SanToon gets it. At least one person understands context, that's good enough. No ffs, no one has once called him exceptional
-
I preferred his no shots on target. Always a good stat to maintain when you're playing lone forward. At least his passing and link up play was good...Oh wait...he had the worst pass completion rate of all 20 outfield players and even Mignolet had a better one than him. Big lad though so fair play to him on that. He's done well there. What stats are you looking at? Because they're wrong.

I think it's also patriotism, of a higher level than exists here. I personally could not give a fuck if England do well, I hate most of the team, and have no affiliation to them. Difference is I was born in newcastle and the only team I care about is NUFC. If one of my mates played for Sunderland I'd want him to fail. That's just how it is. It's completely different for dem forrins, who don't have that innate connection to the club IMO. I don't think it's a bad thing, just different I tried to say the same thing multiple times after Altidore was signed by Sunderland. We come from a different nation and continent, it's not surprising we approach football differently. I hate Sunderland, truly hate them, but I love the US national team more. Wanting one player to succeed for our sake does not mean we want the club to do well. As in Claudio Reyna? Who played 28 league games in 3 years? His European career was successful, not just in England, where he played well.
-
No one's saying we would celebrate if he scored against us ffs, none of us would. That's the worst case scenario. Besides, Rooney is an established, successful player, Altidore isn't, we want him to succeed because it's important for our national team.

Mixed feelings from the Americkems no doubt after that game. It was godawful, the entirety of the American media was celebrating and I felt sick. Did not get one ounce of joy out of it.

Dempsey and Reyna, the two Americans who were unquestionably successful in the league. Like I said, this is something I've found across the internet, not just here. Keep thinking the same. Would be brutal.

There's no doubt Americans are pretty defensive about our own players, more than most. Probably because we're a developing team with some decent players and a few good ones, but there's no doubt from my time on various forums since following football that there is a bias against American players due to our past shitness. The opinions on here about Altidore are coming from people who have barely seen him play and just completely off base.
-
We rated him. This entire dumb thing is reactions to reactions. All we want the kid to do is play well. It's unfortunate he plays where he plays, but we're not going to dislike one of our own because his shirt is weird.
-
He was 18 at the time in one of the worst teams the Premier League has seen. I don't think any of the Americans here go overboard when defending him, we've all seen him play very well and none of us are claiming he's anything more than decent/good striker. He did however, make a terrible choice in joining Sunderland. They don't suit him at all.
-
Hush now, it doesn't fit the narrative. Would you rather Altidore than Cisse? Genuine question. Right now, you bet. With both players in peak form, probably not. Altidore would provide us so much more right now, much better at holding it up and in general play. Really though, I expect Cisse will outscore him anyway, but that's mostly down to the team around him.

Something about his recently born kid
-
Been crying out for a striker who can't score like. He's basically Emile Heskey after a particularly strong bout of norovirus. Game over. He receives utterly zero service. He scores for the national team because have better attackers/play a better style than Sunderland.
-
If Henderson wasn't playing wing back he'd be decent. The 4-3-3 sewpa passing system should work for him if he's in the middle.
-
Sterling is literally the only sub Rodgers makes
-
Rodgers totally out-thinking himself. The fuck is Henderson doing playing wing back?
-
Only way through for Sunderland is long shots
-
Untuck your shirt, cunt
-
Careful now, marra. It's different man, I'm not saying I'd love for him to come all over us with 10 goals like you and Mike.. That's a hell of a reach from "Hope he does well. It's a World Cup year."
-
Larsson, man He fucking shoots no matter what.
-
Careful now, marra. Nah, worst player in the league
-
Nothing worse in the world than Cattermole's tucked in shirt
-
The Man Utd team that won the Champions League only featured Ronaldo and Tevez besides what they have now. Wes Brown started in the final ffs, you don't need six World Class players, hardly a team in the world that has that.
-
Tbf, they're both equally bad tacklers
