Agreed. As much as i'd like to see Terry in the gutter; booting him straight out of the squad is the easy way out imo. He's still a gifted footballer and easily one of our very best on his day. I don't think getting rid of him now would be particularly beneficial to the squad; we don't want the alleged fear factor being enhanced any more than it already is. I said this in a nother thread but I'll repeat. I'd purge the squad of the dross after this world cup and fill it with the talented and hungry youngsters we have in this country. They may not be ready just yet and we may not qualify for the Euro's but it would be better for us in the long run to blood the youngsters now than carry on with the same tired old shite we have seen over the last two weeks.

I would go for moulded studs on the 3G. It's soft enough not to cause you any discomfort from them and I find trainers a little too slippy even on a dry day. On a wet one you'd be screwed. So are we going for the 17th then??

Bring it forward from 2014 to 2012. We've got a pretty straightforward qualifying group for Euro 2012. I'd like to see Capello (or whoever) lose a large amount of the dross from the squad and actually start to blood some of the youngsters. I would back us to at least make the play-offs no matter what so why not take the opportunity to build for the future. Of the current World Cup squad I'd only want to see a few in the first squad for the 2012 qualifiers, if we are going to have any sort of future we need to start looking further forward than just the next set of matches. Current squad to keep for qualifiers. Hart, G.Johnson, Terry, A.Cole, J.Cole, Lennon, Gerrard, Milner, Rooney.I might let Lampard stay on but he'd have to understand he wouldn't be a first choice player. To fill in the gaps I'd choose from the best of the young players playing in the Premier League. Building it round the likes of Rodwell, Wilshere, Cahill, A.Johnson and dare I say it, Walcott, among others. Give them 2 qualifying campaigns together to gel as a squad and they should be good enough to perform at WC2014, or at least better than we have seen over the last week.

But Eng,Scotland, NI & Wales do not pick players who gain citizenship's by residency. On that point, I had a thought. As there is no such thing as English/Scottish/N.Irish/Welsh citizenship could a foreigner gaining British nationalisation through residency rules opt to play for any of the home nations??

Forza Italia. I think people are too quick to write them off, they still have some decent quality. My Italian half is positive about tonight. But then I'm always positive, even though I'm stuck with England and Italy to support. Well at least the weather is nice.

Carragher should be ok if he's actually given the chance to play and train alongside Terry consistently. King should be kept away from the pitch unless we lose all other possible defenders. Carragher got in trouble with Altidores run because he was already booked, if he hadn't been you can be sure he'd have put a stronger challenge in.

My thoughts exactly. We were frustrating but we were clearly miles better than the septics and nobody could have argued if we'd won it by 3 goals. Our finishing needs to improve and we always look like conceeding at some point. But we're not far off being a good team, we'll be fine until the quarters. Anything can happen at that stage.

I didn't think it was that bad. Some of the reactions you get on here after games is laughable. Yes we didn't look like the best team in the world, but then we're not are we. The difference between us winning the game and a draw was goalkeepers. Green made a monumental fuck up and Howard was probably the yanks best player. Heskey did what he is supposed to do and had a good game. You might not agree with him starting, I know I don't, but Capello picks the team and I don't think Heskey was the reason we didn't win. He laid off some good balls and won a load of headers. Yes he was offside a few times but he wasn't bad. Rooney was quiet for most of the game but he's too good not to come good. And obviously playing Milner and King were bad calls from Capello but I wouldn't expect them to start again. Hopefully Barry will be fit and we'll play Gerrard behind Rooney for the rest of the tournament. It wasn't the result we hoped for but I'm not suicidal yet.
