for Pompey though, deal is very nearly done.
  14. Anyway, back to reality, it's not uncommon for non-league players to have trials at premier league clubs. There is actually some decent players knocking about. My local club, Hampton and Richmond Borough (Blue Square Bet South) have players going for trials all the time. A lad called Ben Wright was all set to sign for Fulham when Hodgson was there but they pulled it after the medical as he's had a bad knee injury, fee agreed was in the region of £45k. Ended up going to Peterborough for £30k, but when Ferguson got the boot they let him go back to non-league. We also sold Darren Powell to Brentford when he was 23 I think, and he went on to play at Palace and Southampton. DJ Campbell is another good example, as are Les Ferdinand, Jason Roberts, Stan Collymore, Ian Wright, Stuart Pearce - and our very own Alan Pardew. http://blog.sport.co.uk/Football/592/Top_Ten_Non_League_to_Premier_League.aspx I've been watching Hampton since 1987 and I can tell you there are players I have seen who should have played professional. I've actually seen this guy play in the flesh. I'm not saying he's the next big thing and he'll score bags of goals but he's got a good eye for goal and that is something you can use at any level. If he has the rest of the attributes to make it in the big leagues I don't know but I guess if he hasn't we won't see him on the pitch. Of course, he might not sign yet, but I hope he does. Bognor are a decent little club and I've actually had a run in with Eastleigh fans. A group of them kicked off at our ground a couple of years ago, so it's be good to get one over on them.
  15. 10am Zafira Express is all set to leave Brentford for Newcastle. I really fancy us to get a good result tonight. Maybe 3-1, I suppose it depends on how Pards sets us up. See you on the ice.
  16. Don't pay any attention to Disco, a contrary fucker he is and he can barely see over the chap in front of him so how he can rate footballers is beyond me.
  17. Some of the nonsense spouted in here does my nut in. Ok, so we didn't win but the only thing I can think of that I would have changed was bringing Arfa for Obertan at some point. Jonas and Best getting some undeserved stick as well, both had decent games IMO, and we look a lot better with Best back up top with Ba. We absolutely dominated the game, they had settled for a point after 30 seconds and did their best to slow the game down and unsettle us for the rest of the match. The ref let a lot go early on which he could have dealt with and maybe they might have ended up with a man sent off. On another day with more luck we win that game 4-0. We played well and created chances, that's a good starting point as far as I'm concerned. We press the ball quickly, challenge for most of the loose balls, get it wide and try and get it in the box. The front two move well and hold it up nicely, not letting the back four get any rest. These are all positives in my eyes. Cabaye's set pieces were abysmal today, which didn't help, but with no Guthrie or Raylor on the pitch we had nobody else to take them. Obviously I agree Ben Arfa should have come on but for some reason Pards isn't seeing it with him at the minute. We don't know why, could be a little niggle, could be his legendary temperament causing problems, could just be that Pards doesn't rate him (the least likely I believe). We can speculate but none of us know what goes on at the training ground or in the dressing room. I don't get the Sammy thing either, but there's no use getting worked up over it, not likely to solve anything. In short, Chill Pills all round, it could be far far worse than it is.

    St James' Park

Saw it in writing for the first time the other day on Facebook. The official feed had all the highlights from the weekends game at the sports direct arena. I just didn't read right, y'know. I obviously didn't click the link in protest.
  19. I couldn't get it working earlier as it only works for products sold by play.com, the XXL comes from kitbag.com. Had to settle for XXL so I guess I best not put any more weight on. Still, £23.32 is a bargain.
  20. When you bought it where did it say it was taking the discount off? Every time I go through it I get to the part to confirm, the code is recognised but the price is still the same.
  21. Play.com have a deal on today with 1/3 off sportswear. NUFC home and away shirts are on there. Discount code is on the home page.
  22. Isn't it a possibility the penalty could be more severe having been in administration little over a year ago? Pretty sure I read that somewhere.
  23. I don't mind Crooks actually. Granted he can spout a bit of guff but he's always erudite and composed, something you see very little of in the modern day ex-footballer pundit. His work against racism can also not be underestimated. He also has presented the awards at my son's football club presentation evening, along with Ray Stubbs, and took the time to speak to all the boys and anyone else who wanted to talk to him.
