  1. That's the basis of what I was getting at in the other thread about finishing 8th. Even ignoring the Carroll money, we've already got the foundation of a very good side IMO, and this summer was supposed to prove that Ashley is willing to build on it and push us on. Long way to go but from the manager's comments it certainly doesn't seem like this will happen. I wouldn't panic just yet. I'm not. No panic here, it's just the way it is and fuck all we can do about it. Frustrated is the word for me. We have a decent foundation, few key players and a bit of money spent and we could be doing some damage.
  2. You don't get change if you don't spend. £35 mil banked £0 spent = £0 change £35 mil kept - Ashleys thoughts more than likely
  3. There is no way Ashley is gonna sanction spending 35 mil on new players, unless they are free, have contract release clauses or are a cheap injury gamble we wont be getting them. I know they will say the 35 milloin includes wages etc, but come on, its a joke, spend some of the cash and get Zog and Sturridge sorted now. It's not going to happen and we will all be mugged off yet again by the club. I know its early days but you just sense how its going to turn out - us fans disappointed. Hope I am totally wrong and get the shock of my life.
  4. Good post. This. All these people getting on their high horses over his wages really need to have a word with themselves. I don't blame Smith for one moment, every single one of us (apart from the liars) would admit to doing the same thing. It's the board to blame. Or more specifically the person who suggested we sign him. Smith's doing nothing wrong here. I'd applaud him if he left for less money, but to suggest it's something he should do is ridiculous when not one single person on here (Apart from the liars) would do that themselves. If you endorse Smith's financial stand I hope you also endorse Ashley's regime as well to look after every penny and every pound. There's no difference and if you're not a liar you'll admit it. Which part of Ashley's regime are you on about? If it's getting rid of the old, immobile players and bringing in young, fast, skillful players then I holeheartedly support what he's doing. I also believe that Newcastle United should be run at a profit, ridiculous though that may seem. It seems fashionable to lambast Ashley for "only" pumping in about £150m of his own money and then looking to get some of it back, which is frankly f***ing ridiculous. Of course I'd love it if we had an owner who splased billions on us but to suggest that our current owner has some kind of obligation to do that is f***ing bonkers. He's hardly bleeding the club dry, it's cost him a fortune to own it. His financial commitment cannot really be questioned.

    Alan Pardew

Have to wonder if Pardew is actually having any say on player departures/incoming etc. I'm not sure he does have much say.
  6. Yup, kinda resigned myself Jose leaving a while back. Depressing having 2 of our best players leave in 6 months or so. We'll never keep hold of good players or attract good players if this trend continues. Problem is I dunno what the club sensibly needs to do to prevent it happening.
  7. Hard to see how insomnia would fit Into our "team, and one unit" attitude etc. He is one stroppy git, but no doubt a top player when he is on it.

He's hardly winding them up like, he's attention seeking over the internet by constantly hasteling people with genuine talent (again, Owen excluded) Suppose. Think I'm maybe enjoying seeing Owen get it and has blinkered my perspective a bit!

His show is junk but his winding up of Owen, shrek and co is class. They can't take it.

    Shola Ameobi

He needs to be a bit part player for us next season. By bit part I mean the smallest bit you can find. But we all know he will somehow still be around and by sheer luck - his, unlucky for us we will need him and yet again he'll get a run in the prem league, a place where he should have left years ago. Takes a good pen mind.
  11. Yup, totally had enough = he will be here next season and be worse
  12. What a pathetic performance. What the fuck is pardew saying to them? That's the last few games we have looked not interested and sloppy as hell.
  13. We really need to move on and forget about this lad, his injury record is getting stupid now, would be a total waste of money.
  14. Expected this sort of performance, we just aren't up for it against the so called smaller clubs. In the end I'm happy with a point.
  15. This will be a tricky game, they are right up for it and games we think we should easily win always seem to turn out to be a horrible mess.
  16. Where have you seen he is out for the season?
  17. He is at it and so is the club. Any excuse.
