Bit of a slow work day so figured I would have a look at all the teams around us next 5 days, as well as there form: Newcastle (Form: LLDDW; 5 points) Everton (H) 08/02/22 Aston Villa (H) 13/02/22 West Ham (A) 19/02/22 Brentford (A) 26/02/22 Brighton (H) 05/03/22 Transfers In: Trippier, Wood, Guimarães, Targett, Burn Transfers Out: White, Woodman, Anderson, M Longstaff, Hendrik Burnley (Form LDLLD; 2 Points) Watford (H) 05/02/22 Man United (H) 05/02/22 Liverpool (H) 13/02/22 Brighton (A) 19/02/22 Crystal Palace (A) 26/02/22 Transfers In: Weghorst Transfers Out: Glennon, Wood, Vaughan Watford (Form LLLDL; 1 Point) Burnley (A) 05/02/22 West Ham (A) 08/02/22 Brighton (H) 12/02/22 Aston Villa (A) 19/02/22 Man United (A) 26/02/22 Transfers In: Okoye, Kamara, Samir, Kayembe, Kalu Transfers Out: Okoye, Dahlberg, Cassidy Norwich (Form LLLWW; 6 Points) Crystal Palace (H) 09/02/22 Man City (H) 12/02/22 Liverpool (A) 19/02/22 Southampton (A) 25/02/22 Brentford (H) 05/03/22 Transfers In: None Transfers Out: Dickson-Peters, Omotoye, Mumba, Bushiri, Ahadme, Hernandez, Martin, Soto, Cantwell, Hugill Everton (Form LDLLL; 1 Point) Newcastle (A) 08/02/22 Leeds (H) 12/02/22 Southampton (A) 19/02/22 Man City (H) 26/02/22 Tottenham (A) 07/03/22 Transfers In: Mykolenko, Patterson, El Ghazi, Van der Beek, Alli Transfers Out: Digne, Simms, Warrington Leeds (Form LLWWL; 6 Points) Aston Villa (A) 09/02/22 Everton (A) 12/02/22 Man United (H) 20/02/22 Tottenham (H) 26/02/22 Leicester (A) 05/03/22 Transfers In: Fernandez Transfers Out: Edmondson, Drameh, Galloway, Kamwa Brentford (Form WLLLL; 3 points) Man City (A) 09/02/22 Crystal Palace (H) 12/02/22 Arsenal (A) 19/02/22 Newcastle (H) 26/02/22 Norwich (A) 05/22/22 Transfers In: Lossl, Eriksen, Mpongo, Sotana Transfers Out: Brook, Adams, Gunnarsson, Valencia, Thompson, Bidstrup, Goode, Racic, Forss Looking at everything as a whole, these next five games are key for multiple teams, with all the teams in the mix playing some of there competitors, if we can get 7 points from out five games, I think we'll be in good stead, but with out additions there is no reason as to why we can't get more then that, in doing so we will also pull down both Brentford and Leeds. I would actually be slightly worried if I was Brentford, they have some key games coming up, if they don't get anything from them, given there form, they could be right in the mire. I also didn't realize Norwich hadn't strengthened at all this window, and even got weaker by letting Cantwell go, I know they're in good form, but thats not going to last, and having additional bodies in would have been beneficial for them given there starting team isn't blessed with Premier League quality. Same with Leeds, although I personally think Bielsa will see them clear. Everton have tricky fixtures too, if they lose to us, they could be in a fight they where not expecting, like us in 2009 if a whole team thinks they're too good to go down, and they don't have the grit required for the fight, then that in itself can get them looking into the precipice. Watford and Burnley, have some tough fixture, hopefully they draw at the weekend, and then both go on a losing run, although the Hodgson factor will be interesting, he knows what to do in this sort of situation, and while getting on a bit, he can set up a good counter attacking team, and will utilize both Sarr and Dennis well, I think they're the team we need to be wary off. Burnley need to get Weghorst firing instantly or they're the most certain to go down imo, even with there game in hands. Either way, I think we can be relatively confident in our chances, although its going to be a very close run thing. Going to be interesting.

@Yorkie Petition to change the the thread title to Dan Burn and Stuff...
-
Honestly can we hire their social media team
-
Fucking Brighton and there class manager and social media team...
-
I get there sentiment, but there is no guarantee he hits the ground running, also alot of Burnleys problems this season have been the way they attack, and not being able to create attack, so simply bringing a striker in won't suddenly resolve there issues, especially when you consider there defense has also been leaky.
-
Gone for a 4, think given how we've strengthened, and the fact we've looked better in our last 3 games getting 5 points puts us in good stead, and confidence will be high, so i'm more hopeful then not, but its so close down there I could see any number of 6 teams going down. Going to be a tight finish.

Yeap, its great to be honest, i'm glad they've targeted these sort of people, and not the Aubameyang's of this world that have all the talent but the heart of a pea, and are mercenaries.

Graham Potter commented, “We were not actively looking to sell Dan during this window, but the transfer represents a very good transfer for our club and the player. “Newcastle are Dan’s boyhood club, and this move allows him to potentially play out the rest of his career at his home club. “Ever since I have been at the club, Dan has been brilliant for me. He is a superb professional, adaptable and a great character on and off the pitch. “We will miss him here, but we understand his reasons for wanting to move and he goes with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.”

There is a bit of me that please we're done, means I can actually go to bed

Its not even worth arguing at this point honestly

He's played 2 games, how can he be disastrous?

Now that the Transfer Window is coming to a close, figured its be an idea to create a thread summarizing our business, and getting a consensus of how people rate it (use the poll above): Incomings: Player Club Value Contract Kieran Trippier Atletico Madrid £12M 2.5 Years Chris Wood Burnley £25M 2.5 Years Bruno Guimarães Lyon £33M 4.5 Years Matt Targett Aston Villa Loan 6 Months Dan Burn Brighton £13M TBC Outgoings: Player Club Value Contract Joe White Harelepool Loan 6 Months Freddie Woodman Bournemouth Loan 6 Months Matt Bondswell Shrewsbury Loan 6 Months Obviously there could still be some more transfers in the coming hours, but I think I can speak for more fans that even if you're not a fan of the players we've bought in, the owners have tried their hardest to get deals done, have actively tried to improve the team at every level, and while its not been smooth, and we may still have some weaknesses, its class having owners who actually care, and are trying to improve the squad and club at every level, and this window has been a far cry from anything we've had in a generation.

Again where is this notion that Lascelles isnt getting dropped coming from? Schar has literally played in all but one game under Howe. Villa were not fighting relegation last year, they finished very comfortably mid-table on 55 points, and he was there best player, that is something we really need right now. Manquillo has played a game and a half at left back for us, which he was admittedly decent, but you can't base that for the next 4 months, infact in the past whenever he has played there he has been shite. With Burn we're buying someone in really good form from a team doing well that experienced in the Premier League, and for a really good price, what more do you want? :
-
Just the fact that Gayle has been gash for years, and Wood can at the very least hold the ball up, Gayle can't even do that.
-
Targett was Villa's player of the season last year, and as Brummie has already said he's disappointed he's leaving, he's easily an improvement of Dummett, Ritchie and Lewis. Burn is easily better then Lascelles, and Fernandez is injured. He's also in shit hot form. He improves us considerably. Wood feels a whole we desperately needed filling, and is much more effective then Gayle, did we pay over the odds, absolutely, slightly uninspiring maybe, is he a bad signing, no.
