6-7 is generous in the extreme That's and understatement, especially when we consider what we paid for HBA and Tiote. TBH, I would be furious if we spent more than £2 mill on this player. In fairness - there is always going to be a premium on strikers. It is unlikely that we will ever be able to get a deal for a striker like the ones we have got for Ben Arfa or Tiote.

You have some points. If you place an attacker aka Bellamy beside him, and he got to Barton and another winger on the left to constantly provide him with crossers, he could bag some goals. But the fact is that he got a s*** scoring ratio. And I think he, despite WH's economical situation, is on a very good contract. In other words, the lad may have potential, but he's not worth £10 mill and a £40 000 a week contract. I will take him, but only on a free transfer or minimal sum (WH may be forced to sell him cheaply if they go down), and if he settles for a wage that is represents his performances on the pitch. He scores one goal in approximately every fifth game. That is not good enough to justify a sweet contract. Sign him on maximum £15 a week, and renegotiate if he delivers I think £15 a week might be a bit unfair. At least cover his travel expenses as well.

I think he is brilliant. Given time at Madrid, I still think he'll win the league.

5 assists!!! What a player!!!
-
One less assist than Gerrard, Giggs, Milner and N'Zogbia now!!

Good cross. One for the stat fans.

I'll never understand why we don't actually produce more players to be honest. We have such a large catchment area with little competition, we should be able to churn out a large amount of good players. We are possibly one of the few areas in England (I would have thought) that have the same advantages.

Shearer didn't knock defenders around in his prime? Did you ever see him in his prime? Sounds like you didn't. Why would I need an excuse to engage? Not quite sure what you are angling at.
-
I was thinking of that. I thought it was Hercules, but you might be right.
-
Did you get them to do some bench pressing for you? You do speak some shite.

I was referring to people overlooking Jonas' contributions to goals.
-
I love the way that the only way a player can have an influence on a goal being scored is by having the last touch. Because that could never be at all misleading in assessing a player's worth...

Agreed.

A scapegoat is definitely needed. I nominate Jonas.

They don't tell you everything you need to know in any way, shape or form.

If £10m went on strikers i would be more than happy, nevermind £30m Really? I'd be a bit disappointed tbh. It's imperative we upgrade the striking department if we're ever going to get back into a European challenge. There's no way the (majority of the) rest of the side aren't capable. I saw the football we played at times yesterday - it was sumptuous at various points, and not for the first time. We're three quality upgrades from being a seriously good outfit. CB, ST, ST, with the return of Hatem and there's every chance of a serious shot at sixth position next year. I just hope the mysterious second-season-syndrome doesn't settle in. I hope the guys in charge seriously do their research or it'll happen to us aswell. Instead of just a CB, I think we could honestly do with a Hughes-like player as cover for the back four. Not someone who'd have to be outstanding in every position but just a better option than playing others out of position. Worried to s*** over what would happen if Enrique is out for any period of time. A defensive utility player would be good - but I think we need a top quality centre back to play alongside Colo.

I imagine you are right - most of those kind of things are. Just thought it might be something a bit different regardless of the price!

Has anyone been on one of those NUFC experience days where you go to the ground, met some ex players, then have a training session etc etc? If so, was it any good? http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Events/ExperienceDays Thinking of getting it for my brother's 21st and was hoping someone could give me an idea as to whether it was half decent?

The prospect of a decent pay off if he failed probably helped..

I reckon I almost qualify as an ITK. Was at a Liverpool talk in yesterday with Dalglish and Hansen - Dalglish said that the deal for Carroll was agreed on Sunday night. Apparently we then upped the price on Monday after we saw all the press on it and on Torres. So Liverpool upped their price for Torres from Chelsea.

Mainly because one is simple and effective, and the other tries to be too clever and ends up on his arse. Jonas would be a much better player, and would be appreciated by alot more fans if he wasn't so damn frustrating. He just doesn't make the right decision half the time. But then half the time he does make the right choice. Thats 50 percent or 1 in 2 times and I like those odds. Once you've got past the stage of making the right choice however you've actually got to carry it through, which a completely new stumbling point altogether Well i can't recall a better left winger since Robert. Btw this might make all the we-hate-Jonas-club happy. http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/newcastle-boss-pardew-admits-he-needs-left-winger-signing-1390151 N'Zogbia? Even Duff scores goals. Duff? You for real??

Is there anything sadder than football fans revelling in football hooliganism? You so often (not on this board mind) see people eulogising about their fans' hard lads or the scraps they used to get into. Pathetic stuff.
