Barton did play well last night but there were quite a few times especially in the first half when Jose made overlapping runs down the left and JB ignored him and played the simple pass inside. Might just be the fact that he isn't a left sided player though rather than him disliking Jose in any particular way.

I reckon Stephen Appiah would be worth a punt, he'd definitely add a bit of bite to the midfield. He's at bologna at the moment who aren't doing too well in Serie A. I think he's on a short contract so may be available on the cheap.

IMO, I think the squad needs freshening up with 2/3 players to come straight in to the starting line up, someone with a bit of pace in the centre of midfield that can link defence and attack, I know its dreaming but Miguel Veloso from Sporting would be an incredible signing, probably too expensive for MA. Other than that I think that the squad needs to be kept together to some extent, the success that Stoke have enjoyed over the last couple of seasons is down to their strength as a unit rather than good individuals. we need to be hard to beat both home and away.
