It was hardly a disasterous performance. We competed well for the most part, Barton had an off day, AC had little to work with and we missed Nolan and Enrique. I have still not seen anything this season, barring Mike going terminator on our squad in January, that makes me think we won't stay up. I don't think there was too much between the sides in terms of basic performance. For long periods we matched them in most areas and I was fairly happy. Where the difference was eventually found was the superior pace, creatrivity and composure in front of goal they had. Despite decent possession and pressure we didn't really create anything clear cut and it was inevitable that they would score. Poor defending from Perch for the first. Stood off Lennon and let him run at him which is asking for trouble and he got duly punished. Nothing Krul could do, a tidy finish a lot like Walcott's last night. The second was what had become classic Spurs. Lightning quick counter attack finished off by a player in great form. I think we stood off Bale though and let him get into the box meaning we can't really touch him. He should have been smashed when he picked it up closer to the touchline. We clearly missed Jose, let's hope he's not out for too long, and the link play of Nolan. Barton's delivery was awful today which was a big difference as he's been good all season. Spurs were all over AC and went down an awful lot without much contact - obviously a result of exposure to European football. In all honesty I wasn't expecting anything other than a defeat, once I saw the team I was convinced we'd get pounded, so that we managed to at least compete for most of the match was a bonus. The limitations of our squad were shown up though and it has proved once more how much we need to improve the squad in January as opposed to sell our best players. On to the DW we go before West Ham come to SJP, we should really be looking for maximum points otherwise the xmas/new year period will have been very disappointing.

I try not to agree with Ronaldo too much, it's not good for your health, but I have said on here before I don't generally agree with suicide. I just don't get how being dead can solve anything? I know people who have relatives who killed themselves and the devastation it leaves behind for friends and family is horrific. I'm sure proper depression is very serious and debilitating but seriously, how is ending your life better than trying to work through it. And there is always something you can do, wether you can see it or not. Also there is no indication, to my knowledge, that this guy had any underlying mental health issues other than his depression from what his bird and Paul Terry did. My ex-wife cheated on me with a close friend and it hurt like fuck, but you move on. Take the view that you are better off without them and find someone better. This doesn't mean I don't find this whole situation tragic to the extreme and that I have no sympathy for him, Of course I do, I just have an opinion on suicide and I can't see that changing any time soon.

Wouldn't mind Donovan. He has been known to play wide as well so gives options elsewhere. The young guy from Southampton is also a decent shout, Lallana is it? I always got the impression he could play at a higher level and, as a young squad player, we could do worse. I guess that depends on if Pardew tried it on with his girlfriend/mum though.

He looks like he has improved a lot on last season. He was a bit headless chicken at times but seems to have got a bit more direction in his game. Seems to give defenders a real problem and combined with the threat of Carroll it means the opposition back four can't rest for a second. I agree it's still to early for him to be a regular starter but I think it's about time we stopped starting Shola. He's been awful the last few games. Maybe #leonbestismint needs to get a chance up along AC9 with Ranger coming on for the last 30.

He will only go to Spain and therefore will only go to Barca or Real. Nothing else makes any sense. Unless he really is homesick in which case he will go back to South America. But I can't see that. Somehow though I think he is only trying to 'do a Rooney' and threatening to leave in order to get more money.

Alan Brazil said on his show this morning that he knew weeks ago about Pardew getting the job. He saw/overheard/spoke to Pardew and NUFC officials in a Soho Restaurant. He even backed it at 20's and 16's with the bookies. They were just waiting for the right moment to bin Chris off. As far as I know Brazil has no agenda on this, and has infact been an Ashley apologist for much of his time at the club so I see no reason to disbelieve this. I will agree though that their is a perception, mainly generated by the media, that we are a very difficult group of fans to please with a superiority complex. But it wouldn't be the first time the press made a rumour up that snowballed into undisputed fact.

He'll see out this season no matter what, even if we get relegated. Then he'll make an appaling start to next season regardless of what division we are in and get the elbow by Mid-September.
